Motorstorm Apocalypse

They're 3 of the Festival races shown at a press event recently. Whilst this is rarely applicable to driving games, I will say 'Spoilers'. So if you're already planning to pick it up I'd say best not to watch them so not to ruin any surprises.

You can choose the output resolution of the images from photo mode. They're merely re-sized for the website, as if you click on them you get the full 1080p download, perfect for your desktop wallpaper :)

Thought so, was just checking. ;)

So what resolution does this run at? Is it really dynamic 1080p as with Wipeout HD, or is it more 1280x1080 as with GT5?

One good thing about 3d games is that devs have to optimise the hell out of the renderer to get decent performance in 3d, which means the 2d mode runs smoother and in higher than usual resolutions. Super Stardust HD went from 1280x1080 to full 1920x1080 for instance.

Also, where's that demo? Can't wait for this one.

Demo Release Date 'coming soon', Wreakreation Dev Diary.

http://www.viddler.com/explore/sceablog/videos/1632/2.669

The video takes the viewer “deeper into in the suite of diverse multiplayer and solo game modes,” as they “learn more about the flexible, rewarding and entertaining game-play experiences Wreckreation has to offer.”

It also shows some new footage and reveals challenges, rewards and customization features.

The second video diary on Wreckreation will be available soon, as will a release date for the demo which is going through testing at the moment.

:)

We use a similar system to that seen in Wipeout HD.

The demo is almost here:

Finally – a demo is coming! Dates are very close to confirmation (it needs to be tested around the world just like the full game), but if you’ve seen any glimpses of a track called Mainline, you’ll have a good idea of what to expect. As soon as we have a date, we’ll share it.

If you're playing in 3D do the photos get taken in 3D too?

Photos are 2D only.

And here's a Youtube link to the Wreckreation video:

Question Rushy, Did you guys remove the penalization in the ranking system. I think I was only a gold legend for a day, I could never fill up my bar to 100% <_< I know , I fail...

Its gonna be a llloonnggg wait till April.

Gone, progression is only onwards and upwards. The better you are, and the wiser your bets the faster you'll get through the ranks.

disappointing

I like up and down ranking score systems. Mario Kart Wii has one, the best ranking system ever created. Having to do well in a race to maintain your rank is much more involving, intense and satisfying experience than a constantly rising score. A ranking score that just reflects how much that person has played the game, rather than any level of skill of the player. And unlocking stuff by just playing the game, never feels particularly "rewarding" at all to me. I know this is the way online gaming has gone, I'm currently tolerating it in Killzone 3, and loads of people seem to love that stuff these days, but I think it's one of the most disappointing trends in modern gaming. Part of my issue with this movement to online campaigns is the unlocking of perks. Customising your vehicle with perks is a nice idea, but having to unlock perks isn't. I'm presuming that in this game, like all other games I've played that use perks, experienced racers, who have unlocked the good stuff, will have a bit of an extra advantage over beginners. I'm not keen on that. If anything, people new to the game online, less familiar with courses and vehicles, should be given a helping hand, not the other way around.

The betting element does sound all right though, and I'm confident I'll absolutely love the actual racing. No criticism of the way the single player looks either. That looks wonderful. I'm a fan of putting a bit of a story in a racing game to add context, so I'm interested to see how that works out.

So yes, I'm still really really looking forward to this, but it looks like I'll have to give the new ranking system a bit of a booooooo!!!! when I first go online.
