Nintendo 3DS - first thread

Also, does anyone here have a good pouch or case for it they could recommend? Want to carry it around with me for the Streetpass stuff, but don't want the lovely shininess of it to be compromised in any way.

Gamestation have a set in for the DSi that is £7.99, that comes with a good case, screen protectors, extra styli and a cloth to clean the screens with. The screen protectors are too small but naturally the case and styluses are fine. The case actually has a pocket you can get games and stuff in.

Another useful thing to know is that if you used your Gamestation loyalty card when you bought the 3DS, you should have enough points to pay for this accessory set (that's what I did).

A lot of other people who live in Norwich in this thread, apparently.

I live in West Earlham near the uni so I can rarely be arsed to go to town centre

I lived in West Earlham for a couple of years, not sure if I would've felt safe wandering around with my shiny new 3DS :)

Going to take the thing to Uni tomorrow to see if anyone's got one!

What's the deal with the friend codes and names?

It's got my real name next to the number, is there any way to change it? I guess people will input whatever name they want when they add my number though right so they can identify me however they want.

By the way, I've added myself to that online list.

That's me added to the list.

I tried to resist the temptation to get not and if I didn't have an iPad 1 I probably would have spent my money elsewhere on Friday but I must say I'm glad I didn't. The 3D effect really is amazing. Can't wait for the 3D films to become available on it. Just a shame it can't play SBS ones

'Pupponvesh 2' and 'dfq23' i'll add you both to my list shortly.

Been playing pilotwings and ridge racer :omg:

Pilotwings is going to take a lot of playing to get perfect scores, but it'll be fun trying!

Ridge Racer is fantastic, the sense of speed (using bumber cam) and controls are spot on!

This is the most fun i've had with a new console / handheld since the SNES, great stuff!

West Earlham is about 15 min walk to the city, hardly a trek - my Nan used to live on Rockingham Road!

I may take mine up to the UEA if i go for a swim and see if i pick up any street passes!

Yeah. Ihe iPhone 4 has been out for about 9 months now with its gyroscope and camera. Amazing no-one thought of it before.

To be fair, everything the AR stuff/face raiders does has already been done on the iPhone in one guise or another, just look at AR invaders (look up), AR defender and Face Fighter. Obviously Face Invaders is probably more charming and polished (I haven't actually played any of the iPhone apps...) but it's not something that hasn't been done before, technically. It always takes a company like Nintendo or Apple to drag this kind of tech from interesting third-party tech demo to mainstream product though.

There's even a game that uses the gyro and touchscreen controls to control a real-life AR drone, then overlays an AR shooting game over the video feed coming from the drone...

Managed to get my first hit on streetpass with a visit to town - so that's something anyway. Mind that was a quick flying visit into town as well.

Added bonus - I just tried some of my Japenese DS carts and they worked fine. So I might get to finish off Slitherlink one day it seems... :sherlock:

Every time you meet the same (person) Mii you gain a level. :) I've met Corleth 7 times now because we live together, his Mii is now level 7 and does awesome magic damage because he is wearing a blue top. The colour of clothes determines the kind of magic. I'm wearing dark green which means I buff the next hero that comes in. But that only counts if you have more than one Mii in the queue. I.e. If you have met more than person at a time or if you have hired a hero. It doesn't carry over to the next time you play. Corleth is level 1 to everyone else he meets for the first time. But he will level up to level 8 for me next time we meet.

Edit - I think, may not be exactly how it works but it appears to work like that!

This sounds like Nintendo have licensed the rules from Calvinball.

Its official. Madden is poop. Getting traded in for SF I think, been hearing way to many good things about that

Gamestation told me that they're offering a trade price for the games that is guaranteed for two weeks; £20 for all their "£25 with the console" titles and £30 for all their £35 titles (or it might have been £35 for their £40 titles).

Thats a shame but then Madden is pretty poop on all formats these days.

The quicker EA lose its exclusive NFL licence the quicker we will finally get the 1st decent NFL game since NFL2K5.

It controls quite nicely, and looks pretty good, but it's so basic and bare bones its untrue. I've got 10 on the PSP, and its a far, far more rounded product than this

Cheers, may well have to try them next weekend, I'm away all this week
