Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright

The Bag

Recommended Posts

Personally, I think all three Phoenix Wright games need playing, and in order. While every case is self contained, there are recurring characters who make it more interesting if you know their backstory. I think the first game is probably the best but the final case of the second game is the highlight of the series. The third game is probably the weakest, but still good fun.

Switch the two bold bits over and you're spot on. The second game's final case was a bit balls really - they tried to be innovative but it really didn't come off. I'd even rate Apollo Justice over JFA.

Yeah, I'd go with that, though I did quite enjoy the fourth case of the second game. The final case of Trials and Tribulations is certainly the series highlight for me, though - ties up a few loose ends from the first two games to provide a satisfying sense of closure to that story arc. Also, THAT moment where the original Cornered theme kicks in.

Apollo was pretty underrated at the time, but that's in third place behind PW:AA. Investigations is firmly in last place for me.

Instead of just saying it looks pish, why didn't you say that in the first place?

The Ace Attourney series can barely be described as a game, it's more interactive fiction. Interactive PREPOSTEROUS fiction that has quirky yet awesome characters and that Capcom magic.

Layton has bags of charm, some quirky yet awesome characters and fiendish puzzles (and some retarded ones).

It's all about the characters. I don't know how the game is going to work, but I'm excited because there's massive potential. Both games are logic based (even though the solutions stray from logic sometimes) have bags of charm and character and are generally very cool.

I can't explain it much better than that. I enjoyed the shit out of Curious Village and the first 3 Phoenix Wright games.

I'm excited, and I don't even have a 3DS yet. :hmm: I've actually been replaying the old Ace Attorney games recently and even though I know the plot backwards I still enjoy revisiting the cases.

PW3 spoiler:

why is Maya still wearing her acolyte garb in the trailer? I thought she'd retired the whole medium gig at the end of the third game? :P
