Every LBP game would be a million times better with Mario physics. How would it be worse?

For starters, Mario games don't really have much in the way of physics. Speed determines jump height and momentum and that's about it. There's nothing there to govern weight, impact, attach points, density and all the other fun things that make LBP what it is. Sure, LittleBigPlanet is a bit imprecise when you want to navigate fiddly little platforms (which I think is more a failing of the level design that the game itself) but a LittleBigPlanet without the ability to grab spongey pendulums and make-shift rockets, or freefall in zero-g, or spin around a centrifruge holding a string of fellow sackboys by the hand, is just not LittleBigPlanet.

So, to answer your question, that's how it would be worse.

I was just using physics as a (not very good) shorthand for how the running, jumping, inertia etc. feel. I'm sure everything else in the world could still run on the same physics engine, just with the Sackboy controls far tighter than they currently are. They don't need to be exactly like Mario, they just need to be better.

Anyway, people seem to like them as they are, so that's fine.

There's not going to be too much in the way of Vita game they can add that most of us won't already own, I'm hoping for loads of original PlayStation games and/or PSP games for free or much cheaper.

Mainly it'll be good for discounts, maybe free PSN games and cloud saving, which is going to be a much more important feature for a handheld than a console.

Did they really only announce one new game which is actually a port of a PSP game?

Other than PS+ for Vita, which is obviously welcome news,

They showed about 50 Monster Hunter clones during the pre-TGS conference, several of which were for PSP and Vita. Of those God Eater 2 looked the best to my untrained eyes, although Valhalla Knights 3 is supposed to be a new announcement as well.

Other than that there was Toukiden — a new IP from Omega Force which appeared to centre around a kunoichi — something called Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, which ostensibly revolved around perving on more female ninjas, and an updated port of Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Whilst not in the conference it seems Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is getting the port treatment, too, making it a fairly fruitful TGS so far if you're into ninjas.

So that rumoured NA date for Persona 4 Golden turned out to be true, with official confirmation coming out recently:

Atlus has announced that Persona 4: Golden will launch in North America on November 20th. Both the standard and Solid Gold Premium Edition will be available, offering 100+ hours of gameplay and new content for Persona 4.

Two more months! :omg: I was thinking of holding out for the Euro release so that I can use the online stuff with my account, but depending on the wait I might just grab it early. And the NA release is on the same week as my birthday

I think I'll wait until the inevitable sale, too many games to play already (yes, on the vita)

I know, I'm in the same boat, I have MGS2 to finish, not started 3! I'm currently playing Wipeout HD pack in 2048 it's everything wipeout should be and one of the best vita freebies I've had. There are so many must haves coming as well it will be wise to pace ourselves for the new year lull.

I'd hold off buying LBP for now gents. Tried to install and failed with a C2-12383-7 error. Sounds like others who downloaded it have found the same:

Balls sorry about that I appear to have sent you up a wrongun... It will fix itself if you re download it on Friday.

Anyone know a good importer apart from yesasia, and are vita games region free?

I haven't imported any Vita stuff so I can't comment on the first bit, but Vita games are region-free... however, I believe that online passes and DLC are region-locked. This isn't a problem if you're not planning to do online stuff, but that online pass in the case of an import game cannot be redeemed with your non-import Vita, and any extras you want to download for the game will have to be downloaded with a different PSN account that matches the game's region. Apparently.

My 32GB memory card came in today, so now I'm putting the PS3 backup I made of my 16GB - which took forever - on the new card - which is also taking forever. If this PS3 is so full of military grade processing power that could nuke the world, why is it taking FUCKING FOREVER to back up a device and to restore it?

The good news is that once it's done, I can put some PS1 games from my collection on it and download LBP tomorrow :)
