Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Forgot to email my saves home from lunchtime gaming at work so I can't play this evening, or at least not without losing an hour's progress. Why doesn't it support bloody Steam cloud sync? :(

I suppose the sheer amount and size of saves could be the reason? Anyway, you could always use dropbox instead of emailing your save.

At level 100 I've got a couple of problems with pickpocketing:

Sometimes people's weapons and clothes don't show up, and with a limit at 90% it means I've usually got just as good a chance to strip and steal all of someone's clothes as to pinch their lunch.

The other thing is I was running from all wildlife, as I was high levelled, but only as a pickpocket. I'm super high levelled now though (30) through paying for training and then stealing all my money back. It's so expensive now I have to wait until the trainer's asleep and sneak into their room to steal my money back.

I just upgraded my elite to a slim. I now understand how anyone could be playing it off the disk only. Blimey it's quiet! AND skyrim has to be a magic game, it's installed size is 3.8gb for god sake.... How? How is that possible??

Shit textures? ;)

Good god! Being a stealthy thief is ridiculous fun

I know there are far more efficient ways of clearing dungeons but manoeuvring to get into place for a sneak shot, then watching as the bandits run around looking for you only to be hit again once they think they are safe is so satisfying.

Can shouts be powered up? The first one seemed to not really power up by holding down RB? The second one I got really has saved me in some tight spots mind...

Here's how amazing and vast this game is. I just finished the main quest-line, and have pumped just shy of 64 hours into this; yet I'm still to visit Falkreath, Dawnstar, or Morthal. This game is huge.

Any general impressions, was it good?

Were there choices like in F3, because I haven't met any yet (not in main quest or in side quest either).

There is one choice I've encountered - joining the legion or the stormcloaks. I've just joined the legion. For the Empire! (The British Empire)

All shouts have three words that you must collect and then unlock to be able to use the most powerful version.

You can get the words for Unrelenting Force by doing a bit more of the main quest, and you don't have to use dragon souls to unlock them.

Ohhhh thanks :)

Might do some more main quest tonight...

I really like how you can get quests from books - I've picked up a couple so far. Lovely touch that.

I actually wish Zelda wasn't coming out tomorrow. I wish it came out a couple of days before Christmas. I'm loving this game. Embarrassingly. I've re-arranged our home televisions to make sure I can maximise my play time. It's wonderful.

Truly the best couple of weeks that gaming has ever seen.

A little story from me. I am currently married to a woman who works inside the mine at Shor's Stone. We live in her house, she's a hard worker and earns the coin while I go off on my travels. I try to stop in once a week to get my coin and a home cooked meal. I once was gone for a while and when I returned, she gave me over 2000 in gold.

I am currently into smithing and went to Riverwood to continue this when a dragon set upon us. The battle was tough and sadly the town of Riverwood lost Faendal, the archer of the small village. I decided to pay my respects by throwing him into the river and watching his body float downstream. I remember doing a quest for him early on in my adventures but if I remember I didn't side with him so he resented me.. He will be missed for his valuable teachings in Archery.

Does anyone know for sure if the Thieves Guild missions

you optionally get from the two people in the bar ever go anywhere? Are they just for extra money or are they for some higher purpose? Do they ever end?

I've not done many of them yet, but, without spoiling anything, they do 'end', and they do go somewhere.

I played so much Skyrim today that I have aching muscles... I didn't get out of my chair or even shift my arse cheeks around for about 6 hours. I feel ill. Random thoughts from today's session:

I know what people mean about dungeon bosses being scaled oddly. I sailed through one big dungeon killing everything in one or two hits, but then the mage bitch at the end totally destroyed me. I put the game down to "Novice" difficulty and she still killed me three more times. It's not very balanced.

I went to Windhelm and unfortunately the Xbox 360 textures looked worse than ever there. This technical issue is really really spoiling the game  The stone walls and the ground are grey pixellated blobs. Get it fixed Bethesda, fuck sake.

Skill tree conundrum: It feels like whenever I try to use any blacksmith equipment there's nothing to do... I never have the right stuff, and I can't improve my weapons/armour because they're all magical and that needs a perk. But that perk is at Blacksmith level 50... which I'll never reach because I can't do any blacksmithing! Hmm.

Kind of the same for enchanting: I can't enchant anything worth a damn until I have some enchanting perks, but I'll not be able to get enchanting perks until I've done lots of enchanting.

Not sure what direction to choose tomorrow. I could go northwest to check out Solitude and try to join the Imperials. Or I could go northeast and try to reach Winterhold. There's about 5 quests do do in either direction...

I played so much today I'm probably going to dream of it tonight.

This game rewards the inquisitive far to much, It's like they took the idea of Deus Ex's if you look in an out of the way corner you get rewarded.

Minor spoiler about being out and about on the paths of Skyrim.

I came across a courier happily strolling along to whiterun, "no messages for you" he says. "Maybe, but I wonder what messages you do carry" thinks I. Low and behold I found a note, talking about skulduggery of into yonder. Another bloody mark on my map to investigate.

This game is amazing, It's like they took the best bits of Morrowind and combined it with the good ideas they couldn't fully implement in Daggerfall.

You could try making stuff that you don't want to use but are easy to make.
