Playstation Vita

It's alright. It's your usual Dynasty Warriors- looks quite nice and slick. Got some shitty touch-screen mini games in it, but not that often. It's basically... more of the same Dynasty Warriors stuff. There's demo of it, which is probably the best way to judge it.

Any there any good decent bundle deals on Vitas at the moment? Shopto seem to have the cheapest base unit price at £178.85, but I was wondering if anything better could be had. I should have probably just bought one from Amazon when they first came out. When I was going to buy one earlier in the thread I ended up getting an iPad instead, but after turning my PS3 back on recently I bought a few PSP games in the sale and thought I should get something to play them on. (I have a PSP somewhere, but I'm so irresponsible with my gadgets I'm not sure where I've put it.)

I went with Shopto, the Vita + Gravity Rush bundle for just under £200, and then put the £10 worth of points they gave me towards a second game. I'm not sure it was the best available but i've always liked Shopto's service.

Aren't we getting pretty close to levels of sales that'll result in an emergency price cut? Now seems like an odd time to take the plunge.

I have been waiting. :P I did expect there to be better deals around for that reason, but I'm pretty sure Amazon had better deals when it first launched. Maybe I'll hold out for a few weeks, but by that time I'll have probably gone off the idea and thinking about getting something else. ;)

and Monster Hunter FU

I gave up on it on the psp due to frustration with dpad claw camera controls. Currently on 280hrs of playtime on the Vita in the last 4 months. The second stick and improved graphics make it heavenly. It doesn't help me beat G Rank Rajang though, the hateful ****.

Sound Shapes review:

http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/8/7/3224541/sound-shapes-review-pet-sounds

Even without the content creation mode, Sound Shapes would be something unlike anything else on the Vita, or even on consoles. While some might complain about Sound Shapes' willingness to be finished and enjoyed, I dare anyone to go through it remaining non-transfixed by exactly what Queasy and their musical and artistic partners have assembled. Sound Shapes is video game pop music, and those don't need to be dirty words.

9/10

We seem to be flogging a lot of them at work at the moment. We have a bundle that gives a buyer a Wifi Vita, 8gb Memory Card, Pre-Order Pack, Hotshots Golf, Uncharted & Modnation for £239. I'm looking forward some more games coming out for it though.

Is the ZoE HD collection coming out for it?

Yes it is and I'm really looking forward to it ... Chalk another one on the list of must haves, oh and Jet Set Radio HD.

So how likely is it that Sony will announce a price cut at Gamescom next week?

Bundles yes, price cut no. Would be my bet, I also expect they will give the vita a lot of focus at Gamescon to make up for E3. Most importantly we will see what's comming out before Xmas (and maybe beyond). There will be CoD, FIFA, Assasins Creed and hopefully NFS, oh Street fighter vs Tekken as well. So quite a lot of the core audience will be catered for. If they support that with some decent new game announcements it may put the vita back on track for Xmas.
