PC/Mod talk.

This definitely won't be news to all, but there's a Skyrim "multiplayer" mod in the works. http://skyrim-online.com/

It's a bit too early alpha and buggy for my liking at the moment, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. Trading with other players. Seeing them in your world (how very Dark Souls). Multiplayer arenas? Player chat already working.

Quite an achievement by this chap, but since it requires downloading some bloke's .exe, I'll wait until the word of mouth is too good to resist.

I wonder if he'll earn the ire of Bethesda for this...(I do hope not).

I take it you're not on PC, Cosmic_Guru? If you are then you can target and port to her using console commands.

No, sadly - there's lots of clever stuff you can do from the console!

Reading more widely, this (the conclusion of the thieves guild) seems to be very buggy with a whole lot of things which can and do go wrong.

I never noticed them leaving or not and they both came out with me. I got massively confused on that entire bit and didn't really know what was going on, I was playing it with a very low volume so didn't hear a lot of the chat that happened and didn't see either of them until I got out but they did happen to be there...

Ok I've been getting so into smithing and enchanting recently it's ridiculous, and has basically become the main focus of the game for me. I don't even know why - for the most part combat isn't even that hard, and frankly never has been - all I know is it's all about getting those high numbers.

But is anyone else playing on console finding it really hard to use the bow? Because there isn't any auto-aim or VATS to make up for my lack of skill, it's essentially the most unwieldy gun in FPS I've ever had to use. Still useful for sneaking up on still targets and fighting dragons when they're perched up high and just out of swinging distance, but not much else.

I use archery a lot. Higher perks give you a slo-mo zoom, making it much easier to target and shoot off a volley of arrows before an enemy gets to you. Combined with a high sneak ability, I've took out entire rooms of bad guys with nothing but my bow and the shadows for cover.

Clearly the solution is to hang on to

Skeleton Key

for ages until it gets fixed. emot-smugdog.gif

Sneak archery is bloody great, perservere with it.

I'm now so good with all the perks that even if I get one of those 'lots of draugr popping out of coffins' bits, I can basically nail the entire lot of them before they've even got their weapons ready, let alone worked out where I am.

It's like being Lucky Luke or something but with a bow. It's a joy.

I didn't like the slow-mo perk, really. It just made the zooming in animation so slow, which wasn't ideal for me as I use it all the time, not just for firing arrows, but also when checking out what's in the distance.

Sure, it can be hard hitting moving targets sometimes (especially dragons), but with practice also comes the great satisfaction of feeling like an expert marksman.

You should wait to activate slow-mo until you've already nocked the next arrow, which gets around the painfully slow aiming.

D'you mean when you nock your arrow? I tend to do that in normal time, then left trigger for the slo-mo zoom.

edit: what Rudi said.

Yeah that't the thing, unfortunately, I think I'll have realistically finished most of the more interesting missions by the time I'll need to spam level things like restoration and illusion so it may not be worth the trouble.

Even doing the first few mage quests I haven't really needed magic any more powerful than the stuff I started with or have picked up along the way.

Quick question regarding the Unusual gem quest. I think 20 hours back I sold one of them for coin (as I had another), and I can't remember who to. :(

If I have done, and I find the chap, will it still be in their inventory so I can buy it back? Obviously the quest kind of requires you to

collect all 24 of them, so wanting to find out now before I end up with 23 and the last one being ungettable.

I can understand them locking storage of quest items when it comes to being out in the world, but is there really any need if you have it in your house? I'm still stuck carrying some guys lute, got a rough idea where to go but really can't be bothered to travel that far north yet. Very annoying as it weighs about 20.

One issue I have with the slow mo is that it makes it harder to judge moving targets. I'll zoom in, point ahead of where the target is walking, and when I fire, time and thus, the target's walking speed, speeds up and they walk past where I'd aimed before my arrow gets there.

That's probably just me being shit though.

I haven't been able to remove those from my inventory at all. How did you manage to sell it? It's a bit annoying that I can't remove them, to be honest.

Ah, nice one. I hope that is the case, and I wasn't able to sell it then. I remember considering selling it, and assumed that I had. I'll try selling one tonight and see if the game lets me.

Think yourself lucky, unless there happens to be another lute-retrieving quest in game, you have the same on I have which is stuck in my bags as the stupid bint who wants me to get it has bugged out and wont complete the quest, even though she gave me the rewards (which are worth getting btw Lorf, its at

the bards college in Solitude if you want to do it, and you get given a number of skill ups for various skills at once - think it was about 5 skills

Its kind of sad really that I have been playing the game with a sense of trepidation for bugs. It was the same with Oblivion, which I fell foul of some pretty big ones in, and Morrowind, which also had some annoying ones in (or ones which werent bugs but oversights that stopped you from completing certain questlines if you had done stuff in a certain order) but also was probably the most crash-happy game I ever played. In a way though I dont want to explore places I havent been in case there is something there that I risk breaking if I go there before I'm supposed to. Whats perhaps sadder is that despite the bugs, random crashes and occasionally shoddyness, the three would easily place in my top ten games, and time wise have only been beaten by WoW for how much Ive played them. Makes me wonder how amazing I would have thought they were if they had somehow managed to get them out bug free.

I've got the Lute, 2 staffs of something or other, dravins bow and a partridge in a pair tree. About 50-60 weight I think.

Quest items don't weigh anything though. The Bard quests are currently bugged and you cant hand over the items despite the quests completing, leaving them in your inventory. To prove this, just remove all your items and you'll be at 0/whatever your carrying weight is currently at.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I was wandering around just south of Solitude just now, in the woods near the marsh area, and came across a dog who

led me to an abandoned cabin in the woods where his master had died of a disease.

He can also be your companion, much like in the Fallout games.

Boethiah's Calling is borked for me as well as I can't seem to sacrifice anyone, I've taken Mjoll and a DB Initiate up to the shrine and told them to activate the shrine, wait on the mission marker thing and then hammered them with my mace but they don't ever seem to get 'caught' in the shrine as the wiki says that they will. I even left Mjoll up there for absolutely ages and she wasn't there when I went up with the initiate, no idea what happened to her since... anyone had this?

Use the sacrificial dagger you get given!

I had a session last night. I'm nearing the very end of the main quest 'A Blade In The Dark' and I'm level 11 so thought I'd wander off and discover some places and do a few side quests.

I found myself at Solitude and paid off some old man's debts. On my way out of the town, I bumped into this dodgy looking Argonian (the lizard people) who had a warped perspective upon theft. After putting out the lighthouse fire nearby and slaughtering a whole herd of hawkers en route, I returned to find him and his sister had swindled me and set about on a revenge mission. After setting fire to him, I clumped him with my orcish mace and stole his stuff.

The scope of this game is brilliant and the map is truly massive; I'm still not close to the find 100 places achievement and I'm a good 15 hours in. I'm currently a Nord and I've switched to Mage; is it worth having a balanced character or is it best to specialise in one area?

This has massive replay value as there's so much you miss and so much you can do in any order - I'm already planning my next play through as a female high elf.

Blimey you get about don't you? I've been playing for over 50 hours and haven't visited a 100 locations yet, as far as I know anyway :)

Edit: I've just checked and I've visited 58 locations 8)

There's replay value in this, aye; but with games like this I prefer to rinse whatever content I can with the one character and then save replays for messing around with mods. I'm pretty sure there's a couple of hundred hours worth of stuff, probably more. I'm level 35 and 45 hours in, and have barely touched the main quest (I haven't even visited the Greybeards yet!). I haven't visited any of the major towns aside from Whiterun. This game is HUGE!
