90 hours in I've hit a possibly game breaking bug that prevents me progressing the single player campaign.

Spoilered just incase.

So, I'm up to the point where I need to summon and capture a dragon at whiterun. I've spoken to the Jarl and said I'm ready, go to the balcony and use my fire shout and nothing happens, tried repeatedly.

I check my other quests and I've got to kill that named dragon at the throat of the world for the blades to help me again, I've been there and spoken to him which doesn't give me any option to save him or anything, dissapear, come back to kill him and he just cannot die, he gets to minimal life then I cant kill him and he just regenerates and then doesn't attack me.

Really pissed off with it now.

Ideas to fix? this is xbox version.

By fire shout you mean the one you were given to summon the dragon?

Are you using Dragonrend on the one at Throat of the World?

Sorry they're probably both daft questions.

I had a Skyrim dream last night. For some reason, Chris Rock was my companion, and it was kind of like a buddy comedy. Then he seemed to have some sort of episode, and sat down, drawing his knees up underneath his chin, where he rocked back and forth, quietly sobbing.

The dream ended at that point, thankfully.

I really wish there were a 'call horse' command or something similiar. Often I find myself getting off if I need to sneak up on someone or just scout a bit ahead to see if it's safe. Then sometimes when I run back to my horse, it has fled and I need to look for it.

Plus, a satchel on the horse to stash loot.

Not daft...

I'm using fire breath. That the wrong one? And I didn't realise I needed dragon rend as my hidden arrows take him down to nothing in 1 hit... I'll give it a shot now ta :)

Edit: you fixed me on both counts. Thank you sir!

I must admit, I haven't used horses at all. Compared to RDR, they're pretty terrible. I sometimes feel as though I can get there just as fast running. Besides, they ran everywhere in the Lord of the Rings films! If it's good enough for Aragorn, it's good enough for me.

It's the way they behave as living things when you don't want them to (in combat) and yet handle like tanks when you're riding them.

Shadow of the Colossus is to my mind the only game to have horse riding feel like riding a horse. Even RDR felt a bit too much like you were just 'driving' the horse.

Why were you trying to summon the dragon to Whiterun with Fire Breath?

I've managed to do this stage in the main quest without killing Paarthurnax. I got the name of the dragon from Esbern, even though he said he wasn't going to help me more until I killed Paarthurnax, but I'm sure if he had refused to help, I could've just got the name from Paarthurnax. I think maybe there was a little bug stemming from me having already completed the civil war storyline - I read online that if the war is still ongoing, you can get as far as forming the plan to trap the dragon, but the Jarl of Whiterun makes you start peace talks with the two factions to continue.

Can you get rid of horses? I was given one as part of a quest and now it turns up every time I fast travel, immediately alerting enemies to my presence. I don't want to kill it, but there doesn't seem to be any other way of making it go away. No options to stable it or anything as far as I can see.

Kill it and cook a delicious steak from its flesh.

I bought this on the 360 on offer, and fired it up last night. 10 minutes in and I got stuck to the floor in a room in the keep - in a way that used to happen in games in the 90s. Had to quit. Doesn't bode well...

Yea, my crash within 5 mins of starting has me nervous to play this game. I wouldn't be able to cope being 50 hours in and getting stuck with a game breaking bug.

Um, wow. I just loaded this up on PC for the first time in a week or so and I'm sure there's a massive improvement in the framerate indoors. It used to stutter like fuck when you went into a house or dungeon, anywhere with lots of fire/light. Have they patched the stutter everyone was experiencing?

you on a dual core? they've optimized the code for that.

The last patch notes mentioned improvements for Core2duo processors specifically. I've noticed no improvement though. The game is very reliant on CPU. I have a very good graphics card but still have to play on medium due to rocking a Core2duo. Wish I had an i5.

So no sign of the patch for xbox yet? I'm getting a bit hacked off because my light armour/archery/sneak charcater is level 50 but the lack of any magic restistance now means that the tougher versions of dragons take me down with one fire or frost breath. I used to stand up to them quite well.

So I decided to ignore dragons and concetrate on building up my wealth... done a few quests, sold a lot of stuff then decided I'd like a house in Riften (because there's more shops and sellers there). I finished the tasks to enable me to get the house, got it all nicely upgraded... however... now every time I go near Riften a fucking Elder dragon appears and kills everyone.

You installed it to HD?

I've had about 2 crashes in 90hrs of gameplay but my wife crashed at the character creation screen every single time for about 5 times in a row til she installed it.

What're your combat skills and equipment like?

I'm 48 and using my custom enchanted glass bow and plain ol' steel arrows I never struggle with Dragons. Including Elders.
