Games that demand a remake

Shouldn't that request be directed towards the original Japanese Arcade dev team of OutRun 2? though I dunno how you'd update Hang-On (loved the MD version, even if it barely resembled the original), they added the glorious power-sliding mechanic and some funky skill score attack stuff to that sequel, bikes don't really work with that mechanic though, the original was rather like the original OutRun with the main aim not being to skid off the track while going around corners, a bit too simplistic for a modern game.

Oh well I did mean more along the lines of Super Hang-On, sure. ( I just assume the next game would be hyper hang on or something, it's the hang on franchise, not super) Though the original is not actually that bad (I wouldn't say it was that simplistic to drive at least) despite exploding on contact of other bikers making me laugh. Just a lack of soundtrack really let's it down.

But yeah there's something appealing about being able to skid about + the sega arcade style that would great to see back again. Getting to the end of a course tis as satisfying as any other. Maybe add in the campaign MD had with the shop.

I wrote a pitch for it, couldn't get any traction. In a nutshell, point to point racer with two way traffic and all the things that make being a biker great fun.

Bah.

Edit: thank you for trying

It wasn't the best of RPGs, and I haven't played it in years so it could be rose tinted specs, but Evolution on the Dreamcast, as far as infinite floor dungeons go, I still have fond memories of compared to most other JRPGs I've tried.

Update that.

The posters of 2003 clearly had very good taste because my first choices, Goldeneye, Secret of Mana and Legend of the Mystical Ninja, have already been said. I'd add:

Castlevania IV, although they'd better not touch the music or else.

Okami because it would look gorgeous.

Super Monkey Ball all HD'd and lovely. Just the original though. None of the increasingly dire sequels.

Snake, Rattle 'n' Roll. Maybe I'm being swayed by the fact that I spent much of yesterday evening grabbing chiptunes for the NoiseES app, but this was a great co-op collect 'em up and would be good fun to play with friends over Xbox Live or PSN. You'd have the whole screen to yourself (although this may have already been a thing on the Gameboy's Sneaky Snakes - I think that had a link up mode?) and could spread out and gobble all of the nibbles or whatever they are. Pushing the multiplayer further, maybe you could have competitive modes where players, or teams of players, race to be the first to make the bell ring. And of course you could make the levels much bigger with more cunningly designed isometric madness (although you'd probably need a mini-map to find the bell :P )

Also, we've already got Wipeout HD, but where's our Rollcage HD? :P The flipping cars may have made things a bit frustrating at times when you landed the wrong way or whatever, but the first game was balanced so that it wasn't too chaotic (I seem to remember Rollcage: Stage II being completely over-the-top and very tricky to play) and the invertible cars ensured that you were always maintaining high speeds regardless of how you approach ramps (well, most of the time.) With the technology on offer today you could probably make some really elaborate gravity-defying tracks, as well as throwing in a decent online mode and making it look eye-wateringly pretty.

Crimson Skies. A HD update, followed by a remake with massive new levels to explore. Would pay one nut to play.

Damn good call, this.

You could feel the strokes of Skies in Snoopy Flying Ace, which was a bit good. Near identical mechanics just dressed up in Peanuts.

Quazatron! I was playing paradroid at the weekend, to test the GC-WiiU adapter and that game is still pure class but yes, what you lost in frame rate and shininess on its speccy cousin you definitely gained with the partial robot component takeovers.

Someone should so do that.

I'd never even heard of that, but loved Paradroid as a kid. By the time it came out I think my Speccy owning friend had moved away so I never kept up with what was out for them.

Playing some old Gamecube games with my buddies at the weekend instantly made me want a remake of:

_-Beach-Spikers-Virtua-Beach-Volleyball-

4 player is just the best. Sega have released shitloads of Virtua Tennis games and they've been crap since 3, why not a pretty HD update of Beach Spikers?

Overlooked as hell Beach Spikers, I'd still say it is the best Volleyball game ever made and a hell of a lot more dignified than the other volleyball games that have come out.
