What am I supposed to do with Iron Dagger then? Sell them? I know this might sound a bit mental, but who do you sell shit to? The only people I've found who want to buy stuff are very specific and don't want weapons.

Armorers/blacksmiths. For instance, the bloke in the Warmaiden's shop on the right as soon as you enter Whiterun. In fact, that's probably the best place to make the daggers, as you can buy the materials there and sell them the daggers back. If the guy in the shop runs out of money, the woman working the forge outside has her own seperate fund.

If you actually want to make a profit and level up your enchanting, then enchant all those daggers using petty soul gems before selling them. Check all your available enchants to see which one increases the value the most.

I've had 3 followers so far and they've all died in the dungeons I've been in. My dragon shouts never seem to do all that much. Maybe knock them down for a couple of seconds, but without causing any damage. A lot of the time they don't seem to work either. Is there a time limit between uses or something? It doesn't show you very well on the HUD if there is.

Shout cooldown is indicated by the compass at the top of the screen glowing and slowly cooling from the middle outwards. Takes about 20 seconds I think, less if you've recently visited a Shrine of Talos, like the one by the big tree in Whiterun.

Haha Jon. Not finding any shops in Whiterun takes some doing. The odds and sods shops are best in that they buy a much wider range of stuff, but they do run out of cash real quick. From the gate in whiterun, Blacksmiths first building on the right then, at the market square straight ahead, odds and sods guy first on the right, potions and ingredients lady second on the right.

Enchant them to give you sick enchants like +38% damage to single handed weapons.

Or just flog them :P

Edit: Sorry, I read jewels/diamonds as actual jewelry. Yeah, like Broker says. Craft them in to a necklace, ring or circlet at the forge and then enchant them or just straight up sell them. Not sure if there's many quests which require gems for hand-ins.

No problems.

It's also worth mentioning; no matter what you craft as a blacksmith, you will always gain the same amount of skill per item. So crafting 1 bit of Ebony Armour is the same as crafting 1 Hide Bracer.

The Right Eye of the Falmer can be sold too yeah. The left eye is considered a quest item (which I'm sure you're aware of).

I use the right eye as an ornament in my home :P

Seriously? So if I want to increase my smithing I'm better off making four iron daggers than one iron greatsword, or whatever? I'd just figured the higher-value stuff would level me up quicker.

I've already got an ornament in my house in Whiterun, and her name is Lydia.

She literally does nothing all day apart from sit next to my bed.

It's really starting to freak me out now - So much so I daren't sleep there.

My wife doesn't seem to mind though. I'm starting to think she might be having a lesbian affair with her.

The filthy whore.

If you have the sanguine rose you should be able to tackle any problem dungeon. If you know a hard guy is ahead blast the saguine rose, summon an atronach and with a follower you can't lose.

If you only have a few dragon shouts then an idea might be to try and hunt down a few dragon shrines. Everywhere I go I always use shout to mess stuff up. This has resulted in me getting courier letters from 'a friend' who are glad to see the dragonborn back which gives me quests to find the words of power.

If you want a good follower recruit Mjoll the Lioness in Riften.

She can't be killed so she could help you for a while while you level up and then you could cut her loose afterwards

Yeah, seriously. I got to 100 Smithing from buying Leather and Leather Straps and just making Hide Bracers (1 leather and 2 straps per item).

Yep, think most of us have done this. It does feel a bit cheap and dirty, but when you want a quick way to jump a few character levels to grab some perks and make some saucy daedric armour it's the way to go.

I'm debating whether to go up the light armour or heavy armour tree in the smithing skill.

As a sneak thief, light armour is the obvious choice.

However, the best weapons I'd be able to create/improve would be glass, as opposed to daedric on the heavy armour side. Also, with stuff like the Steed stone, wearing heavy armour would make no difference in my ability to sneak everywhere.

I started as sneaky mage and pumped bows and fire up to the 70s. But now past level 40 I seem to be turning into a sword monster, so going to start pimping my heavy armour skill and see how that works out. What a monumental game

Seriously, this is a massive gaming achievement we are all enjoying. Totally game of forever for me - and I never really got on with Oblivion.

I haven't done much in the way of Enchanting / Smithing but I'll give that a go!

Cheers guys :)

Also, I've somehow ended up with the right eye of a Falmer statue in my possesion.

I can just flog that, right?

Sell it to Delvin at the thieves guild and you'll get more for it than a regular merchant will give you.

