Now that I'm on a break, I find myself thinking about Skyrim more

But now, I'm thinking about how i could fix the game if I had the time to bother getting into modding. I'm actually.loathe to go back now I've made the game too easy. :(

Does anyone know if mod requests on the tesnexus forums ever get picked up (if they're not about tits)?

I take it you're talking about the entrance to Brinewater Cave that's mentioned on the wiki?

Are you talking about inside the warehouse? I had a good look around in there but couldn't find any cave entrances.

throw up a candle or hold a torch and go to the left of the steps on the right of the jetty and on the left i think you slide behind the barrels and the entrance to the grotto is back there. It took me ages to find. I tore the house above the jetty apart looking of the hidden entrace that wasn't in there.

Quick question. I've started both the Thief Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests but I've reached a point in the Dark Brotherhood quests where

The plan is to kill the Emperor.

I'm at this point in the main quest

I've completed the part where you sit down with the Greybeards, The Empire and The Stormcloaks to agree to catch a dragon

If I continue on the Dark Brotherhood quest-line, is it going to mess up the main quest as the character I will be killing at the end of it seems integral to the main story (hope that's not a spoiler).

Right, I've done the Thieves Guild quest, so thanks to everyone for their help on that. The next part was pretty with the poison arrow was pretty interesting too and I can't wait to see where it goes. I'd have been gutted to miss out on it.

While we're on the subject has anyone come across the Whispering Door bug, where there are no dialogue options when you try and get the key? That's another that's broken for me which isn't on the patch list.

Farkas is such a tool. He's basically a fighting pack animal... He carries all my shite. Ive put a helmet on him so I don't need to look at his eyes... But basically, I don't give a flying fuck whether or not he dies... So far, even against giants and dragons he tends just to sit down for a bit (probably sings about gold) when the going gets a bit tough.

I like the companion thing... Having someone along to help out and twat some basts... But please... Bethesda Gods... Hear my prayer. Make them fucking interesting next time eh? Farkas just have a history, he must've twatted some cunts in the past... C'mon!!!

As soon as I get to sacrifice on of them, he's getting it... fuck him.

Cicero is the best. Just a shame that you have to

join the Dark Brotherhood

and complete all their hateful missions in order to use him.

i really liked The Dark Brotherhood quest - one of the most interesting and entertaining parts of the game, far more than the main story. plus it means that whenever i need some quick cash i can pop back to the keep and pick up a juicy new assassination contract, which is always a good way of trying out new ways of killing people. one job was to kill some warrior guy, he was outside his house looking at his plants - i creep up, ready to knife him when he turns around, looks at me, and tells me to leave him alone. there i was, dagger in hand cowering in his cabbages... so i retreat a bit and put an arrow in his bonce.

I'll concede that it has many memorable moments:

The way it begins

That first time in the coffin with The Night Mother

Everything involving Cicero

ASSASSINATING THE FUCKING EMPEROR

But I just didn't like the context of it. None of the members were interesting or likable (apart from Cicero obvs), and the business of assassinating was lacking in any kind of honour. It wasn't as disagreeable as the Thieves Guild, because at least you get the option of dismantling the Dark Brotherhood, but I could never get into assassinating targets when those that performed the Black Sacrament were far more deserving of painful death. What kind of bastard puts a hit out on Narfi? And there was that bitch in Markarth who so casually mentioned that there'd be a bonus if I also murdered someone's daughter as an act of petty revenge. Not on.

some of their random banter is pretty good though, with them all chuckling away listening to the vampire kid recall a brutal murder or two.

nah it is fine

Yeah. In Oblivion I don't think you ever knew the Why behind the contracts, so assumed they were legitimate and deserving targets, but when you do find it out in Skyrim it usually seems to be hateful c*nts exacting disproportionate (and often misplaced) revenge on people who haven't really done anything wrong.

Despite trying my hardest to get my to do list down all I seem to do is fricking expanding it. I've been playing over 100 hours now and I totted up my open 'proper' quests last night to something like 25 (of which 3 are linked to the main story line on which I'm stalled until the 1.4 patch) with a further 33 miscellaneos quests.

