Wtf no posts since 10pm last night?! For shame.

70 hours in and I've only just seen my first Falmers :D they'd set up home in some kind of dwarven ruin, none of them even saw me. I also managed to two-backstab a dwarven centurion whoo.

Also just found my first ever glass bow, nice - now to work out if its better than my ebony Soul Eater :)

Is there any way to change your character's name? I just started it and after configuring my character I mistakenly skipped over the naming, so my guy's just called Prisoner <_<

If you're playing it on the PC, you can do it through the Console by typing in showracemenu.

NOTE: Your health Magicka, Stamina, and Health levels will be spread evenly on using this depending on your character's level. It will remove any point distributions that were custom.

NOTE2: Make sure you are in the third person view before editing your character, otherwise you will be invisible, and unable to see the changes made on your character

NOTE3: *removed due to spoilers*

NOTE4: will NOT modify your attributes/skills/points/etc. unless you change the race, sex, or select a preset from the list. Modifying purely cosmetic things like skin color/warpaint/hair/face shape/etc. will leave your points unchanged. TIP: if the character moves it's hands in front like they were tied, it's a clear indication that the skills will be messed up; if the hands remain parallel to the body it's fine.

NOTE5: A way to fix the modified attributes error is to simply re-equip your gear. It may not be the best fix but it is better than nothing.

NOTE6: will remove racial resistances when used until you re-load from the main menu.

A +1, that's great news! At level 34 I've still got LOADS of perks to go :D

Just bear in mind post 50 you'll have to start doing what I've had to start and level up areas you're not really proficient at, and won't get the perks to improve them a lot if you're putting them in other areas. Enchanting, Smithing and Alchemy help with this though, as you can artificially boost your ability in areas you've not invested in.

I had a weird bug during the last quest of the Stormcloak Rebellion storyline.

It's not very spoilery, but don't watch if you don't want to know anything about that quest:

It happened when I got caught in an Unrelenting Force shout while I was opening a door. I was playing in 3rd-person, not sure if that made a difference.

As you can see in the video, I was able to play normally in first person, but in 3rd-person I couldn't do anything. It continued when I left the room and seemed to prevent me using alchemy tables and enchanters - anything that you do in third person. I eventually managed to fix it by drawing my weapon.

Everyone- watch the markarth quest. You'll know the one I mean when you come to it.

DO NOT KILL ANY GUARDS DURING THIS QUEST. Just submit and go to jail.

Spent most of last night trying to 'fix' my save because of this. I currently have 3 quests in the town I can't complete because of this.

Falmers are blind. They locate enemies by sound.

Oh ok Mr Pedant. None of them were even aware of my presence :P

Also - is the black version of azuras star bugged? The mage who I gave it to said the trade off was that it would only hold black souls, however its still collecting common/petty souls  get in!!

Eurogamer:

Bethesda is working hard to stamp out lingering issues with the PlayStation 3 version of Skyrim, but a fix won't feature in the impending 1.3 update. As detailed on the Bethesda Blog, the developer is aware some PS3 gamers are still experiencing problems with the game following the recent 1.2 update. It's currently attempting to isolate the cause of the problem.

"We've been reaching out to a number of those users to collect save games, so we can take a look at their specific issues," explained the post. "Right now we know it's not one thing, but a combination of smaller ones that some folks are seeing, but others are not. Some seem to be the PS3 autosaving in the background (you can turn that off), some may be SPU AI updates, and some may relate to dynamic system memory allocation. These fixes are not in the current 1.3 update that is in final testing, but will be in future ones," it continued. "We understand how frustrating it can be when your game is having issues, and we thank all of you for your continued feedback and patience. Rest assured we take your gameplay experience seriously and will continue working on this until it's resolved."

Oh ok Mr Pedant. None of them were even aware of my presence :P

Doesnt that depend on whether you return it to the god or that shifty bloke that hangs out near the college?

