Just played Ghost Recon in the dark and I was all like  coo ... Lovely stuff, this whole 3D stuff feels like mAgic. How long until we take it for granted?

When we get 3d on our mobile phones... So about 4 months in the future :/

(mine comes tomorrow- rather excited!)

I had no success with streetpass on sunday or monday. But today I looked out of the bus window idly and noticed someone in a Marvel Vs Capcom shirt. After a second I went 'Oh!' and checked and found my wee light glowing for the first time in two days! <3

Does streetpass still work when you have the system open and/or if you are playing games? I've been keeping the thing in my pocket on sleep, checking to see if the wee light is shining up at me with neurotic frequency.

Has there been an official announcement regarding when the system update with the shop and browser will happen and what it will involve? Could they potentially add in a messaging or chat system? Playing against people on my friends list at Street Fighter is just as anonymous as fighting 'Dave' or 'Roy' in the ranked matches without at least some form of communication. You can't even invite! It's utter madness!

I had a preview from a work colleague today. Massively impressed with the target game with the card (I felt that showed off the tech amazingly), not that impressed with Ridge Racer (but had a very brief go) and not hugely impressed with the camera. The 3D itself is very impressive though and the draw distance on Ridge Racer was really weird at first but fits the game amazingly well.

For me, I won't purchase until the games use those cameras as I can see some amazingly inventive titles coming that use all the technology in synchronisation.

I know that 1 year into it's life though it'll have an incredibly strong catalogue of titles.

This is the first Nintendo product I've not early adopted since the N64 so I do feel a little left out but in my household, if I got one, I'd have to end up buying another two.

Do the lights turn off?

Yes that right! The Charge light (orange) on the front next to the power light(blue)

Edit: Only the Orange charge light turns off... If your changing when in sleep mode all other lights will stay on but the Orange charge light will turn off

Had a go on a demo unit in HMV and the lady showed me Nintendogs which I was quite impressed by, subsequently had a go on my nephews one and he showed me the video demonstration and I had a game of Streetfighter both left me underwhelmed as a lot of the 3d was solely a couple of layers of parallax in 3d, some bits of the video looked good but on the whole i felt it was a gimmick being oversold, maybe some other games would change my mind.

Resident Evil: Mercs - Release date is rumoured to be June 17th and will come with a RE:Revelations Demo.

:)

Holy Wesker, Batman! I really want this, I've been sick and tired of the Resident Evil franchise for a while but the thought of the additional 3D makes it seem extra appealing. I hope June is true. Noticed it said it's still in production at the end.

I don't know, I'm kinda excited for Mercenaries but I dunno how well it's going to control. I remember 3rd person shooters on the PSP...

So long as they map quick turn to a button you won't miss the second stick. I never used it on the GC version.

It's gonna handle like a dream man, don't even worry!

Well that's bloody stupid. So I've wasted my visitor too. I was hoping to maybe build up a few for an adventure.

Nope guys. You've gotta use those visitors straight away.

My advice - save a few play coins, and hire some help to join the person you picked up. As long as you hire when the ! Mark is on venture forth - you'll all party together. Don't forget you can send a hero to the back of queue. They still get to have their go. You can get better results by using the heroes in the best order.

Whoever invented the whole Streetpass concept is a social genius.

With Streetpass turned on I find myself people watching more now,

trying to suss out who might have a 3DS to mingle with.

One scary side effect is that Ive started " Buzzing " people

ie: Coming in close for a " flyby " past their bag or rucksack  in hope i can steal their Mii off them.

I think when the unit is on the internets - as shown on the top left of the home menu - then streetpass won't work. But if it's not connected then it says 'street pass' up there. You may have noticed that when you shut the case it disconnects the internet and goes into streetpass mode. So I'm guessing maybe it doesn't do both at the sametime? I do think that as long as it says streetpass on the home screen then it will work - even if it's open. I haven't had the chance to confirm this though.

As for the update all they have said is May - nothing else. I just hope we're all pleasantly surprised, and not disappointed.

Street pass works from about 30m away.

Maybe if there isn't any obstructions. When I got home from work - by watching the wireless light on mine - I saw it didn't 'see' my girlfriend's 3DS until I actually walked through the front door which - at that time - was about 6 - 7 metres away from the other 3DS with a wall in the way.

Yeah, I'm not really arsed by having a bunch of GameBoy/Game Gear games on the Virtual Console store when it launches in May. I mean, I fully welcome them (particularly Mario's Picross), but I'd rather some SNES and Mega Drive games up there too. After all, with a 320x240 res screen and decent emulation, it'll be pretty much the best way to play them on the go.

Is that offer in-store? It's £222 online.

Yes, it was labelled up as "Package 1" on the shelves, £174 3DS when bought with a £35 game, although I do not know when the offer expires.

Game-wise, you can choose from Ghost Recon, Ridge Racer or Rayman.

Right. I shall ring them when I get paid. Thanks.

Have Nintendo confirmed that when the VC store launches only GB/GG games will be available?

Will SNES games be launched on vc for the 3ds in the future?

Out of those I'd get Pilotwings. It's just that launch title that everyone has to own, and it feels a lot fresher than the other two.

I'll keep that in mind. I'm slightly worried about the longevity though. I can probably only afford one game for a while.

Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it. I've been playing it for six hours now, and I still have to revisit most of the missions to three-star them, never mind completely perfecting them (which is going to take some work :o). It's a short game in the same way that Trials HD is a short game, and the '90 minutes lol' reviews completely missed the point. It's fabulous :)
