Is there a cheap(er) way to get Bioware points? I fancy doing a run through of the trilogy on PC, but you can only get the DLC with those silly points, which are pretty damned expensive :/

You can get Origin top up cards cheaper through CD Keys here http://www.cdkeys.com/top-up-cards/origin (click to like their Facebook page for a further 5% off bringing a £25 card to £20.90 for a total 17% saving) & then it's a matter of buying the Bioware points as you need them.

There also seems to be a price mismatch on the Origin store for the cost of Bioware points; £6 for 800 or £13 for 1600 making it seemingly cost prohibitive to buy the larger volume of points.

However, I found that if you redeem the top-up card on the Origin store, then add all the DLC you want to your cart & checkout, it'll then give you the option to purchase 1600 BW points bundled at £12 rather than the advertised price of £13. It's another reason why the Origin Store is a bit of a balls up.

EDIT - Total for the essential ME2 DLC; Genesis, Kasumi, Overlord, Arrival & Shadow Broker is 2800 BW Points.

Total for the essential ME3 DLC; Genesis 2, From Ashes, Leviathan, Omega & Citadel is 4320 BW Points.

So you'd need a total of 7120 points which normally would be 4 x 1600BWP & 1 x 800BWP, so about £54 of Origin vouchers equating to 2 x £25 and 1 x £10 for a total of £50.80 apx.

EDIT2 -You'd only need the Genesis pack if you're starting ME2 from scratch without carrying over characters from ME1 respectively. Sames goes for Genesis 2 if you're starting ME3 without carrying over ME2 characters. So you could knock off 640 BW points if you're starting from ME1 & working all 3 games.

I've recently started playing the first one on the PS3, and there's supposed to be some DLC on it but I haven't actually figured out how to activate it. Nothing comes up in the main menu to allow me to activate or even download anything. I even went on the PS store and couldn't get any results for DLC content for any of the games what so ever. Is this just the incredibly shit navigation the PS store adopts? I really get angry these days when trying to use it, although that isn't often at all.

I've recently played through the first one too (missed out the first time due to it not being released on PS3, it's fucking great though) and there is no additional DLC strictly speaking.

'Bring Down The Sky' is included as part of the main game (i.e. no activation etc needed) but I don't think 'Pinnacle Station' ever made it to PS3.

(I agree the PS store is a bit shit, but if you search for Mass Effect you get a whole load of DLC for 2 & 3.)

If I wanted to jump straight into ME2, how do you activate the comic at the beginning that allows you to catch up with the ME1 plot/decisions?

You play ME1 and unlock all the emotional attachment. Seriously, just fucking play it. You'll regret not doing so.

The "DLC" is the mission where you have to stop an astroid from hitting a planet by disengaging various engines that some terrorists have attached to it. Like someone above has said, I think it's just a part of the main game (I assume it was DLC for the original xbox release or something?). It's a great mission though, one of the best parts of the game.

EA came out a few months back and said they'd rather focus on new stuff than pretty up their back catalogue, so no, it's not happening any time soon under the current management.

That's fair enough. Think I'll grab the DLC then, in anticipation of BC goodness.

How long is it on sale for? Bioware are having an "N7 day" on Saturday with live streaming and although they did say that ME4 wouldn't feature, they do have some "special surprises". I could see EA discounting the ME3 DLC just before they announce a next gen collection. Or it's possible that this sale is just part of that "celebration". I'm not getting my hopes up for a next gen collection... but at the same time I sorta am :D

And while we won’t have any major announcements for Mass Effect: Andromeda this N7 Day, keep an eye out on Saturday for some surprises that we’re sure you’ll enjoy

If they announced a remaster I would probably die of happiness before I even got to play.

Unfortunately EA don't believe in doing them so unless they want to look like idiots, they won't be re-releasing their old gen games anytime soon.

When publishers release old games on new platforms, EA COO Peter Moore told IGN, “It feels like pushing stuff out because you’ve run out of ideas.”

Moore explained why EA isn’t into this approach to releasing games. “Remakes, because of who we are, and this broad portfolio of intellectual property...you add all that together, I don’t know where we find the time to do remakes,” Moore said. “We’re a company that just likes to push forward.”

Of course, Moore admitted, remakes are extremely convenient. “For a lot of companies, remakes are a way to drive revenue. It’s sub-cost, it’s an IP that’s there, you can remaster, and that’s great. We don’t do that here. I don’t think that’s ever been in our culture.”

I'd have thought most posters on here would agree with him, all things considered.

All things considered I strongly disagree. I'd love to have all three games available on one platform with all the DLC. That is possible on the PC but for some reason Bioware never bothered to add controller support and I'd like to play them on my TV.