I've not finished that quest yet as I can't kill the wizards...again.

Bloody wizards!

yeah well that's the thing, you're supposed to be making a choice between human souls or beast souls. Except choosing human is actaully like choosing human and beast together

And wizards can be bastards. Is SPAGGLEHORN a sneaky archery type? Wanderer is, and all he had to do was quaff an invisibility potion and hide out while everyone forgot about him. He then buffed himself massively and just sniped away.

Oh and another thing: use Ward spells. Holy shit they stopped me getting one shotted by evil fireballs a treat :)

Had a fun evening training conjuration, I've been trying to work out how to power level it so I've started entering fights, conjuring a familiar to help, then once the enemy is dead I reanimate them, then kill them again. That way I get two valid conjurations because the reanimated enemy counts if you attack it and it enters a combat mode, and I get a bonus to whatever I use to kill it the second time.

Sorry if this has already been posted but there is a much quicker way to level conjuration.

Either find a slow enemy, like a sand crab so you can just keep avoiding it, or aggro one that can't get to you i.e. a slaughter fish while you stand on a bank. Then dual equip bound sword, conjure one in each hand and then sheath them, then rinse and repeat. You'll increase a level each go below level 40. In this way I levelled from 25 to 40 in about 2 mins.

Yeah the wizard guy with the daedra minions bummed me in the face many, many times. It's ok with decent magic resistance and a bit of luck though, unless you want to cheese it (which does forfeit the daedra hearts).

I have reached the point in the game where I have fairly decent magical gear and fairly decent archery gear. It is a ballache swapping all the time when I decide I want to switch between being a fire spewing cannon of doom and a silent but deadly assassin. I wish there were some kind of outfitter mod where I could just quickly switch between pre determined sets of gear.

It would be a lot easier if the ledges there were fall-off-able, then you could FUS-RO-DAH! them the hell away.

Whilst not what you're after, the final Enchanting perk allows you to put two enchantments on a single item. A bit of a roundabout solution, I know, but it might be your best option.

That said, is your apparel in the Favourites menu? Might speed things up slightly.

Sneaky, I like it. Any tips for quickly levelling the other schools of magic? I'm level 42 at the moment and as a sneaky warrior type I haven't really used magic a great deal, so will be looking for ways to progress once I hit 50.

I managed to do that bit by

summoning other things to keep the Daedra busy while I picked them off from a distance.

Slight problem for me as I'm just a stupid dual wielding orc berserker mentalist, who doesn't really do any other battle techniques besides hitting things hard in the face.

I did it by:

just running past and ignoring the daedra and just kept hitting the wizard and chugging potions, once he's dead run right to the bottom and line of sight them until you get pulled back (which happens pretty quick after he's dead)

The only other one I've done for magic is Illusion, basically all you need to do is get the muffle spell. You can cast this anywhere even in towns with no problem and it will level you ever time you cast it up to about level 15, then it's 2 times a level to about level 40 etc... Basically just equip it and spam it as you are walking around and you'll level up in no time. Illusion will also really help your char type as muffle makes you quieter and Invisibility is in that school as well.

As for the others the only ones I've looked into is Smithing which again is really really easy (basically just forge iron daggers). Bascially if you google 'Skyrim Power Levelling' there are a load of tutorials on youtube and other articles.

Well i inadvertantly read something earlier while looking up the azura's star stuff. Something that sounds too good to pass up..

I suddenly have a plan for tonights session: I shall trek north of Winterhold and find Septimus Signus's Outpost.

I triggers a quest with a cool reward. I know the reward but not the quest, so its not really spoilt hehe :)

For those who'd also like to embark on a crazy mission in the snow :

the reward is a book which, when read, allows you to select whether to to get +5 to all skills under one of the trees; mage, warrior or thief.

Hot damn. That's handy when you're finding it slow to level up.

Actually now I'm thinking about it, I may leave it til I hit 50..
