I think Rumours is the best pop/rock album.

It's just amazing. Brilliant pop songs, crushingly emotional lyrics. Fantastic guitar playing, great great rhythm section, amazing vocals, and it's production sounds fresh today.

Stevie Nicks singing backing vocals alongside Lindsey Buckingham on Go Your Own Way is fucked up but incredible.

Plus, its got The Chain, one of the first basslines I ever learnt to play.

I went to see them at Earl's Court a few years back and they were amazing. Even the stuff they played off of their then latest album wasn't bad. Lindesy Buckingham's guitar playing was brilliant. I think they hoped Peter Green was going to show up but alas it wasn't to be. Can thoroughly recommend Peter Green Splinter Group if you've not already heard it.

I love Rumours, and that docu that Silent Runner mentioned is unmissable imho. A wonderful look at a wonderful band at the height of wonderful madness.

The best band ever though? Not even close. One great album does not the best band make.

Abba and Steely Dan gaze down upon them from lofty perch 'pon music's Mount Olympus, whilst Fleetwood Mac scrabble in the dirt, and tear at their peasant rags.

ZOK the mighty has spoken. :D

The Beatles, Pink Floyd and many others could legitimately throw their oar into the mix and it would be hard to deny any of them, but Fleetwood Mac, who made a HELLUVA lot more than one great album, deserve their place in the shortlist. They're not my favourite band by any means, all I'm saying is that their sheer talent is hard to beat and I'm not sure anyone has.

Dire Straits are fucking amazing.

The problem with Dire Straits is, whenever I hear them all I can think about is being sent to bed on a Saturday night as a child so my mum and dad could have some time alone . Dire Straits was all I could hear from my room while I am sure my parents were doing it in the lounge. :o

Check out Jethro Tull as well when you get there

I love the Tull, Aqualung and Thick as a Brick are both amazing albums.
