Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

On my travels I came across a lone shack, and I thought I'd nip in for a random visit. What I found was a poor bloke who had died from Rock Joint but had left his dog to fend for himself. Luckily enough, it seemed to be a nice mutt and when I told him to follow me, he barked happily.

He's not a bad fighter either, and does not seem to mind attacking my enemies. Even though he is not very carefull at times and I've had to re-load a few times, because I just can't stand the thought of being the cause of this dog's death.

Anyway, on our way to my house in Whiterun, we came across Vigilants of Stendar. Who proceeded to attack my poor dog without any reason? Well, I didn't walk all this way just to have him put down lika a dog, so I had to kill them.

Is there something I don't know? This dog might be a Deirdric Prince in disguise or something? I sure hope not, since I told him to stay in my bedroom to keep Lydia company. I have visions of coming home to my bedroom where Lydia's been ripped to pieces all over the place and the dog happily greeting me...

And earlier today I've killed a dragon, but it's soul did not release as usual. Neither did the word on the wall he was guarding trigger any event for me, whic seemed a bit odd to me. Reloaded to do the dragon fight again but still no luck.

Hope this is not a recurring glitch.

Well this is stupid. I've just started the Break of Dawn quest in which you have to find the Beacon for Meridia. The beacon can spawn anywhere apparently. I had to look it up because they've put in in Rebels Cairn which you can only get access too by doing Red Eagles Fury quest. So I have to do a completely unrelated queste to get access to a cave for another quest.

That's not stupid, that's ace!

If you want Dawnbreaker you have to earn it.

Dawnbreaker is indeed a great weapon. I switch between that and my Epic Nightingale blade dependant on situation (Dawnbreaker for undead for obvious reasons)

It is really fiddly. I gave up in frustration. Instead of having trolls skulls stacked neatly on my table they are all over the fucking floor. :)

I knocked over some cutlery in my house at whiterun & I could not get them back onto the table to sit nicely.

In the end I said F**K it took the lot & sold them.

I spent many hours on Fallout 3 getting all my toy cars to sit nicely on a book shelf but now I can't be bothered to waste the time on skyrim.

And I did earn it, only for a glitch to take it away from me :(

God I hope that patch sorts this out, I really want that weapon I'm too affraid to stick the Mehrunes Razor in a glass case just incase something happens to that too.

I've not come across Dawnbreaker yet. I'm currently using Mehrune's Dagger and Valdr's Lucky Dagger. It's a pretty brutal combo!

Glitch took away that from me too.

Still fucking shit up with my Warhammer. A new hobby, listening to the randomly generated bits of chatter from foes as I deliver the death blow. Best one so far came last night, as I raise the hammer over my head to pulverise a goon, he nonchalantly announces "Not Impressed!" just before I cave his head in. As fearless in death as he was in life.

You're really not having the best of luck are you? >.<

Nope. But that's probably the worst one I've had. The other was just repeating a quest. II should probably stop moaning I about it like a broken record and just go find some dragons to quench my blood lust.

Has anyone had that glitch where human enemies will say their usual farewell upon their death?

I had bandits saying an enthusiastic "See ya!" as they fell lifeless to the ground. I haven't laughed that hard in ages.

My favourite is the line "is that the best you've got ?" just as I stick greatsword through them and lift them off the ground.

"why yes, it is" i always answer. :)

In ref to this, I am positive objects that come with the house reset themselves after a certain amount of away from the property. On several occasions I've accidently knocked stuff over, and if I haven't been back to the house in a while they appear back where they were originally. Another thing that makes me think this, is that I moved some stuff to put my own items there, then spend quite a lot of time away from my home. When I got back my items had been flung across the room, and the original objecst were back.

I'll presume taking things is permanent?!?!

Very shit

I've got my armoury in Windhelm kitted out with so much good stuff, my mannequins look awesome. Must be about 40,000 worth of gear on them, on the walls and in the cases. My ocd side has even made me upgrade the armour, even though ill never use it. Problem is, I think I'm gonna have to get a new house to kit out with my Dragon Bones and Ebony Armor.

Undertook my first couple of Dark Brotherhood hits today. It got my blood lust up which proved unfortunate for some passing Thalmor Justicars. Well we do have some what of a checkered past ever since they sent a hit squad after me. I may have helped the Imperials win the war and they my have some peace treaty with the them. However, the Thalmor and this Dragonborn are very much at war. So I despatched with them using my two Daedric swords.

I was just about to head off when I noticed I was close by to a fast moving river. Looking ahead there appeared to be a waterfall, so I did what any decent vengeful murderer would do. Stripped them bare, carried them into the river and let their naked corpses sail off over the edge.

I don't think I quite fit the bill the legends tell of the righteous Dragonborn who comes to save Skyrim but in my defence, they started it.

I'm so fucking hard I'mgoing to dongrade my enchanted dragonplate to enchanted dragonscale*.

What are Trollskulls for ?

They're for nothing at all.

One question I have, if you have an enchanted weapon, can you recharge it or do you have to just ditch it and make another one?

I'm on 18 shouts learnt now and I want to get that 20. I am going to get to 1000g on this, something I've never done and given how massive the game is, that's a testament to how fantastic it is. Level 45 and pretty good at one-handed, a master at lockpicking and an utter c*nt to any mudcrab that even dares to try and pinch my toes.

You recharge it on the inventory screen, at the bottom it tells you what button to press (RB on 360 I think?) You will need a filled soul gem to do so though.

Soul gems charge them. Press T on PC, I think. RB on XBOX while on the item in the inventory.

Cheers. I never noticed that. I don't have to ditch my mace of fiery death :)

Anyway, 85 hours in and I am still discovering locations :omg:

Someone has mentioned this before and I think the dev's should have allowed for using different clothes as disguises.

I got into a light skirmish in Markarth earlier when someone's coin purse accidently found it's way into my pocket. Things escalated quite quickly to the point were everyone in the inn and about 10 guards were butchered no longer with us. Trying to rectify the situation I donned the full Markarth guard's uniform right down the stupid mace they wield. I legged it from the scene of the massacre and went and stood outside some door way. I tried to fool people by saying stuff like, "The Gods gave you two hands, and you use them both for your weapon... I can respect that" but to no avail. I can only surmise that the guard identified me by the fact that both my knees were in full working order and thus I obviously could not have passed the medical to join Skyrim's Guard Corps.

Right I'm definitely going to start Skyrim this weekend. For whatever reason I just haven't dived into it yet, I think I know it's such a big game I was putting it off in a way. Do you think it would be best to use the beta PC patch or just avoid and wait until it's properly out ? Anyone been using the patch much this week with no problems ?

I've been using the beta patch and it's been great for me as I was having a lot of CTDs while wandering around the main world map and trying to enter certain places like the dark brotherhood sanctuary. This made the game unplayable for me as it just kept crashing the beta patch fixed all these issuses for me and has giving a pretty good performance boost as well it appears they optimised the game so it runs better so I would recommend the beta patch.
