Well, I caved. Took a brutal sweep through my game collection to route out anything I didn't need, & one trade-in bonanza later I am now the proud owner of a Cosmos Black 3DS with Ridge Racer.

I see what people mean about how lovely the unit is. I've haven't even switched it on yet while I charge up the battery & I love its compact yet solid construction. Here's hoping things only look up when I finally switch it on.

Maybe that's what I did wrong too :( I my single StreetPass acquisition sits there useless bobing up & down on the Plaza screen. What a twat, I hate him now.

Seems like Norwich is the place to be for StreetPass action. :eyebrows:

I was out in Norwich for hours yesterday and didnt get any - mainly as i left the 3DS at home

Now if Nintendo got the steps thing to link into runkeeper we could be onto a winner!!

Pilot wings

Worst launch since the european PS2 launch.

They couldn't even deliver a decent Super Monkey Ball game. SMB was what made me buy a Gamecube at launch - well, that and Rogue Leader. I was looking forward to a great SMB game with the 3DS but the reviews I've read have convinced me not to bother. I don't care about Street Fighter, so that leaves Ridge Racer which is getting some pretty good reviews. But I have some very bad memories of Ridge Racer, since I bought RR 5 at the PS2 launch. Big mistake, huh.

But, seriously, the 3DS - pretty interesting hardware but a shit lineup of launch games.

WTF, Nintendo? The Gamecube had better games at launch than this.

I was doubtful about the launch titles but Ghost Recon is a great core game, Nintendogs is a fabulous casual experience and though you might not like it Street Fighter is extremely good. And the onboard stuff is easily the best of any console ever. What it has more than any other console at launch is charm and variety.

Not sure i am with you there, i dont recall many amazing launches since the N64 but with the 3ds i have 2 cracking games and 3 more launch titles i want to buy.

RR reminds me of the psp launch except this adds something and has better controls but both amazing launch games and better than RR5 was!

Is there a set date for the Shop going up? I really want to download some 3D-ified old games! Though now when that does happen, it'll be like having it for the first time again :D

Also, does anyone here have a good pouch or case for it they could recommend? Want to carry it around with me for the Streetpass stuff, but don't want the lovely shininess of it to be compromised in any way.

This is a Great case . Lovely, thick, tough material, elastic holders for up to 12 games. A pouch for AR cards. Enough room for the power charger. Plus, the middle has a really thick, soft pouch where the 3DS sits snug. The whole thing is still small as well. Plus, it's cheap! It's also available in black or blue. Phew, that felt like a hard sell. I'm not normally this enthusiastic towards baggage.

We just popped down to Morrisons in Norwich and didn't get any hits. :( Gutting as I really want a new hat! Oh I added you as a friend a couple of days ago btw.

Does anyone know, with Streetpass Quest, how Miis might level up? I noticed all my Mii warriors acquired through Streetpass were level 1, but when I hired some cats, one was level 2.

If in my game, I'm on level 2 of Streetpass Quest, does that mean that other 3DSes that get my Mii through Streetpassing from now will get me at level ?

Every time you meet the same (person) Mii you gain a level. :) I've met Corleth 7 times now because we live together, his Mii is now level 7 and does awesome magic damage because he is wearing a blue top. The colour of clothes determines the kind of magic. I'm wearing dark green which means I buff the next hero that comes in. But that only counts if you have more than one Mii in the queue. I.e. If you have met more than person at a time or if you have hired a hero. It doesn't carry over to the next time you play. Corleth is level 1 to everyone else he meets for the first time. But he will level up to level 8 for me next time we meet.

Edit - I think, may not be exactly how it works but it appears to work like that!

Sega haven't delivered a decent Monkeyball since the first one. But that's not what this is about anyway is it, you pathetic troll-cunt. Just move the fuck off this forum forever you sad prick.

After picking up my machine on Thursday night I finally got a bit of play on it last night. Bloody life just gets in the way of stuff doesn't it.

Working through Morrius spreadsheet and adding folk in, looking for some folk to play SSF4 against when im on.

Is there a limit to the amount of friends you can have?

Feel free to add me in, my code is 4639 - 8945 - 3327.

Spookily J Pickford is on Morrius's list just above me, is he still lurking about here?

I went for a walk in Norwich this morning, around the market and then Castle Mall and Chappelfields, and then came back to find 6 new people! This is addictive. Most of them probably from Game or Gamestation. There's one called 'gstation' whose greeting is 'Remember to trade!'

Wonder if I can ask my students to bring any 3DSs they've got to their classes next week...

I should therefore automatically conclude that they'll never make another one that's great?

That said, I actually liked the second one for the GC too.

Oh, fuck off. I meant what I said: I sincerely think this is the worst launch since the european PS2 launch. I wish it wasn't and had actually saved money to get a 3DS. Though no handheld and only one game I kinda want to play is worth the amount of money a 3DS actually costs. I expected at least two great games at launch to justify buying the console, but that hasn't happened.

What the hell is wrong with wanting at least a couple of great games for my taste at launch?

To be fair to both sides, it's a good line-up in the sense that there's a lot of above average games on offer but none of them deliver much that is new or revolutionary. A lot of solid "8" games with a fair bit of recycling going on.

The piece of kit itself is incredibly nice though and everything that got bundled with it makes up for the lack of big hitter IMO.

We got Gstation yesterday - That Mii actually won me my red pikimin hat ^_^, we also got the really tall bloke with the affro. Not sure if he was working today, but if you walked near the xbox titles to the right of the tills you could pick his personal Mii up. :D (he told us to try that - we weren't being creepy)

Seems a few of us in Norwich, we should arrange a Streetpass Plaza meet. ;)

Yeah, I'd agree with this. I'm loving both Ridge Racer and Rayman, but they both feel like games I should have bought with one killer title, not the only games. Nintendo have been generous with the free software on the 3DS though, both the AR games and Face Raiders have been excellent showcases for the 3D effect, and they're both fun distractions in themselves.
