cheers rushy just grabbing them now.

can you save the images and send them on?

And what about multiplayer can you grab images from those races?

The images can be exported to the XMB as JPGs to do with what you wish, but unfortunately the action cannot be paused in multiplayer and thus photo mode cannot be used there.

Annoyingly Evolution were the one team that USED to do them. And bloody good they were as well.

Photomode is alright, but i found you'd kinda ruin a race to set them up.

Still...this is a solid title IMO.

(At least it is until you start to race. Then it all collapses... Boom! Crash!)

I'm amazed it's getting such good reviews going off the demo. Erratic handling, unavoidable random debris on the track that causes you to have to sit through a crash scene. The camera doesn't know what to do with itself when not in the open. The main cardinal sin you must avoid in any game is leaving the player in any doubt as to what to do next yet in the demo track you're repeatedly presented with a mess of environment with no clear path. The section of road that looms like a ramp up but there's a step at the base of it that means you'll just crash.

Also with the destruction events, one event something collapses and you have to avoid the collapse, then in the tunnel a section collapses but this time you're supposed to drive through it for an alternative route, they totally contradict each other so the player is left taking a gamble whenever something collapses as to whether they should avoid or aim for it, terrible design.

The choice of vehicles is horrendous, a sports car that just ends up stuck facing a wall if you lose control and a skittish motorbike, great.

An awful demo.

GamesTM gave this 6/10 and summed it up in the review's final paragraph

'Ultimately though, perhaps the most telling criticism of all is that Apocalypse manages to render the sight of an entire city's ongoing death as interminably dull. The spectacle-racer industry now seems to have left its former forerunner for dust.'

Is that not just a rule you made up that fits in with how you your prefer to play games?

Personally, I enjoy the exploration element of learning a level or a track in a game.

In fast paced games like these, deaths because I take a slightly wrong route or approach don't irritate me in the slightest, as long as I'm swiftly plonked back and I do better next time. I found that there were comfortably enough big yellow arrows or other detail in the demo track to look out for to ensure I did crash less with every race.

I was ducking and weaving that bike all over the place and had great fun on it and like Ash day 1 for me also.

The fact that you are put right back in the race after a crash is great. I remember the 1st game seemed like eons before you got back going.

I love the cheeky little chaps throwing things at you feels like mad max

I'm all for exploring and I'm all for learning the nuances for a track but you still have to be able to tell what's explorable and what isn't.

Surely the joy in a racing/driving game comes from navigating the environment well, not repeatedly discovering that you can't?

I've played the first 5 races and so far it's excellent. One single race had more "OhmyGOD"-moments than the whole of Split Second put together. The vehicles are nice and responsive (I haven't tried any of the heavies yet) and everything feels very fast and on the edge all of the time.

Sorry no replays.

Out of interest was it the race "A Bridge to far"? And did you play the demo prior to the full game or did you start the full game first?

EDIT - Qore did a nice preview recently:

Disclaimer - This is obviously a video produced by Sony.

Well by the games nature, IE falling buildings and cracked open Crevasse's you've got to expect to have to learn those parts.

MS2 had issues similar actually as much of the track had heavy foliage or a large amount of objects where you wasn't sure if you could get through.

I'll quite happily play Crashtime as well as Rfactor.

But it certainly didn't ruin the game for me because you just learn them.

Of course if you don't like the handling either then "sure it'll chore" but IMO i don't have an issue with it. You just have to adapt and enjoy.

Personally, with racing games (and despite what some think) i don't subscribe to the theory whereby a game has to fit a certain criterea or level of control.

I do hate it where a dev will say a game is supposed to be like, say, a "sim" and its not - but obviously that gripe isn't relevent here anyway.

I think one of them was the track with the Golden Gate look-a-like, the one with the lighthouse collapsing on the track. I didn't play the demo.

Don't think Eliminator has really be shown yet, so here's a short figure of 8 track called 'Ship Shape' at Docklands:

This is one of my personal favourites for online racing, especially when the cross-over causes carnage.

Choosing the correct demo level is a incredibly hard thing to get right when you're trying to show off as much as possible, but at the same time trying not to give away too much. Give the full game just one hour and then get back to me ;)

But I'm not going to buy the full game until it's cheap because the demo was a bit cack. That's how it works!

The game's release is under discussion:

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, the publisher behind the game in the territory, has announced that it has delayed the game there. Sony had already confirmed after the devastating earthquake in Christchurch last month that the game's release in New Zealand was being delayed.

It is not yet clear if this delay will now be mirrored in other territories. Speaking to GameSpot UK this morning, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe said, "[The game's release is] under discussion at the moment. We'll get back to you when we know more." Sony Computer Entertainment America is currently slated to release the game in its territory on Tuesday April 12.
