Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I've been focusing on Janus, my Nord character, because mages and dragons got too tough for my other character. For Bethesda squandered my resistance, for a pocketful of mumbles, such are (patch) promises.

All lies and jest (backwards flying dragons) - still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.

Ah well I had a good session last night, stayed up too late and feel rough this morning, but I think it was worth it :)

Reached level 41, my sneak finally hit 100 too; the top level perk is fucking sweet, makes me feel totally ninja (even though after using it the first time I got a bug where I'd somehow managed to break the sprint key, could sprint or silent roll.. had to revert to an autosave :/) being able to just turn invisible at will and then get sneak attacks all over the shop is AMAZE.

I also decided to try finish the Galadur Amulet quest, I was slightly wary after hearing from some workmates that it was tricky. Pfffft what a piece of piss! The fight music didn't even start, and I was fully expecting to fight the 'father', but he just exploded by himself ; boo :(

I'm getting slightly fed up of fighting draugr as well, I'm not sure if it's just the quests and nature of the places I've stumbled across, but sheesh, they're a bit boring now and pose literally no threat.

Finished the session with a big old blacksmithing and enchanting frenzy, worked out the enchant stat has very little bearing on the actual strength of the enchantment, looks like ill be piling the next few perks into getting the enchants up to 200% strength :)

My ebony bow does sick damage already though, 170 per ebony arrow :o

I'm getting to the point where I'm going to start murdering imperials and stormcloaks for fun :D (and archery levelling)

And that's not all! Look:

Great news, I set the game aside for a bit to quickly power through Revelations until they fixed the broken patch, but I think I'll wait an extra week and maybe squeeze Batman in before the LAA fix hits :omg:

Waiting for the official LAA is probably not a good idea judging by Bethesda's programming/testing skills.

The community LAA hasn't caused me any problems yet, so why wait?

The problem for me is I that re-installed the EE of the Witcher (which I hadn't played), modded it with the amazing Full Combat rebalance mod, pumped up the graphics as high as possible, v-synced and tripple buffered it and it's a 60fps glorious RPG that I just can't stop playing now. :D

I've tried getting my sneak up. I've tried getting my archery up. I've tried cooking the living hell out of everything with flames. Nothing beats sprinting up to some fucker who's mouthing off that I shouldn't have come here and stoving their fucking head in with my Daedric Warhammer.

More quests have lead to death of the people of Markarth. I'm almost tempted just to kill everyone to see what happens.

Are people like the Jarl and their housecarl invincible in this? I've not tried anything on with anyone 'big' in a random manner like that.

There's quite a few unkillable NPC's in each town, I've not found a Jarl I can murder yet. Housecarls die though, unless they're part of a main quest. You can't kill as many people as you could in Fallout.

Have you got it installed on one hard drive and are you switching the hard drive from one console to the other? Is the problem the same on both consoles.

One of the consoles is definitely borked (the newer white one), just gives me a red ring. Could be a corrupt save I guess, since the first time it crashed was the first time that console threw up the RROD.

Sounds like a save game issue to me, if the behaviour is the same on both machines.

Have you tried loading an old save Vic? Or starting a new game?

Don't really want to start a new game! :( If it's a save game issue surely it'll just do the same when I reach a certain point again?

I've done a few saves over the top of the last save where the problem started.. not tried an earlier save game though, might try that.

edit: just tried a save from before it crashed the first time, 5 mins later, crashes. :(

I decided the only suitable life partner for a Khajiit in this game is The Lioness. The "ceremony" itself was a bit of a let down though and as soon as I said "i do" everyone, including the bride, buggered off, I still don't know where she is - not at home cooking the lunch like she should be (she is staying in her place mind you, no point in cluttering up my pad again having just disposed of the housecarl). I do like the Riftin house though and for you budding alchemists it comes with a garden attached.

Tantalisingly close now to be able to duel enchant and whip up the Ultimate Dragonscale outfit for the rest of the game.

I reckon I will end up about level 56 without going out of my way to pimp any magic skills or switching to heavy armour / 2H.

I just meant starting a new game to help diagnose the problem - ie if its as bad right at the beginning you can rule out the save game idea.

The old save you tried, how far back in the game was it, compared to current progress? If you can, try loading one from about half your total playtime.

How do you get the Riften house? I see no options to ask for work when I speak to the Jarl or her cronies. Does it involve doing the thieves guild questline? I don't want to be a dirty thief. ( Well, in reality my character isn't qualified to be one, and I try to ignore Bethesda's "become a master of every guild in one playthrough" approach. What am I? A bloody renaissance man? )

Everyone- watch the markarth quest. You'll know the one I mean when you come to it.

DO NOT KILL ANY GUARDS DURING THIS QUEST. Just submit and go to jail.

Spent most of last night trying to 'fix' my save because of this. I currently have 3 quests in the town I can't complete because of this.

Yeah that bastard caught me out good and proper, if I'd have known beforehand I'd have taken a completely different approach.

So if I'm at level 40 and I've never put any points into magic (playing a pure sneak/archery/melee character), is it now too late for me to change my mind, as I've only got 10 levels worth of points left to stick in it? I was thinking about doing the Mage's college questline.

At level 40 you potentially have 41 points left to get.

I don't have enough Magicka to cast the spell I need to even enter the mages college. :( I'm about 40 / 50 points short. I've been scouring the world for extra magicak potions and only found one that ups it by 20. I did read you can do a shout but I don't get that conversation option. I can say that I'm dragonborn but she just laughs in my face. :(
