:omg: I'm so excited that I'm doing FAN ART! :OMG

Quality!

Translation for above video:

Here’s the translated text for the trailer courtesy a friend of mine, of @azurarok on twitter.

Layton: “The culprit behind the witchcraft that put the city in chaos…

You are the very one!”

girl: “You’re wrong. I am not a witch.”

Layton: “Then how did you know the contents of the book you could not have possibly read?”

Phoenix: “OBJECTION!

Professor, there is a glaring contradiction in your testimony.”

Luke: “What’s written in the book becomes reality.”

Maya: “What? That’s impossible!”

girl: “I will probably be killed soon,

it’s been written in the book.”

Phoenix: “We won’t let that happen.”

Layton: “Mr. Wright

I believe we both have made a grave error…”

Layton: “Now Luke, what a guardian of the law says is not necessarily the truth.”

Phoenix: “To be honest, I don’t like that sir Silk Hat much at all…”

more news overload:

- idea of a collaboration between the two franchises came from Level-

- Hino took the idea to Capcom himself

- Hino: "I didn't think they'd give it the okay. I know there are many fans who are waiting for Ace Attorney 5, so is this really okay?"

- Shu Takumi was surprised upon hearing the project idea, but was also excited as it would be his first crossover title

- Hino: "We have Mr. Takumi working closely on the project. Looking at it as an Ace Attorney game, it will look like the real thing. Looking at it as a Professor Layton game, it will look like the real thing. With this collaboration between two titles, we're aiming to make an even bigger title."

- Takumi: "With the cooperation of Level-5, we hope to deliver a game that exceeds everyone's expectations."

- more details coming from the next issue of Famitsu

- next issue will also have an interview with Akihiro Hino and Capcom head of development Keiji Inafune

Stupid fucking Capcom.

Capcom Bod 1: "Should we release a mixture of two of the most popular Western DS franchises outside of Japan?"

Capcom Bod 2: "Nah. Better not run the risk of actually making profit on our games!"

I realise these games take a lot of work to translate, but FFS Capcom.

I think that might be capcom generating hype, like the SF4 patch that might not happen :P

There both established in the west (Layton more so thanks to europe) Im optimistic :)... I was less optimistic for Ghost Trick and that made it :)

I love the Layton Series, but I was put off Pheonix Wright at the point in the 1sr one where after kicking & screaming & digging my heels in in the courtroom I thought I had failed, but then my assistant suddenly revealed a new piece of evidence which blew the case wide open. I had no idea if she would done that without all the sweat & tears I went through in the courtroom, but it felt like a cheap way of resolving the case to me. I then had a similar felling in the next case with every lead just petering out so I put it down & have never gone back.

Still, I really like the look of this game & everyone keeps telling me the Pheonix Wright plots improve after the first, so this is a must buy from me as well. (assuming it comes out in English, of course).

I'm pretty sure there will be an English version anyway, they're just saying there are no plans for one to get everyone even more hyped.

CYNICAL

Of course there will be an English version. You're bang on the money with your observation, the biggest clue is that they're telling people to request it as much as possible and who knows! Maybe it'll happen if you shout really loud! You're all like a wide-eyed audience at a puppet show, and through Punch the puppeteer has instructed you to shout really loud to make Judy come out - because there's a chance she won't come out otherwise! Omg!

with gamers' support it could come to the West

Who wouldn't want something like this released in the west? As others have said, Ace Attorney and Prof. Layton are pretty popular over here...

We need a new printsmoney.gif stat.

I was just about to comment on the "Comments" section of Eurogamer. "Oh, it's obvious there's going to be an English version, they should just shut the fuck up and give it to us, blah blah blah."

If I were Big Bad Boss of Capcom, I'd adamantly refuse to produce an English version to spite these cunts.

Well, I'm glad you're not.

While we can pretty much assume it will come out over here, it's interesting that the Miles Edgeworth game in the Ace Attorney series wasn't translated into other European languages because it wasn't worth their while. They got enough sales from the US to justify the English version, I suppose. You could buy it from the French GAME (their website, at least) but it was in English.

Anyway, that's not really that relevant. This sounds like a really interesting idea, although my concern about this is that I really really don't like the Layton games.

Personally, I think all three Phoenix Wright games need playing, and in order. While every case is self contained, there are recurring characters who make it more interesting if you know their backstory. I think the first game is probably the best but the final case of the second game is the highlight of the series. The third game is probably the weakest, but still good fun.
