I must say, dual wielding is pretty great for capturing souls. If I absolutely need a soul, I can just get up close and batter the shit out of whoever with my "Mr Frosty" ebony axe in one hand, and my "Soul Sucker" mace in the other hand. Saves fiddling with a bow.

Although I do have a bow. My archery skill is quite high now, and it's fucking amazing. Taking out an entire room full of about 20 Draugr without getting so much as a scratch is very satisfying.

Archery is how I collect souls. I did have an enchanted bow which collected them for me, but now I have the perk which puts it on the bound bow.

I was walking around and I found a place called the Hall of the Vigilant. It is home to a group of people called the Vigilants of Stendarr, who fucking hate Daedra. They keep talking shit about what they will do to Daedra and people who worship Daedra.

Can I just say they are not very fucking vigilant, are they? Dozy bastards havent even noticed him.

Any tips on where to find something with fire resistance? I've got cold and shock sorted but feel rather vulnerable to fire and haven't come across anything I could use or deconstruct to learn the enchantment.

It's pretty random. My first game, it took my till about level 35 before I found a shock damage enchantment. In my second one, I found it on a weapon at level 20.

Trying going round all the vendors who sell armour and rings/amulets and see if there's one going cheap. I'm not sure if store stocks are predetermined or randomised, but there's often a couple of enchanted items for sale.

Okay so spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't found or completed Darklight Tower outside Riften:

So, yeah, I completed it ages ago. I can't even remember why I was there but I decided to help the seemly mad bitch who just killed someone (I thought I'd better help her just incase she was the way I join the dark brotherhood). So, Illia and I plow through the rest of Darklight Tower and kill everyone... shit, I even help her kill her evil mum (even although we ended up fighting her mum and a dragon at the same time). So afterwards I spoke to Illia and she decided to join me on my travels.

Looking back at my saves, it seems she's been with me for about 60 hours (real time) now and Illia and I are now quite close. She likes that I bestow upon her top quality flawless armour and kick ass weapons and I make sure she doesn't die, even if that has resulted in my character dying more often. I like that she's not a condesending bitch like Lydia ("I'm sworn to carry your burdens" - fuck off Lydia), that her destruction powers mean that she doesn't need a bow for ranged combat.

So I'm now at the point in the main quest where I've met Delphine and Esbern and... main quest spoilers:

I've finished the Alduin's Wall quest. Delphine asked for a follower and so I was torn... I know Illia has an unhappy existance when we part. It's only happened once and I reloaded an earlier save because she just goes back to a desolate Darklight Tower and won't be my follower any more. That's no life for her. So I decided she should be a blade. At least she'll have friends that way. Even if it means she can't be my follower anymore.

And, of course, now I'm free to pursure other ladies of Skyrim.

Mjoll The Lioness and Aela The Huntress both need me. And I yearn to please Susanna the Wicked, even although she doesn't seem to want to speak to me much.

Re: Money Making.

Alchemy is the way to go. A potion with multiple effects can rake in the megabucks.

Mix Crimson Nirnroot (found during the mainquest) with regular Nirnroot (found all over and grows back) and you get a potion with 4 effects. For my character these are valued at over 1000 gold and can be sold for around 500.

Alternatively just mixing three really common ingredients to try and get a potion with as many effects as possible works - you usually end up with something utterly useless, like a poison with a lot of positive effects or a potion that cripples you in some way but whatever they sell!

My biggest problem is not having enough merchants to sell to.

Can some just quickly explain how enchanting works?

I destroyed some weapons to learn how to enchant but when I select one of them it says 'not enough charge'

It goes like this:

Weapons/armour have enchantments.

You learn these enchantments by destroying these weapons/armour

You apply these enchantments to weapons/armour with the use of Soul Gems. The larger the Soul Gem you use when applied to armour then the more powerful it'll be, or when applied to a weapon, how many uses of it you'll have before the charge runs out.

