I hope that there's stuff like the castle/wizards tower plug-ins for Oblivion, where you get to have a fucking awesome house which perfectly suits your character. I'd actually be much happier with new content (houses, weapons etc) and some extra jobs and stuff than I would with new quests and storys.

There are a great many ways to earn money in the game. Only for the strictest role player would I imagine most of them to be off limits.

Is there any reason why the price has dropped so quickly? It seems unusual considering it's sold pretty well already.

2 theories.

1. They want to trigger a second wave of retail purchases/cash in as much as possible on the good word of mouth in a crowded market.

2. It decimates the 2nd hand trade in value. But it probably won't stop people trading it in. If it does go up to a 25-30ish price point after or just before Christmas, they will have likely copped a lot of stock for a lot less outlay and will be earning very good margins on it.

I imagine it's part of a strategy by Game group which they've been waiting for one particular game to test it on.

Such as? I like the woodcutting, but most of the quests are "go here, kill this" which is where most of the cash comes from. Working for the thieves guild is the best thing to do for cash. I'd like more stuff like the woodcutting, or running a shop which you can own and hire someone to work in, then supply items to by smithing and enchanting them.

More guilds maybe, a traders guild the opportunity to join the watch and help protect a city.

The stealth kills in this are amazingly satisfying. I'd recommend getting up close and personal while invisible with a dagger to everyone.

Fixed that for you. Being an Illusion mage I spend a lot of time invisible, and the slo-mo blur of a dagger across the throat as my character explodes into blue-hued visibility is a kill second to none.

Btw boodles, the item in question's purpose:

its like an infinite, unbreakable soul gem

Aha.

Cheers pal. Does that mean then I don't need to haul about normal ones?

It never appears in the charge menu but then I might have not ever charged it... I only noticed the other day the ludicrous amount of soul gems I carry with me 'just in case' I have 'just in case' OCD nightmares with this game, resulting in probably carrying around half of my weight in potions and scrolls that I never use but I might

Also, did someone say quest items don't weigh anything? As I've now got about 4 things belonging to people that have died, either at my hand or other means. One of them weighs 2, which aggravates my weight juggling gland no end.

Hey I get that from the top level stealth perk too! Wish I'd looked more at the magic trees earlier in the game, some of the illusion stufff sounds wicked.

The quest reward you refer to is a grand soul gem so you need to kill something large like a mammoth to fill it. If you are looking to train enchanting you are likely to need to buy / pick up / steal all the empty petty and lesser soul gems you come across in shops and dungeons so you can fill them with souls from your expeditions in the wild. Keep the bigger soul gems for creating armour or weapons you want to use yourself and use the smaller ones for stuff to sell. Later on you can ignore all the smaller soul gems completely and just rely on grands and black soul gems for all your enchanting needs.

heh, azuras star is super handy for keeping your weapons topped up, it definitely should appear under the charge menu.

A shame you took it to the girl though, if you take it to the dude you get a black version of it which can also capture human (ie grand) souls. Makes enchanting a breeze.

And man items you can't drop are stupid. There should just be a 'are you really sure you want to discard this?' Message.

The item he's talking about will take souls of all sizes though.

Ballbags. I've never used her as a companion either, which I probably should do now I don't have that ability... I'll have to try and make sure it's charged as it has never appeared on my charge menu, I'm sure of it.

I'm sure someone said they didn't weigh anything even when it says that they do, obviously vain hope on my part.

I've only recently started going enchant bonkers, I need to get a soul trap bow on the go as I keep forgetting about souls until everyone in the area has been murdered.... The skooma dealers and everyone there (that may well have been innocent as there seemed to be some NPC's just called 'gambler' all went down without ever seeing me. A Halo type replay would be hilarious for some of these situations; one minute everyone's just pottering about quite happily and then in the space of about a minute, 5 people seem to have spontaneously combusted! Oh wait, it must have been my imagination...

How exactly do you so sealth kills?

Creep up behind someone and attack while staying hidden (though power attacks don't seem to work for this). You can get a special killing animation if it's a one-hit kill (be sure to have some of those sneaking perks for extra backstab damage).

If it's a suitable item apparently you can place them on weapon racks in order to get them out of your inventory. I can't confirm that myself, though, as my rack in Whiterun isn't interactive for some reason.

Right...I'm at the end of my fucking tether with The Black Star mission. I'm now inside

Azura's Star

and getting my arse handed to me on a plate by three Dremora. They just launch fire attacks at me and even though I am apparently a higher level than them noting seems to work. They just kill me and I get more and more frustrated with the game to the point where I might just give up. Can anybody help me out on this one please?

I recall being pleasantly surprised at how easily I took the Dremora down. I only had to fight one at a time (taking a breather between each one for my health/stamina/magicka to regenerate, and saving the game of course), and I had recently gotten a staff from a previous quest that allowed me to summon a Dremora to fight for me as well. I also quaffed a shit-ton of health potions.

Or turn the game down to easy.

Are you sure your weapon rack isn't working? Equip and unsheath the weapon you want to place on the rack, then activate the rack to place the weapon. It's a terrible bit of UI as it works very differently to everything else in the game, and confuses me every time I want to display my old enchanted weapons.

I don't even get the "Activate" prompt. My other character's works fine, but I don't have any outstanding quest items in their inventory to try.

I'm making and enchanting Iron Daggers with the Banish enchantment and they are worth over 1200 each. That's with the worst gems.

There is a ridiculous amount of Dwarven Metal to be stolen from the Museum or just taken from the ruins. You'd be hard pressed to take it all in 10 trips.

I found the infamous backward-flying dragon last night. Fucker flew away when I ran near him. Or maybe he was flying forward like in the Red Dwarf episode 'Backwards', I don't know. Also there was a dragon which just flew in one point, not moving. I kept bombarding it with arrows, each one giving me sneak bonus damage, but the dragon jerked about with each hit (and also lowering the framerate with each hit). By the end it was spazzing out massively (then disappearing as I shot the fatal arrow) and the game ran at about 2 fps for about 5 minutes. Somehow, I'm still hopeful for a fix to all this mess.

I have also had this today. Is it near an area with

hot springs?

. Tried it about 5 times but can't get that dragon without it spazzing out and the game going into slideshow mode.

Is there a point to dragon bones? I can't kill dragons yet without eating through about 100 health potions, so I was just avoiding them for the time being.

But I've just got to the mission where you're dragged out to the middle of nowhere with some woman from the pub - and I'm actually finding it impossible. All I've got is a big hammer. My bow skills are useless.

Yeah, I think it's the dragon at Bonestrewn Crest. I can't kill it because it's glitched to never be able to land. When its health gets low enough that it should be forced to land, it just spazzes out and goes completely mentile.
