Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I hardly read any of the books that you can find, unless it's for a skill boost. And then you don't have to actually read the thing to do it.

I find the game world interesting, the lore less so. But it's nice to know it's there, kind of in the background, that the world has some sort of history. It goes some way to making me believe that the world hasn't just popped into existence when I start my own adventure.

You get the boost just by opening it. Is there any way to

know which books give skill boosts before opening?

The value of the book is usually a lot higher than normal. Most non skill books are around the 5-8 gold value, skill books are in the 50+ gold range.

Despite this comedy effort, its the only version of the game ive seen advertised on the TV currently.

Do Sony just not bother with Advertising any more? all I see is Xbox 360 all the time.

Microsoft and Bethesda are best buds, that's why Bethesda always makes the DLC timed exclusive to 360/pc. Bethesda games are among those which get Microsoft sponsored ads

Sony have been advertising Quite a lot on tv over the last few months.

Hey everyone, I found this forum the other day and it is really wrecking my producivity as I read about everyone's Skyrim experiences which makes me want to go home and play more!

Anyway, I have a question:

I have just finished clearing the witches out of the dungeon (I can't remember the name, glenmora or something similar?). Now, I have 5 witch heads, each weighing 4. When I returned to Whiterun, the guy who sent me to get them is dead. I can't drop the heads anywhere, it says that I can't drop a quest item, but the quest is marked complete. Do I need to wait until some point later to get rid of these heads, or am I bugged? I think I could reload a save to before the witches, I would probably lose an hour or two, but that isn't the end of the world. Help?

Nice, glad I figured out the spoiler tags on the first go!

Welcome..

You use the items listed in your spoiler in the next quest.

Does anyone know where I can get a set of Thalmor robes? I sold the ones from the Mage's College storyline, and I really want my future husband Marcurio to wear them, cos they're sexy.

Also: I bought the house in Riften so I could become Thane (Thanes are cool), and also thought I might as well have another house to move into for when I get hitched, because in my old Whiterun house Lydia spends all her time sitting staring longingly at the marital bed. But when I went to my new house in Riften, I discovered I have another new, but no less creepy lady Housecarl staring at my bed in THAT house. Jeez, there's no escape from them. And this one wants to marry me.

Those of you that have completed the Forbidden Legends quest, would you agree that

Gauldur's Amulet is a complete waste of time. His sons caused such destruction with it the High King was called in? What, the region couldn't handle them being able to maintain a novice level fire spell for six seconds more than usual?

The quest was really nicely laid out, but having fought all three sons in their arenas, then fighting their goddamn ghosts again, I was expecting at least 100% faster magic regeneration or something.

Can you tell me how to progress that? I've only done the first bit and it's asking to investigate who the chap could be (Seems to be in the college, but can't work out how?)

Well after a bit of a blitz last night I got most of my magics up to 50+, so got the "Bound Bow" spell...and now I love being an Archer

I still don't really get how blocking works. I one hand sword and then magic in the other one - I seem to block sometimes but I don't really know how I'm doing it.

Also, fuck bears.

You can't block if you're dual wielding. You can if you're using a two handed weapon, or a one handed weapon and a shield.

Perhaps one for the PC Oblivion veterans - is there a way to forcibly initiate a quest or trigger a character's later dialogue options via the console? I can't seem to get the "Blood's Honor" Companions quest from Kodlak. I think you're supposed to get it after doing two Radiant quests for Aela the Huntress after "The Silver Hand", but I've done two and the only dialogue option she has left is the one for Archery training. I had a Miscellaneous quest active for the area where the next quest takes you (a generic treasure-hunting thing, "find the Iron Axe of Scorching") which seemed like it could be the problem, but things are no different with the Companions after finishing it, and the area (Glenmoril Coven) now shows up as 'Cleared' on the map.

Try talking to the leader of the group outside the Thalmor Embassy in the hills near Solitude, you DEVIANT

Can you give me a rough idea of where in relation to Solitude the embassy is?

Some guy in a mine taking up the mining spot. Good move genius. No one down here but me, you, and Lydia. She never rats me out.

Double handed smash with sneak damage of burning sword BASTARD and the ore vein is mine.

Mine! Lol.

Between moving house and getting hideous man flu I havnt had a chance to play this really :(

But back on it this evening (only level 9). And straight back into loving it.

Simple things like released characters betraying you, or running off and doing their own thing really make all the difference.

found my first all spider gave and its bloody horrible, really made my skin crawl lol

I still think choosing the bow is the hardest weapon, but am sticking by it. Though I found a staff of paralysis that allows me to beat tougher opponents than I could with the bow :(

Wildlife is still fucking me up though, those damn cats!

I went to clear out a fort near Whiterun earlier, and along the way got ambushed. A couple of Incinerates with full flame perks have only reduced the health of these bandits by about a sixth, leaving me to frenzy them from afar before pulling out the bow. I think I need to reduce the difficulty of the game after levelling incorrectly :(