A good example was me actually finishing a quest and getting the amulet of mara from whojamaflip in Riften but then making the mistake of asking her if she wanted me to do anything else. Before I knew it I was delevering leaflets to 20 residents of Riften and, before I knew what I was doing next, I'd picked up half a dozen quests from those guys, used up all my gold getting skill training from a couple of them, realised that my smithing skill was then 59 and with a tad more gold I could easily train it to 60 (which would give me the perk allowaing me to improve magical stuff), whizzed over to Whiterun, grabbed some stuff to sell, slept till shop opening time, sold my stuff, whizzed back to the blacksmith in Riften, trained smithing up to 60, realised I was a smidgeon from level 37, whizzed to the imperial camp south of Riften and wandered off into the bush in search of some levelling up action, got attacked by an elder dragon which I polished off with my bow and dragonrend combo's (but unfortunately used up a load of health potions) and then stacked out my inventory with bones and scales, so it was then back to Whiterun, where I decided to move around some stuff stored in the companions lodge, where Aela happened to convince me to waltz off on another quest........... (at which point I went to bed)

What a brilliant game

I just got to an annoying part of the main quest where you have to get blood from various creature types.

It's not obvious to me where or how I am supposed to do this? Is it just a case of roaming and finding them or is there some obvious way I am missing? I realise it's lazy but this is the sort pc point I get fed up with randomly searching around.

Its really easy; whenevr you kill one of these and search the body, you will be given the option to take blood. If its the same quest I did for matey in the ice cave, I just let in run in the background. Hey presto two or three bandit camps later and it was job done

Found some strange NPCs last night. Usually they're wild savages who attack on sight, or they count as "real people" and you'll earn yourself a bounty for crimes against them. But these guys, all simply called "Guard" (although they didn't seem to be guarding anything of note) occupied a strange middle ground where they didn't give a shit that I was there, but when they caught me stealIng no bounty was earned (so I took full advantage and killed them all :) ).

Does Skyrim's music behave dynamically? After I killed a character in cold blood for the first time in the game (it was the guy in Dawnstar running the Mythic Dawn museum. I just saw red when he started asking if I fancied 'helping' him. He might have needed help with the drains I suppose) the music as I left the house was noticably darker and less heroic/pretty than it had been before.

Probably a coincidence, but it wasn't a piece of music I'd heard before and I'd be interested in whether anyone else had noticed music apparently matching player actions...

Last night I was wandering around a mountain top after just completing the above quest, and heard the ominous roar of a dragon - quick weapon check and I'm ready to take it on. Except he's not alone - two dragons are circling above me like a pair of vultures, taking it in turns to dive bomb me and hit me with alternate fire and ice......this was going to be hard work.

Those poor cunts didn't stand a chance and I walked away one step closer to dragon armour - the pair of them were dead in a matter of minutes. I love my epic dawnbreaker.

those guys are buggy. They are pretending to be good guys until their mate (who you find lying at the side of the road) leads you into their ambush, at which time they change to being bandits. But if you don't speak to the guy (or he doesn't even spawn) they stay stuck pre-ambush mode.

It seemed my adventuring in Skyrim was interfered with by the Daedric prince of glitching today. The first was an encounter with a dragon. The noble but ultimately doomed beast had little health left and was swooping down to land when I struck him with an arrow which took the last of his health. The dragon continued to flap his wings and remained in mid air. I tried hitting it with every shout possible and every destruction spell but to avail and I can only assume he continues to hover there immortalised forever. If nothing else it might become an attraction for tourists to get cooled down during the long and hot Skyrim summers.

More annoying is that I did a couple of quests to find words of power and when I got to the end with the wall of words, the music/chnating was sounding but the words did not light up and I couldn't absorb them. I tried reloads but nothing worked. Hopefully something in the new patch might fix them.

I had some horrendous frame rate issues today for about ten minutes until they simply stopped. In addition, my idea that dragons respawn was confirmed. Bonestrewn Crest is the location, I've now done that exact same dragon four times now

I'm following the Dark Brotherhood Quest and I've just had to

kill Cicero. I must admit, he was quite an annoying character and I wanted to steal his clothes... they're worth a lot of cash.

I've got to Level 45 now and I've enjoyed every single second of it and there's still a load of quests on my menu screen. I have put in 70 hours and I suspect I'll be putting in at least another 50 hours. I've not enjoyed a game as much since Red Dead Redemption. If they're releasing DLC on this, I hope they give you a dragon you can fly from place to place so you look like this:

This make me sad that a glitch lost me my Dawnbreaker

Wow, the 1.4 BETA patch makes a massive difference. Sorry to bore you lot with stats/spec gumpf, but I urge those on PC to try it.

I've got a Core2Duo, so despite having a decent GPU I've always struggled to run the game without massive dips in framerate or stuttering in certain areas - Whiterun being particularly bad.

Anyway, here are the FRAPS stats (min / max / average) over a 30 second period walking down from the top of Whiterun around by the tree.

Pre-patch: 9 / 34 / 21

Pre-patch with Skyboost: 13 / 36 / 25

1.4 Beta: 25 / 63 / 45

It's like a different game. Well pleased.

That is a massive difference. Looking forward to that one hitting. And with the player creation tools, it's just going to keep on giving!
