Once you find an item with the blacksmith enchant, you can disenchanted it and use it on new enchantments.

There's also a potion of blacksmithing, I had a few but have used them all up now, not sure what ingredients are used to create one.

In short; make them yourself. :)

A whopping 92mb 2.02 update is up for PS3.

Just as I was starting to experience lag as well. This better fix it.

Yes sort of. Blacksmithing potions work on a %. So you can make one, and its power will be relative to how good an alchemist you are Perhaps you will make one that increases blacksmithing improvements by 14% at first, something like that. I'm not sure if the +smithing% enchants stack with potions actually. Or look for Blacksmiths Draught/Philter/Elixir at your local Apothecary.

You can also enchant items (gloves, armour, ring and necklace) with +x% to smithing. So the idea is you take a potion that increases your enchanting, enchant yourself some sweet blacksmithing clothes, then go off and improve the hell out your stuff. Not forgetting to dual enchant everything you have when you hit 100 in enchanting.

And like someone mentioned earlier, if you really want to go crazy, you make a potion to improve enchanting, then make a set of enchanted gear that improves alchemy, then make some potions that improve enchanting even more and use them when you're enchanting your blacksmithing set. I've not exactly mix/maxed anything, my alchemy is woeful despite my blundering attempts to level it up and my natural penchant for herbing from WoW, but I'm level 44 I think and I have about 560 stamina and 520 Health.

Oh yeah, finally, so I was 99 enchanting the other day, and I went out for a soul gem hunt so I would have enough to level up. I come across a little shrine and there's a book and I open the book and it's called Twin Enchants and it's the story of some dude who managed to enchant things with 2 enchants and fuck me the book levels me up to 100. What are the chances (presuming it wasn't scripted).

Quick question about alchemy.

I have a ring which gives 20% better alchemy, a set of gauntlets that give 25% better alchemy and a head-thing which gives 15% better alchemy. I tried wearing all 3 at once but my concoctions don't seem to be any better than if I just wear the gauntlets on their own. Does it not stack like it used to (I think) in Oblivion?

Also sometimes I find when I'm alchemising (?!) that if I add a 3rd ingredient it doesn't make the concotion any stronger at all. Anyone know why?

Its the same with smithing items, you don't see the effect on your stats but it is applied to new items. It does stack too afaik.

A third ingredient with the same effect doesn't make it stronger either. Use the third ingredient to get extra effects instead!

What do you do with Dragon Bones and Scales? I've killed 3 dragons but have no idea what to do with these items

Killed my first giant (at Level 6) by standing on a ledge far away and hit him with about 35 arrows :) I ate his toe

I then felt a pang of guilt as I realised his mammoth is now ownerless :(

I was having trouble killing a mammoth in order to get a tusk. That was until I saw one in the distance suddenly shoot hundreds of feet in the air and then fall to it's death  I took the tusk, job done. I know it was a glitch but I like to think that it was witchcraft. Or a giant lamped it into the sky.

Love this game :)

Right, can someone explain to me why my Daedric dagger is losing damage points? I'm obviously missing something here.

Earlier today it did 99 damage. After upgrading the first one-handed perk so I do double damage, it went to 112 or something. Now it's on 84. I have the same apparel on, and I've made sure I have no diseases by using a shrine.

Any ideas?

Is it an enchanted weapon and has the charge run out?

You don't have some enchanted ring or necklace that you've forgotten to put on?

Have you changed 'stones' to have a different blessing?

Might you have drank a magic potion and were still receiving it's benefits when you first checked your weapon damage level?

Dragon Priests ? Not met them yet. I've got to stop thinking about Skyrim. Its digital crack - you'veonly got to dip into this thread to see everyone doing different things, experiencing different things .... and generally having the videogaming time of their lives.

I've met two so far, both of them whipped me to within an inch of my life before I bested them, definitely the toughest enemies in the game ( so far! ).

They did both have absolutely awesome masks on them though. :omg:

Heh, my first encounter with one was in Volksyyg (sp?) pretty early on while on the hunt for a shout. After repeatedly getting my ass kicked by the Dragon Priest and the preceding Draugr Warlord I ended up quaffing a few invisibility potions and escaping with the shout.

I went back today and destroyed them. 8)

Nope, no enchantment. It is (even after the downgrade) pretty much instakill, so I've not needed it. I've not altered my ring/necklace combo for tens of hours now, so I know it's not that.

I didn't think there was a stone to boost one-handed? Same goes for all of the shrines where you can get blessed. And I definitely didn't have any potion, as the only ones I use are for smithing/enchanting and boosting my health during a fight.

I'm pretty much clueless.

Can someone help with me the "Breaching Security" quest.

What's the best way to kill Gaius?

I know his schedule but there never seems to be a good time to kill him.

Is the bonus worth it or should I just murderize him when he's on the roads between cities?

Is that the Assassin's quest? I got lucky with that:

When he was in Riften, he did a patrol round the Jarl's castle where he was on his own and I shanked him there. Perhaps, go to a city and rest long enough for it to be the day he's meant to appear then follow him around and wait for an oppurtunity?

I tried that when he was in Windhelm but there wasn't a time when he was alone.

He didn't seem to mind being stalked throughout the whole day by someone dressed like Batman brandishing a huge mace though.

What's the weapon to do stealth kills? I've got the Backstab perk but no weapon I have seems to do it.

Breaching Security:

I just waited till night when he was in Windhelm, sneaked into the Jarl's palace & the guard barracks, waited till the patrolling guard left the room & the other was asleep, stabbed him, quaffed an invisibility potion & walked out the front door.

If its the bonus I'm thinking of, yeah its pretty good. :eyebrows:

I waited for him to get to Whiterun, being my home town and the only place I was Thane of, I thought I'd get less grief than when I tried to kill him in Solitude barracks. I do find it odd that even if you're never spotted when you do a kill, all the guards know it's you as soon as you go near the corpse. I'm just a curious bystander occifer!

Soooo....have I broken the main quest?

That Blades woman has told me to seek out the guy in the Riften slums. Pretty sure I know the one she was talking about, he has his own room down in the vault and only speaks through a slot on the door. Thing is, even after getting her advice on what to tell him, he still responds the same as before; 'go away' 'I know powerful people' etc. Am I going to need to load up an earlier save or is this actually the wrong man?

In brighter news, game now looks spiffing with the textures sorted out, and I was impressed before.
