Had a quick check but couldn't see it mentioned.. It does appear under active effects but doesnt state a damage figure.. Hmmm

Yeah, I've just had a look myself, now that I'm home.

One way to find out is equip your bound sword and conjure it. Then go in to the weapons tab and highlight any other weapon. Add the negative number to it's base damage and that's what the damage of your bound sword is :)

My actor draw distance had been really low before I changed it, and things were constantly surprisng me. The minute I turned it up I saw a far off battle between guards and bandits, then another betwen conjurers and bandits. On the one hand it's brilliant, but, on the other, am I missing out on getting involved in these incidents? Naaaah, surely they'd be happening anyway, it's just that I couldn't see them previously, yeah?

That's when you go lend a hand/slaughter them all from miles off

fuck me, the fucking followers are fucking useless when you're trying to get somewhere. They're not much use when in combat (thanks for standing at the end of the corridor away from the fight, Lydia. Massive help). The only thing so far that's a massive chore.

She's absolutely invaluable to me, she tanks for me while I cast and keeps the enemies busy while I'm recharging. You know you're meant to manage their equipment, potions etc? Give her an enchanted two hander, a load of enchanted gear and a load of potions and watch her kick some arse. You can give her a staff if you like too, that's often what I do. You can issue commands if you want her to attack something or move ahead, rather than following your lead. Whenever you're going somewhere, just run on ahead and forget about her, then wait for the minimum time when you arrive and she'll appear directly behind you.

You can also direct your companion to attack your opponent during brawls if you like

While walking to Whiterun, I saw something floating in the air over a field. I investigate & find a (empty) dead giant lying in the middle of a farm with a hammer floating 20 feet in the air above him & still slowly rising. There was no-one else in sight, so I decided to move on as this was either a bug or something I had no idea about or how to deal with.

As far as I can tell blocking relies on an attack actually making contact with your shield. It seems like your character will raise his or her shield slightly just as an enemy attacks if you have it in the right spot, but I can't confirm that for sure. The potential to be hurt even when blocking is most noticeable with arrows, as you can still be hurt by arrows even with the no arrow damage perk if the arrow hits somewhere the shield isn't covering (or that's what it seems like?).

Certain attacks can break through your shield (power attacks etc.) though there are perks that will slow down time when one is coming so you can shield bash etc. to avoid it. I'm not entirely sure how it works but I'm enjoying using one anyway, as it's nice to be able to stagger people at will using the super shield bash perk.

I've found to take no damage you have to raise your shield at the right time, like a parry. Then you hit them. There is also the shove move, which is good for breaking their guard and allowing you to mace then in the face.

Do you need a found but unlocked shout available to fill...?

Nah! You can save as many Dragon Souls as you like. Use em as and when.

I think it's bugged - the Dragon's rag-doll corpse has just followed me across the map someways. It's still scaley and hasn't burnt up, even though i've salvaged the bones etc.

I've been mincing people with the dual handed flames spell. A few perks to halve your destruction magicka usage on novice spells + the dual wield extra power + the 25% extra damage with fire = fun times.

Frying tonight!!

The perks are excellent in this I find.

It's amazing the level of chance in this game, just reading people's accounts of the different quests they're getting. For instance, my Companion story has come to a standstill for a while I think because the quest I have is to retrieve an heirloom that's locked in a chest requiring Expert level to open it. Also I was just in Whiterun town walking down the street when I accidently used a Shout. It didn't hurt anyone (although someone nearby did say, "Goodness, what was that?"). Anyway I went and sold some stock in a shop and when I came out a courier ran up to me giving me a letter saying that someone had seen me use a Shout in Whiterun and could I go to a certain location. Basically a quest I got purely by accident.

This game is just soooo good.

I just got 'given' Lydia, one hour later she was dead.

