Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I find the health regeneration makes things pointlessly easy. There's no need to use most of the potions or food that I find, so I either end up ignoring it or selling what I do find. However, I just discovered this great console command for PC users.

player.modav healrate -0.7

That permanently removes the default 0.7 regen rate from the player. Food and potions are now actually useful.

Is there similar for PS360? I've been finding it all a bit easy so put the difficulty up to Master. Had one battle so far that required some thought, otherwise just been frying and burning through bandits and skeletons like paper. Even easier with the duel wielding.

I remember first playing Oblivion and Fallout and being terrified of slaughter pretty often, so having to mix stealth and targeting my foes. I'm sure I'll come across significant challenge in the next 200 hours, but still...

Edit: Ok, Masters much harder!

Decided to start a new save earlier to have a go at some different skills from scratch/try a different playstyle. 6 hours later and my Nord Barbarian is level 8, focused on Two-Handed weapons and has spent a significant amount of time smithing himself a set of dwarven armour. It's ludicrous how easy it is to lose yourself in this

So, I started this on Friday whilst feeling a little under the weather. Half an hour later I turned it off... it felt okay, but it felt like Oblivion did to me: good, but something I'd probably not finish.

It's now 2.55am on Monday. I have to be up for work in four hours, but I just had to get one last quest done. My average Wood Elf has become lethal with a bow, can sneak around unseen to all but the keenest of eyes, and it remarkably good at picking locks. She's fought dragons, gone toe-to-toe with giants... and had two utterly hilarious quests that involved talking animals and giant piss-ups.

I've hardly touched the main quest. I've been running around discovering things, doing small side quests and getting more and more handy at taking people out with arrows. Utterly amazing game

Just spent ages trying to free up space by crawling around and selling stuff. As I've finished I've just realised I had Lydia in tow

This is brilliant. It's nothing like Oblivion for me, and I like the base story. In Oblivion it just seemed a bit dull "Ohh bad guys from hell ohhhh!".

Massively aces, I was still shocked at te Farkas thing. I want me some of that action!

Have to go to work in a bit, but it seems that I got up and did my thing so quickly today that I have half an hour to kill before I have to leave! Weird, usually I'm incredibly slow and sleepy on Monday morning - but I it does mean I can can have a quick 30 minute walk around in Skyrim.

Are there any unlock spells in this time around?

I have no problem with the lock picking, I quite enjoy it actually, it's just that my Breton Mage is an arrogant bastard that thinks it's beneath him to do anything manual with his hands. As a player I want the phat loot though so if there's no other option I'll make an exception for lock picking.

The levelling is so much better this time around isn't it and it's fantastic wandering around with the knowledge there could be a big nasty just up ahead.

i thought i was close to reaching the grey beards but I ran into three witches who put up a good fight and killed me a few times. I eventually killed all of them after a few reloads then saw a strange symbol on the ground where my battle had just taken place and thought how exciting gimme my loot!! then went to investigate it and stood on it then BOOM  It was one of those ice spells that act like mines which the witches had left behind as a final fuck you which took off my last remaining bit of health I was just waiting for the killed from the grave message I used to get from playing Halo online to flash up.

I then battled my way past the witches again then utop a hill which could only be accessed by a fallen tree acting as a bridge, a very powerful Mage was firing firebolts with huge splash damage. After a few attempts with Lydia who got killed and trying to fire arrows I just knew that I was no match for him and thought to myself I come back for you later you fucker. So tail between my legs I headed back to safeness of Whiterun to collect my bounty for defeating some bandits earlier.

Just spent ages making my way up a mountain. Very epic. Guy on a bridge at the village at the bottom of the mountain says, "Yeah, bit snowy up there, might see a few wolves mate. Nowt to worry about."

Oh really? Did the ice trolls and ice wraiths slip your mind? No wonder he didn't want to go up!

LOL that's a nice little touch in there to lull you into a false sense of security. Had to retreat from this and come back another day - which is not something I ever said about Oblivion.

Completely different session last night - little travelling (other than the trip to Ivarstad which paid off even without being able to scale the mountain), lots of talking to people in Riften and getting a sense of the local politics. It's quite impressive how much backstory some of the minor NPCs have.

Still have absolutely no clue as to which side I will favour in the civil war.

High up people who have had their stuff nicked are starting to get pissed off with me and sending groups of thugs to get revenge.

Latest Khajiit insult "Is that FUR coming out of your ears?"

The figures on the splash screens can be rotated.

An old male Khajiit makes a re-appearance

M'aiq the liar

.

Finding enchantment really easy and useful, as well as crafting, archery, sneak, pickpocket, and alchemy so saving those skill points up until a really useful perk opens up. Lockpicking doesn't need to be improved if you invest in sufficient lock picks.

I thought woodchopping was just for show until I discovered I was lugging a ton of chopped wood in my inventory.

I think I might talk to the Jarl tonight since I want a house.

I've still only just started playing really, though I hope to put a big chunk of time into it tonight.

Awesome feeling: Looking at a mountain and thinking, "Woah, I get to climb that!" Then getting half way up that mountain, looking across the valley where I'd walked from, and noticing a much bigger mountain that had always been behind me.

Funny feeling: Seeing giants for the first time. Being unspoiled by videos or previews or chat about them. Walking up to one to see if it's friendly. Insta-killed and twatted thousands of feet in the air. Nope, not friendly!

Quick question, does everyone else get the weird brightness problem where everything goes really dark for a few seconds after you switch from looking at a bright area to a dark one.

I'm finding it really disorientating & wondered if it was down to the character I chose ( big cat ) or if it was just the same for everybody?

Thinks thats a deliberate effect to make the lighting more realistic

I joined the companions and the the first job was to but the fear of god into someone.

Problem is where I had to go I was trying out my fire spell on a chicken a few days before. The folk in town took offence to this so attacked me.

In the fight I have already killed this guy that I now need alive to finish this quest.

So now going to to join the local magic circle club instead.

Never have liked these sort of games but this one has got me hooked.

Is there no quick-save in this? I'm sure holding Start quick-saved in Oblivion?

F5.

Oh poor Lydia. She didn't make it ten steps out of Whiterun. :( We were ambush by some hired goons, she got caught in my flames and burnt to a crisp.

I work better alone.

Everyone keeps menioning this Lydia. How come I haven't got a Lydia?

Christ, Giants are right bastards when you're a lowly levelled-up bloke aren't they? Admittedly I did have two of them on the go at the same time, but I think 'splay' is a good word for what happened.

I took out my pent up frustration on a Necromancer a little way up the road though. Poor cow.
