Excellent thanks!

Think I've just about got my head round smithing.

Need to up my enchantment levels now!

You use ingredients every time though.

So if you improve an ebony sword to fine, that'll cost you an ebony ingot. Upgrading your fine ebony sword to legendary will cost you another ebony ingot. Go straight from vanilla to legendary, it'll only cost you one ebony ingot.

In other news, my week long quest to get my mission log under some form of control is almost complete.. Now only have 2 miscellaneous quests on the go (Joining the Stormcloaks or Legion)...

I tried to attempt that last night after I realised my list was becoming stupidly long. The very first side quest I did led me to a new town where I was accosted by npcs who added 4 new quests to my log.

'Sakes.

Still, it's more excuse to explore and murder. Explorder if you will. :sherlock:

Seems I can no longer reliably place books on the bookshelves since the patch. :(

I tried to add a load of books to my shelf until it said I could not add anymore. All those I thought I had added were not actually shown on the shelf, though removed from my inventory, and I can't 'activate' the shelf anymore.

Yeah, it seems that shelves now simply devour books with no hope of ever retrieving them. I had an autosave from entering the house so I managed to retrieve my books, but now I cannot fill the empty bookshelves in my house.

What's the point of playing with empty bookshelves? <_<

Where can I get a mannequin from? I want to show off some clothes in my house. I don't think there's one in my Whiterun house...

Also, I'm having an issue with items (haven't downloaded the patch yet) that I use for quests. If I have a book or amulet or whatever that I've used in a quest, even though I no longer need it as I've completed said quest, I can't get rid of it. They're not very heavy things but it is really annoying as I cart so much around it just gets in my way.

Ah, I think that happened to me pre-patch (same with a lot of these issues it seems). I tried to stick a book on Ysolda's shelves and it just disappeared. I thought it had fallen or something and forgot about till now.

Same here. Even when I don't speak to anyone I manage to pick up new quests by burgling the place I was sent to and triggering a "deliver the sword of omens to Liono" quest when I grab a random object.

What do you mean, 'mannequin'? If you mean a partner, I don't think that'll help you inventory problem as you still wont be able to give away the quest items.

If anyone is concerned about game breaking bugs, why not start a new character? Take the opposite choice at the start and try something different!

I've done this and am rocking a character with dual daggers; really nice, fast double attacks!

Sorry, that's meant to be two seperate questions but I didn't space them out! People are talking about displaying armour in their homes on mannequins.... the quest item thing is a different issue! I'll make my post clearer.

They only have them in specific houses. Solitude and Winterhold definitely have them but the only other house I have so far is the Whiterun which doesn't

Hmmmm, PC only or just me? I can add/remove weapons, just not powers.

I've figured it out, they've bollocksed up the button remapping. I'd switched X and Y around, never had any troubles in the menus before, but now suddenly X does what Y did and vice versa, even though the command list at the bottom remains unchanged.

Besides, After you've got a horse, there's fucking nothing else to spend the money on.

Not convinced. I've bought a shit-ton of iron ingots. I spend a fair chunk of cash when I see things I want to de-enchant to grab the enchantment, too.

House or Horse?

Get a house, you need a nice place to rest your weary head after chasing dragons.

Get a horse, you need something you can pour your love into after yet another follower dies because they run into your arrow line of sight.

I find horses pretty pointless. If you could shoot from them it would be a different story. And if they didn't have AI it would be better than the AI they have at the moment.

But I guess it is nice riding around on one. Until it gets itself killed.

It's worth it, just to have a place to store all your loot that you can't/don't want to sell.

Besides, After you've got a horse, there's fucking nothing else to spend the money on.

But why not just store stuff everywhere else for free - it won't ever disappear, will it?

I did buy a house in Whiterun, but prior to that I just chucked a lot of items into a drawer at the companions, then later I did the same at the mage college and the thieves guild. Doesn't seem like there is any benefit to storing it at your house as opposed to these places, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

The only danger of storing stuff in random chests etc in the world is that some of these containers are set to refresh after a certain time, resetting the random stuff that appears in them, and potentially getting rid of everything you've stored in them

Houses provide several "safe" containers that do not refresh.

EDIT - I was last :(

The first horse I had got itself killed almost immediately during a tough fight against bandits. It did save my life in that fight, though, so it was worth it.

Second one just mysteriously vanished after I did a quest that involved stealing a horse (that I didn't keep afterwards, though, so I don't see why my own horse vanished).

Now on my third horse and I hope it doesn't just suddenly get dragon-swiped or something, because I really enjoy riding around with my khajit companion trying to keep up while I enjoy the scenery.

But I agree it's kind of a bummer you can't at least shoot arrows from horseback. My companion can whack low-level beasts easily, but I have to get off for tougher encounters. Breaks the flow.

You should at the very least be able to name it and feed it with carrots.

its been like that from launch for me, on keyboard at least.