Got ambushed by 3 mages in a fort west of Whiterun and it was game over for her. I finished them off with more than half health left. Bloody weakling! Tempted to pause and reload but I want this first playthrough to be a true and honourable one. Also is everyone else not using fast travel? Moving on foot/horse gives a fantastic sense of scale (and how it should be played) in my opinion. The hike from Whiterun to Winterhold was an hours entertainment that I would have otherwise lost. :)

Did you, by any chance kill her accidentally during that brawl? Cos I did, but then it crashed. Reloaded autosave and since then she's survived every single fight. Even when she should die, she goes into 'surrender' mode and all bad guys (even giant ice spiders) grant her mercy and leave her alive.

Its a trait I wish she had, the merciless bitch brutally executes everyone, even when they beg not to be killed.

Am I missing something with quick select? All I want is left to be bow and right to be shield/one-handed but it just seems to do totally different things when I try either. Sometimes when switching from bow to one-handed it'll switch and sheathe at the same time so I have to get it out again. Or a switch and it switches to unarmed, or I switch back and God knows what. Is it buggy?

At Level 16, every location seems suddenly to be filled with people who kill me almost instantly and I can do very little damage to. Is there anywhere I can get some decent weapons and armour? I'm mixing things up between one-handed swords, destruction and bows, but they're all becoming rapidly less effective.

Or else a cave will be filled with people I can kill with one hit, then at the end there's someone who one-hits me.

I was just doing a quest that involved helping a guy out with something in his family tomb. I follow him down there and, naturally, as soon as I come across the first burial urn I lift the lid and have a rummage for any gold or jewels that might be in there. Grab a garnet or two, turn around, and the poor bloke's stood there watching me, grief-stricken: "Oi! Those belong to my family!"

Ok, serious problem in potential. I've just found 2 dead named NPCs, Belethor and the son of Battle-born. No idea why they're dead at all, they're just spark out in Whiterun. No rhyme, no reason and no I didn't kill them. Robbed them blind, obviously, but is this going to fuck my game? I've just

become a werewolf

Wow. Just... wow. I can't believe how much stuff I have to do. Loads of the big cities I haven't even visited yet.

I'm level 18, but have been getting by with virtually no magical items. A necklace that improves my one-handed by 15%, and that's it. A scimitar in each hand which I nicked off some kind of pirate assassin have served me well for about eight levels now. Occasionally, I've been using a bound sword. But I'm thinking I should start learning about enchantments. I've only come across one enchantment table in about 30 odd hours though. Do they have lots of that stuff at the mage's college or whatever it is? I've not been there yet.

Ah yes, is that the one where a Necromancer is abusing his families bodies?

watch out once you get to the end of the cave. Save often!

I lost Lydia to the A'kvir (or however it's spelled) lot, I admittedly totally failed to give her any spells or anything to sort damage though. I kinda miss her now so need a new little chum.

Drinking game in Riften is brilliant though, totally threw me for a loop, great stuff.

I also, much later on, had an epic fight with some of the foreswarn (although I didn't really want to) and only managed to survive by eating my way through all my potions that I had related to health. When I was down to the last person and low health again, I had to eat something like 20 apples, 8 carrots, 5 potatos, some dog meat, rabbit haunch and some other rogue foodstuffs just to survive.

Bloody EPIC.

Had a really frustration moment with my shield brothers earlier. In dungeons I play like ninja, sneaking around popping people with arrows to get the damage bonus, but my tard like sibling likes to shout and run straight in, blowing my cover. It created a situation where I was against 4-5 ghosts, of which 3 had great swords, all choked up in a small corridor. I was getting really frustrated, until she took too much damage and yeilded, which glitched a bit blocked all of them from getting at me, giving me enough time to bow them in the face \o/

Anyway, fuck companions. I go this alone.

Wow. Monumental trek to free a Grey Mane from the clutches of...erm...someone (elves I think). It's so sodding easy to get side-tracked though - castles and cities in the distance all the way through. However, this time I held firm, went in and by god an awful lot of twatting was dished out.

Quite a sweet end to the quest too :) . Awwww.
