Dark Souls - Prepare To Die... You Died.

Just dropped Manus. That...that was a tough one.

He's a weird boss, he kind of forces you to use shields rather than dodging, up until now the game's usually done the opposite. He's just too fast and berserk to even attempt rolling. Even blocking was always a close one, as his attack chains would usually take well over the amount of endurance I have off, meaning I'd have to drop it between attacks for as long as possible.

Oh, and blocking one of those evil blast black magic attacks with the pendant just before it hits. Like a wave smashing straight into a wall, amazing.

Summoned Sif (who made it all the way to the end, that's pretty much a first for NPC summons for me!), who is totally the best. Sorry about our future meeting, buddy. :(

There are some crazy videos of people dodging his attacks floating around.

Forgot a laugh from Sen's Fortress last night! I'm in the room with the lift and noticed

that it seemed to go up beyond where I've been getting off. There must be treasure up there I thought, or at least souls to score. So the next time I get there I stay on the lift beyond the initial floor.....and then I learnt why there were bloodstains on the lift platform

:facepalm::lol:

Tonight was payback time, motherfuckers.

I strolled through the first section, killed everything and then went back and bought more arrows. Went back, got killed. Went back again and killed everything. Tried my luck and also fought and killed the creature who drops the lightning spear (I'll stick with my longsword +9 for now, ta). Made it across the thin bridge, ran and ran and ran to that bonfire and got there! Sniped the giant putting the stones onto the device. Ran some more. Fought a black knight and totally wiped the fucking floor with him.

Then got killed by some tit with no shield and a rapier. That was one fast cat! Went back, fought the knight, and then faced the rapier guy. He parried me and killed me with one stab. I was annoyed but also pretty impressed. Returned yet again and killed him stone fucking dead. Scored Ricard's rapier. Nice.

Went down some stairs and fought two more knights, scored a ring of sacrifice and a titanite chunk. I then faced The Iron Golem and got destroyed by that fireball throwing idiot before the fight had even started. Got back there again and killed the fireball guy with my bow and arrow and faced the Iron Golem on a much more level playing field. Survived about 12 seconds, then he clipped me, almost killed me, but when I stood up I fell off the edge anyway :D

I do like the view from up the top of Sen's Tower. Overall, a solid evening's progress, and I'm so happy to be back outside.

I noticed last time I went through Sens that there is an extra boulder/bomb Golem you can't get to or shoot or anything. If you look to the right on the way up the stairs where you fight Ricard you can just see him hanging around on his own :(

If it's the one I think you mean then you can reach it via a hidden wall accessible near all the Titanite Demons.

EDIT: I went to have a look.

Have you explored the room across the bridge from the fog door?

Try humanity.

I haven't made the leap yet (@dood) but I did wonder about it. Will investigate

I think I've been to the room Kyouma mentions, and must admit it felt odd. Like it had to have a purpose. When I visited it was just a table and two chairs and nothing more, but I wasn't human at the time.

But now I'm really curious!

I absolutely cannot stop thinking about this game, it's so amazing.

I'm fighting the bell gargoyles just now. I've died a few times on them but I reckon they're going to be easy enough really, I'm usually very close to finishing them both off.

Does anyone else feel they are abusing heavy soul arrows? They seem to make flights less about skill and more about keeping distance and spamming LB for me. Bloody glad I have them though.

They are a massive help in some fights, but don't rely on them too much or you'll never truly learn the fine art of rolling around like an idiot with one eye on your stamina meter while desperately trying to hit a thing with your sword.

The two homing soulmass spells are really useful when you get them, too, as you can cast before approaching and get a bit of free damage while you cower behind your puny shield.

*teehee*

Ps: if you carry on liking it this much you won't regret putting a game you played for an hour in your top 10 PC games ever

On the final boss, so I've been playing around a bit upgrading weapons (read somewhere that embers don't carry to NG+).

Ended up putting Ricard's Rapier up to Chaos Fire + 4. My Uchi +15 is still more powerful but jesus, it's fast.

Also picked up:

Avelyn, the repeater crossbow. The wiki says it can do around 300 damage at max level, is that per shot? Because if so then it's definitely getting upgraded.

After spending a fair while in the depths, tearing up the rats, semi-boss and the weird gas monsters pretty easily I was floating high on confidence.

Up comes the next boss door and instead of being sensible, using up the vast amount of accrued souls and the like I steam right in.

Gaping Dragon.

wat.