I've not really been following any cobventions really. Most of the time I'm a sneaky archer but I guess I clank about a bit in my heavy armour. I do dig out my glass mace and shield from time to time or use the odd bit of magic to suit the occasion and I definitely use my shouts a lot more than I used to. But I reckon pretty much anything could be made to work.

You can only sell the left eye. You have no option to sell the right eye or do anything other than flog it to a normal vendor, which is why I use is as a decoration. Not worth the cash considering how easy it is to come by.

I haven't put any perks into smithing at all, but can still improve all my equipment massively (ie top level). You can probably make it even better with the perks, but my smithing clothes/jewelry sets and potions (from enchanting and alchemy) do me just fine.

I mean I'm still able to one shot giants with my ebony bow (can almost one shot mammoths too!)

Yeah, I've done it. I always forget to use the rose thing I got though!

Jesus Christ. The mongiest dragonborn of all time.

You can get a perk in speechcraft that allows you to sell any item to any person, I would recommend it.

Follower killing: turn your difficulty down or kit them out with better stuff.

Dragon shouts :( jfc their cooldowns are listed on their info box.

What do you do with iron daggers? FFS, take them to a lake and dump them in a lake if you want, the point in making them is to level your smithing. Otherwise, take them up to the Whiterun palace and use the enchanting table to put whatever enchantments you know on that will sell for the most. PROTIP: Banish Daedra and Paralyse are worth a lot.

The more stuff you do, the better you'll get at it, so the more deer you kill, the more bears you slash to death etc, the better a swordsman you'll be. If you spend your time waddling through dungeons hiding in the corners while your mate takes a beating, well. there isn't really a stat for that so you won't get any better.

Don't worry that the dragon priest was hard, they are meant to be! I had to run away from my first one after he pwned me hard with mad lightning shit. I came back really hard and crushed him in one hit probably. Maybe you can get a potion of shock resist or magic resist or resist whatever Vokul does. Maybe you could take a potion that increases your attack damage? Perhaps have a few health potions? I mean, there's so many ways to approach things. I run up twat them sometimes and other times I'll stay skulking in the corner and launch a supercharged arrow of paralysis at them. With any luck they'll keel over frozen for a few seconds while you notch up another arrow or charge in and bash their undead skulls in.

I've lost my wife. I left a cave and she was there as it was auto-loading and then I couldn't find her :(

Done loads and loads and loads and loads today and yesterday. I'm almost up to 100 in one-handed, finished the Companions storyline, did a lot for Winterholm and chaired a meeting with the Greybeards. I've not touched the Thief Guild other than getting the order to go and get my outfit, so that's next on my radar. This is possibly the first game I'll ever 1000g on the 360 and given just how vast it is, that's £22 well spent.

I'm getting to a point now though where dragons aren't much of a challenge at all. The last time I really struggled with combat and almost died in the last fifteen hours was when I was attacked by four snow bears simultaneously. Another thing I've noticed is that dragons respawn at some parts on the map - but you don't absorb their souls once defeated. One in particular, I've defeated four times.

That's quite stupid, as IIRC in the plotline they clearly say that you as the dragonborn are the only one who can truly defeat a dragon because it can't be resurrected once you've absorbed their soul.

Haha, in my defence I'd not done any smithing or enchanting though and it's not very intuitive if you don't know what you're supposed to do, is it? I'd been focussing on twatting things instead, which has been great fun.

I think I'd just got myself caught up in a few quests beyond my level at an early stage. One of the pitfalls of letting you do pretty much whatever you want.

Now I'm using the rose staff and I've finally got a decent sidekick my levels have gone up a bit and the boss fights are getting easier.

I was just amazed when I saw the damage capable from some of the weapons earlier in the thread and wanted in on the action. I'm guessing you used a guide at some point to get you on your way though, as I don't know how you'd figure that shit out otherwise.

Because I've played World of Warcraft and I like playing meta games with game mechanics. I have had loads of fun enchanting stuff so I can make better potions so I can enchant better and then making enchanted stuff to make even better potions etc. it's not for everyone but I had a lot of fun pottering about in Whiterun with armfuls of daggers and buying up all the soul gems possible.

It's sort of shit you can level smithing by making loads of shit items but that's how it is. You'll level alchemy quicker by making potions that are worth more, so it pays to get your enchanting up too and make a suit of super alchemists gear. They all sort of tie in together.