As you use an enchanted weapon you'll use up some of the charge - the charge meter is indicated as a blue bar in the bottom right of the screen.

When the blue charge bar has completely changed to black then you've used up all the charge for the weapon and you'll get a 'Not enough charge' message when you try to use it (you can still use this weapon i.e. the physical damage will still apply (unless its a staff) but the enchantment for it won't work).

To recharge the weapon you need a filled Soul Gem. When you have one in your inventory just highlight your weapon in the 'Weapons' menu and you'll see at the bottom of the screen an option to recharge it (RB on the 360). Press the button, select the Soul Gem from the list that appears, the charge from your Soul Gem will be applied to the weapon, and the Soul Gem will be destroyed. The larger the Soul Gem you use the more the weapon will be charged.

SPAGGLEHORN the Barefisted Brawler!

Without his heavy armour and just in his pants, SPAGGLEHORN felt like the Dragon Born-again. He ran with the deer, splashed around in the river – for a while life was good. But in the back of his mind he knew that he’d not last long in the realm of Skyrim without some decent protection and the only way to prove his worth was to seek out some dragons, beat them to death with his bare hands and wear their bits!

The first dragon was a fire breather, thankfully SPAGGLEHORN still had the 18% resistant necklace but still it was a lengthy battle with a lot of shouting and running around. The night sky had blood red and orange lights in it and many, many potions where drank. The dragon had been defeated and SPAGGLEHORN made some heavy armour out of its bones and scales back in Whiterun.

The second dragon fell quicker, his new armour gave him the confidence to get some punches to its head and much to his surprise achieve a knockout blow! It couldn’t be dead because it did not burn or relinquish a soul, it was simply unconscious. After looting its body SPAGGLEHORN decided that this dragon would make a great pair of new boots.

You are looking for one or more of:

boots

shield

necklace

ring

Therefore I suggest you check the inventory of the two blacksmiths in Whiterun, and the blacksmith, clothing shop and odds and sods in Solitude - I would bet you would find something from one of those in your first sweep.

However, bear in mind that until you have maxed out your enchanting skill you will be limited in the strength of enchantments you can apply, so if you find a necklace, say, with 30% or above resistance, I would be tempted to keep it intact in your inventory and slip it on when you need to.

Alchemy gets pretty addictive when you start making potions with multiple effects which go for megabucks. I haven't got to the part of the main quest you mention but I find mixing giant's toe, creep cluster and wheat is the way to go.

The perk which lets you sell any inventory to any vendor is one of the most useful non combat ones in the game IMO.

What's the point of megabucks? Perks are too valueble to waste on pointless cash IMO.

Well, after a certain stage anyway, no point, which is why I wouldn't take any other perks in this tree. However, selling your surplus gear also increases your speech skill which is a useful thing to do because of the bribe, persuade and intimidate options it opens up and taking this particular perk gives you a lot more efficiency in this process. It also enables you to offload the more expensive but useless items such as (in my case) staffs which exceed the vendor's cash - go to the clothing shop and see a really useful but expensive necklace and you can sell her the expensive useless weapon in exchange.

Actually the Speech tree seems generally a bit useless, certainly I've rarely if ever failed to pass a speech check and thats with no investment at all. My skill is around 60 from all the selling, skill books and so on, and with an Amulet of Dibella and the Masque of Clavicus Vile equipped whenever I am 'about town' it seems I can pass just about anything I need to.

Thieves' Guild questline spoilers (Towards the end)

I've been abusing the fuck out of the Skeleton Key after getting it from Mercer.

Do you you loose it at any point during the next quest, "Darkness Returns"?

I've held off doing completing that quest just in case as I want to try and get my lockpick skill up using the key

Once you start hitting the higher levels and assuming you're Smithing to make them I think you can pretty easily hit the armour cap in a few different types, so it's mainly about what you like the look of and what you have easiest access to.

Dragon stuff you can't buy in shops or find, unlike all the other stuff.
