Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I'm not a fan of companions when playing stealthy dudes in Bethesda games. Only Boone. He is the ultimate dude.

I had Aela with me for a while, once I married her it seemed fitting to go around on my adventures with my Nord face painted beauty with her bow and light armour. Unfortunately, she kept aggroing loads of enemies and soon she would kneel in submission and I'd have a load of pricks after me. I sent her home. Now I can one shot pretty much anything anyway, but should anything start looking for me I can stay hidden.

She's way more useful in the kitchen at home anyway, homecooked meals. Well I did have them until recently as she refuses to cook now, it is probably a bug or our marriage is already falling apart.

>Playing Skyrim

>Get to first village in game

>It gets dark

>Decide to test out magic spells (fire, lightning etc)

>Use fire on a chicken in the village to practice

>Suddenly every villager within a kilometre radius instantly turns around, focusing on me with their terrifying, dead eyes, and run to the nearest weapons rack to arm themselves, then proceed to try to mercilessly kill me, no questions asked

>Defend myself, as any logical man would do when the crazy locals of a backwater village decide to murder him because he burned one of their chickens

>Suddenly I have a bounty on my head from a place I have never heard of before, for killing a chicken

>Skyrim

To be fair, Res Evil 4 had that and you didn't even need to kill the chicken first. And that's one of the best games of all time.

Also try going onto someones farm in some random part of the country and killing a chicken, you'll get fucking shot mate.

what about Jenasa (think that is how it is spelt) the dark elf merc for hire in Whiterun?

She is a sneaky assassin type and I bring her along and she seems to be good for a thief character companion.

She also is super cool and says things like " I am the shadow at your back" or "I thought about being a bandit but decided I like a full belly and a warm bed" (or something like that)

Married her too  , just hope she doesnt murder me in my sleep! :o

A lot suddenly happened in my session this evening as I'd almost completed four quests and did them all. I'm currently

sneaking about at an Elf party up in the mountains in my swanky outfit.

I met a talking dog quite near to the beginning of my first playthrough who sounded like Wallace Shawn.

I went through two dungeons with him and finally retrieved an axe and, at a shrine of his former master, the shrine told me to kill the dog and I keep the axe because the dog was essentially quite annoying. I couldn't do it. Barbaros and I had gone through hell including fighting two unpleasant ice trolls. I didn't do it but got nothing out of it... miserable mutt... I even got infected by a vampire for him - this concerns me as I wanted to be a werewolf and become a companion but they don't tend to get on with vampires :(

I'm away for Xmas so I'll leave Skyrim for a week or so. Level 15, hard as nails, seven dragons down with a very shiny helmet. I have been banned from taking my 360 with me :(

In case you didn't know, her default armour is actually Heavy. I realise the sideboob doesn't give that impression but it's Ancient Nord Armour, which could well be hampering her stealthiness.

Nosing around the Skyrim Nexus modding forums, I picked up the vibe that there's quite the modding scene for Skyrim in China. I was looking for cool armour mods, but all I found was stuff like this...

(For all I know, though, the first one is a 'shop)

So I lolled a little, then carried on looking for cool armour mods....

If anyone's interested in having a nose, and can read "Simplified Han" Chinese, or can get by with Google translations, the forum's here:

http://bbs.3dmgame.com/forum-685-1.html (You need to register to view most of the images, or to download. Not that I've found anything to download yet. Some of the stuff there is on Skyrim Nexus already, but not all of it will be.

I've not finished having a gander yet, but there's some cool stuff like Assassins Creed armour, here, too:

http://modgames.net/load/246-1-13 (Again, some but not all can also be found at the Nexus)

What? You mean the Elven Armour I crafted up for her isn't what she would prefer?

I guess I will have to pick up all the pieces for some Ancient Nord stuff and improve it up then. She did look a lot better in it than the Elven stuff...

Sadly I knew, and such knowledge made replace such lovely sideboobage and short skirt for boring ass elven armour. Seems silly she wears heavy as according to the wiki her skill set is for light armour/one handed weapons/archery etc. Also you can't replace her default shitty hunting bow (though you can drop a glass/daedric arrow in her inventory and she will continue to use that).

Thanks for this.

Although it seems the SKSE kills the FPS on my PC (and Skyrim takes AGES to load). Any ideas why?

I get 27 FPS average in a FRAPS benchmark over a 30 second period in Whiterun... but 10 FPS average after loading with the SKSE. With the Acceleration layer in the SKSE folder I get 17 FPS average; so in that sense it's working better than without it - but there's something about the SKSE itself that's causing an issue somewhere.

EDIT:- Nevermind, sorted it. Was using a gamebooster app to turn off services, so I guess that was causing issues.

I just ran the same test again and I'm getting 31 FPS average - so a bit of a boost.

Just doing one of the Dark Brotherhood quests, to kill some vampire. Spoke to him and said "I know what you are bloodspawn" or some such.

He replied calmly "Ah, then you wont leave here alive". Except it came out as "Ah, then you wont leave here ali-urk!" as I thrust my daedric sword through his mid section. I only tapped the right trigger, but it was enough for a cinematic kill. Made me laugh out loud

I'm starting to get so good at sneaking that my companions being spotted is now often an advantage; they enemies in the middle of the room rush over after seeing the chap I'm with, but fail to notice me in their mad dash towards him. As a result I can often time the swing of my dagger just right and so grab them and get the throat slitting kill animation as they're charging past. If it wasnt for my loud footed chum I'd have no chance of sneaking up on them in the brightly lit middle of the room.

Finally cracked on with the main quest last night and it's a real beauty :wub: Everything just came together really nicely, but it isn't so bombastic and final a conclusion that it makes going back into the gameworld feel a complete anti-climax either - there is still a civil war to sort out, some staff of Magnus to find and plenty of DB marks to snuff.

The oddest bug I've come across.

Lol, I got that one too, although there were only one clone of him.

Stumbled upon a similar bug around Winterhold when I came across a horse halfway buried like poor Louis, although it was its rear end sticking out of the ground instead. I noticed it looked suspiciously like the rear end of my own horse, which I was riding at the very same time.

Seems like there is some cloning business going on in Skyrim :)
