Right, after a busy weekend, I've set up my online stuff.

Friend code is 1805-2164-5569 I shall go through the spread sheet and add folks. Is there a limit to the number of friends you can have?

My 3DS is being kinky with my DS Lite.

I had my Lite and 3DS both in Sleep. I rested the 3DS on top of the Lite and it started emitting the menu sounds. But it has to be squarely on top to do this, and within a couple of mm of direct contact. A tiny bit off centre, or putting the Lite on top of the 3DS doesn't work. Surely that's too close and positioning too specific to be related to the normal inter-DS communication stuff?

The DS's sleep mode is activated by (fuckin') magnets in the speakers. You can set it off yourself with a separate magnet. In your case, the other DS.

Have Squaresoft shown any interest in the format yet?

Yep, Kingdom Hearts and a chocobo racing game have already been shown, a Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest game are in development. Seeing how Square-Enix supported the original DS Im pretty excited to think of what they will deliver for the 3DS :)

Also Level 5 are behind the 3DS in a big way as well with 6 games currently in development

But they expire after a time. Seeing as I'll not have enough for something decent I'm safer saving them for when I get a few more games and enough stars.

I've already ordered the pink Animal Crossing fan. It's gonna keep me cool in more ways than one during the summer months, no doubt about it.

Put my code on the spreadsheet. If anyone's up for some Street Fighter, add me + PM, looking forward to some online battles :-)

Code is: 1977-0142-5196

I remember paying 65 notes for the import SNES version of SFII, now I can carry around an even better version in my pocket and it's in 3D. Who'd have thunk it back in 1990.

All this 3DS play has got my fiending for some 3D action like a crackhead, so I downloaded the iz3d anaglyph driver and tried it out in some games - Crysis 2, Dirt 2 and F1 2010. Despite the fact that I wouldn't and couldn't play it for more than 5 minutes without developing a migraine, I couldn't get a happy medium on any of them. I got closest with Crysis2 but the effect was somewhat ruined when looking down the Iron sights, which you spend most of the game doing so that was a no-goer.

I'm hoping that proper 3D monitors work a lot better than that and work pretty much straight out of the box, as I'm thinking of making that my next big purchase.

Can you actually get 3D glasses-free monitors for the PC yet? I mean I'm sure you can, but are they still silly money?

They're in the pipeline - have been demoed I think, but I'm quite happy to get one which requires glasses. I mean, if it's for PC usage, it'll only be little ol' me sitting at the desk so I don't need lots of pairs of glasses. I don't usually wear glasses so I figure it'd only be the same as if I did have to wear them, and I wear shades outside in the sun so no big deal.

Re: that battery. I'm sure the one inside the 3DS is 900 whilst that new one is only 1300. That's not that much bigger - I'm sure it could give you a couple of hours more in full on 3DS mode. That 20 hour number is no doubt some theorectical limit with everything at minimum whilst playing an old DS game.

I'm not really enjoying Street Fighter. It certainly looks nice enough and it's really impressive that it appears to be a match for the home console version and not a cheap cash-in for the system launch, but I can't really get to grips with actually playing the game. It's probably because I don't play fighting games that often, but I feel like I'm trying to play with thick gloves on. I can't really tell where it is I'm going wrong. That and I've played a few online randoms, and each time got guys who play as Guile and just do the same spin kick over and over and over, and I can't escape from it. It's almost certainly just me since it seems to be getting a lot of praise in reviews, but I don't think I'll be holding onto it.

Interesting. I was trying to figure out some reason why they'd build in something like this, but it's sort of accidental after all.

It even mentions it in the back of the manual. Yes, I'm having a quiet evening.

This guy is on the sound visualiser which makes it the world's number 1 sound visualiser as now he can also dance to party bangers I load onto the SD card.

My ipod broke just before I bought my 3DS and was hoping it would make a decent little back up MP3 player but there doesn't seem to be a way of playing songs outside the application or in sleep mode, anyway round this?

Nope, you can't use it closed, sadly. Hopefully they'll update it. :(

I've got 4 games now, RR, PES, Pilotwings and SF4 and I'm truly blown away by this console, it's fantastic. The 3D has definitely improved over a few days play, the online is smooth and the UI is beautiful. I've now got 3 people on my Plaza from general milling about and I look forward to finding more as time goes by. RR blew me away when I picked it up yesterday, I think it has the best 3D in places but it's very easy to lose the effect and see some ghosting. Still, it's a great game. All the others are brill, SF4 particularly is incredible (online play is nice).

Next up, Ghost Recon. If anyone wants to buy PES, I'd consider an offer? :)
