Lego Pirates of the Caribbean

I'm a big fan of all the Lego games, and care not how repetitive and similar they are. They're ACE.

So this news is EXCELLENT.

The next mega-licence to be given the LEGO treatment will be Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney has announced.

It'll be released on DS, PC, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360 to coincide with the new POTC film - On Stranger Tides - in May 2011.

LEGO Pirates will straddle the story of all three existing Pirates films - Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest and Johnny Depp Goes Sailing Part 3 - as well as the new movie.

There's two-player co-op as well as Freeplay mode, which lets you travel back to already completed levels.

Talking of levels - there'll be over 20. And you can take on the role of more than 70 different characters.

TT Games - maker of LEGO Star Wars, Potter, Indiana Jones, Batman, etc. - will develop.

Back to the Future next, please.

Lego Indy was pretty good. It elicited great nostalgia, largely because it recreated all the well-known scenes from the films with a novel twist. But I fear that POTC is not as embedded in the public consciousness to be as easily recognisable for the general public. Would you really recognise bits from the film remade in Lego?

Lego Ghostbusters, Lego Back to the Future or Lego Toy Story please. None of this POTC rubbish.

Dead Man's Chest is the 4th highest grossing film of all time (unadjusted), At World's End is 9th and Curse Of The Black Pearl is in the top 40. Jack Sparrow is ridiculously ecognisable, it all makes sense.

I'd love Lego Ghostbusters and Toy Story and all that good stuff, and now that we have a Disney/LEGO license we might see them.

Does it matter? I haven't seen the latest three Star Wars films, the latest Indiana Jones film, and only part of the first or second Harry Potter film (don't remember which - it was shit and I fell asleep :P) but that didn't spoil my enjoyment.

Just think of it as Lego Pirates!

Putting FACT after a statement doesn't make it so. They weren't as good as Star Wars for me, I didn't bother with Harry Potter because of this.

It's worth pointing out Harry Potter is £19.99 on Game's website.

Still not cheap enough. I have a £15 threshold for Lego games. Good as they are, I *know* they'll be cheaper.

Seconding Lego Toy Story.

I'd be very surprised if this *didn't* happen, actually.

Why not documentaries too?!

Lego Planet Earth

< Voiceover by DA

< Lego Whales and stuff for sale

*Kids can learn AND have fun! Endangered species Legos are more expensive and rarer. That'll learn em.*
