Yeah. For example when I uninstalled my copy I could suddenly read shop and road signs. Before they were just a blur.

Same happened to me, the textures could be pretty bad with it installed. I couldn't read the road signs but wasn't sure if it was meant to be like that or not. Uninstalled it and the game looks much better. Except the snowy wall textures which are still awful.

I was a

werewolf.

When I did that quest.

Yeah, same here. It's just...

it moves straight into the quest where you have a follower you can't dismiss, so if I went back to a previous save, I would be non-werewolf.

But that's by-the-by, because I beat him in the end! Wooo! I sneakily killed all the guys in the altar with my bow, and then led him back up to the entrance where the pull chain for the gate was. Closed the gate, and whilst he fought the Companion on the other side, I spammed him with arrows through the gaps in the gate. Then I stripped him naked, dragged his corpse back to the altar and dumped his arse on one of the fires in there. :)

Ill met by moonlight; really great quest that one. It was a hard decision to make...

But undecided to kill Sidil. He went down rather easily; Lydia can be nails and a good destruction as I'm throwing fire bolts.

The reward for the quest was excellent and the chest in the area also bore some tasty fruit.

Did anyone spare Sidil? If so what was the result...he says d will a powerful ally - I just wasn't messing with an evil god! And loot wins for me

Is, "I took an arrow in the knee," a euphemism or something? Surely all the guards can't have been injured in precisely the same way.

It's basically a lo-cal version of Logan's Run. At the age of thirty, adventurers are kidnapped, blindfolded and shot in the kneecap.

Then forced to become guards, presumably.

Then forced to become over OCD guards who will threaten you with death if you litter near them, or will give you a good bollocking for shouting loudly in a pub.., presumably.

Fixed that for you :D

There's no question this is game of the year.

In fact, bugs and all, I think this is my new favourite game. And I don't say that lightly.

Move over Freeman.

Getting there for me, too. I just need to start working out the whole enchanting thing and getting higher level destruction skills so that I can become a major badass.

This game is teh sex. I've completed every previous Elder Scrolls games, and they've gradually gotten better. One can only wonder what next gen Elder Scrolls will bring us. But everything in due time, Skyrim will last me ages :)

Well I thought I would expand on my previous post: I FUCKING LOVE SKYRIM.

My Character is an Orc Warrior called "Foehammer". He's a no nonsense sort of guy who wields a sword and shield, sneaks around (albeit in heavy armour) and has largely ignored bows and spells.

I've only got as far as talking to the Greybeards in the main quest but have spent hours and hours in various locations around Whiterun. I got my enchanting up to about 40 and I have just started smithing. The idea is to make and ancient some badass dragon armour and a sword or two with which I can smite my foes.

I'm about level 20 and my perks have gone into sword and shield, speechcraft and smithing and soon I will get some perks in enchanting.

The vistas are terrific. The first time I decapitated a bandit was awesome. I have a house and a horse. One evening while out riding I saw a glowing light and followed it. It was a ghost horseman. A headless ghost horseman. I followed it for ages but didn't seem to find where it was going.

Also last night I took down my 3rd dragon. It was a randomer to be sure.

However it did pick up a slight issue with the Radiant AI/random encounter system...the Dragon is over head attacking and then lands. I start to charge up a spell and a guy comes up to me and engages in conversation, along the lines of "Hey you, you ain't seen me, right?". He says this reasonably calmly; he's obviously being chased. AT the same time there's a FUCKING DRAGON BEHIND HIM roaring and spitting fire.

I click through the conversation quickly and he seems to go hide or walk off. I charge the dragon and give it a couple of whacks - for some reason I must have targetted this chap as he comes back into view (wandering around near the dragon without fear) and Lydia steps forward and twats him - he crumples in one hit.

We best the Dragon and then another chap comes along "Have you seen some guy running this way" - and I say "Yeah he's dead".

All a bit silly.

On another occasion I saw a guy just waiting around on the road on his horse. I talked to him and he said "If you do anything I will set my guards on you!" - his tag came up as "Noble". I'd not seen any guards anywhere...hmmm. I looked around a bit - yep an empty road. So for his snottyness I lit him up like a tyre factory. He went down after getting off his horse and then "1000 bounty added". Huh, there aren't any witnesses...except for the horse! I barraged it will spells and it started to run off, shit. I chased it down and it had cornered itself and was easy to finish. As the body hit the floor the message "Last witness eliminated" appeared and "bounty removed". Must have been Mr Ed.

So a couple of funny wee bugs yet they are charming and add to the flavour of the game too.

I fucking love this game.. I would go as far to say it's one of the best games I have played and there have been a fair few!!

I could stand and look at those clouds floating around the mountains for hours!! Dragons are so bloody amazing!! Going into a Dungeon and following a river that opens up into a vast cavern with waterfalls! Sneaking up on a unsuspecting target and slitting their throat! Listening to the wonderful ambient sound!

Amazing game!

Yup. I concur :)

I picked up the Skyrim guide today - whenever I pick up these things it's usually more to see the artwork and figure out what funky weapons I would like to find, but what was slightly disappointing and amazing at the same time was that there's none of that. It's just all missions, missions, missions! I can't quite fathom just how much content this game has got in it! Absolutely incredible.

And now I must plunge back into it - me and my Companions are going to hit things. And possibly howl a bit.

You know a game has "got" you when instead of just fast travelling from location to location you actually spend hours travelling there on foot instead. Basically every journey you make (no matter how small) becomes an actual adventure.. the sense of discovery just can't be beat!

I really do feel for those who simply race through the main quest and comment "is that it!". As others have said this is a true gamers game where you can literally create your own adventures!

I loved Morrowind & Oblivion but this is just in a different league. GOTY status confirmed.

Absolutely this. I just had a moment here I was walking with Lydia collecting clam shells (as you do) and while I'm not paying attention shes busy watching my back shouting 'you want some of this huh? With her bow twatting some ice wolves  hope there's an opportunity to marry her.

Can I store items in random chests around Skyrim or will they disappear over time? I can't figure out how to get a house yet (and probably don't have enough cash) but want to keep some of the valuable & different weapons I've found, without carrying them everywhere.

You can get a house in

Whiterun quite early on in the main quest, but it does cost 5000

Well worth it though! I now have a luxury condo...albeit with live in lodger who refuses to put out :(

Anyone who uses fast travel is doing it wrong. I had to do it once after I couldn't remember where I left my horse but that was from right outside the place I was going to.

Nah, I fast travelled a lot in Fallout and I'm fast travelling a reasonable amount in this. When I've just finished a 2 hour long dungeon halfway across the map from my house and I'm a few points below my carry limit, I just want to go straight back to my house in Whiterun. The game would probably last literally months if you travelled everywhere on foot/horse.

Plus, sometimes I don't want any more distractions. For me, the weakness of this 'constant stream of quests and locations' approach is that you often lose the context of why you're doing anything and it all becomes a haze of dungeons, loot and random people who you met 15 hours ago. If a quest sounds interesting I sometimes fast travel to or near the location while everything is still fresh in my mind.

Up to level 14.

Wow.

I'm now a Werewolf and inthe middle of mashing Silver Hand muppets. Ace :) Asbolutely love it.

I've just this very minute...

turned into a werewolf and kicked a dragon's ass. What other game has "Dragon versus Werewolf" in it? :D What makes it is that after the fight, I transform back to human and stroll away in nothing but my underpants.
