I requested a trial of one in Game on launch day. Alas, there was no demo machine available, but I was offered a newly unboxed one...so I managed to see the 3D on the setup screens. ;)

In spite of that dampest squib of a 3DS trial, it was rather impressive, and I appeared to have no problem adjusting to the effect, which had been a concern. I can't afford one right now, but that slightly strange "demo" experience left me wanting one more than I did previously.

Ok I'm no Alex W...but the screen effect is kind of an electronic version of this right?:

Whatever witchcraft is used I'm loving this machine with RR and SSFIV so far, I need to get GR/Pilotwings next judging by this thread, but Zelda/Mario/Kart can't arrive soon enough.

Exactly so, Fairy Trails was released on the iphone about two years ago and I doubt that was the first. Face Raiders is much more polished and entertaining though, as you'd expect from Nintendo.

Had my first go on AR and Pilotwings in game yesterday and the 3D totally blew me away. Managed to last a whole hour before I cracked and headed off to tesco to take advantage of their £175 when bought with a (£35) game offer. Game's £220 console and +one game 'deals' at £240 and £250 were ridiculous in comparison.

Spent a few hours playing Ghost Recon last night and the 3Dness of it is just lovely, its surprising how much it adds to the gameplay experience. No hint of getting any headache either and I was glancing between the two screens quite a lot.

Now to head out and get Pilotwings too

This happened to me too. I think you have to send them on a quest on your first visit to the plaza after getting the hit. If you back out without using them, it looks like you might forever lose the chance.

Maybe that's what I did wrong too :( I my single StreetPass acquisition sits there useless bobing up & down on the Plaza screen. What a twat, I hate him now.

Seems like Norwich is the place to be for StreetPass action. :eyebrows:

My 3DS has crashed twice while playing Ghost Recon :(

The first time, the picture just faded away with a kind of scanline effect. It was possibly still working and just the display was gone because I think I switched it off by pushing the power button then tapping the position on the touch screen where the power off button is.

The second time the picture stayed on the screen but it just froze and none of the buttons worked. I switched it off by holding in the power button for a few seconds.

Slightly annoying to have this happen in the middle of a big mission. Would be more annoying if Ghost Recon wasn't so much fun. Not sure if the problem is with the game or the 3DS itself since I've spent most of the time playing Ghost Recon.

I know some people have mentioned crashes in Rayman and when using the AR. Has anyone else had it while playing Ghost Recon?

I had Ghost Recon crash last night, and a black screen with a stock error message popped up.

Seems weird to get crashes on a Nintendo console, feels wrong. :unsure:

Rayman 3D has done the same thing to me and a few other forumites. Perhaps it's a Ubisoft thing?

Both screens stayed black for about 2 minutes and in that time I was unable to switch it off as the blue light remained on no matter how many times I pressed the power button. I really thought the thing was buggered. But then It just switched and powered back up ok.

I've been working through the spreadsheet and adding peeps, but the battery just conked. Will finish later.

Since no one else seems to be talking about, a word of warning on Madden. It controls and plays pretty well, but is obviously a rushed release, it's a pretty bare bones experience, and not a patch on the PSP version. Its been the only dissapointing thing about the machine so far though

Is there a set date for the Shop going up? I really want to download some 3D-ified old games! Though now when that does happen, it'll be like having it for the first time again :D

Also, does anyone here have a good pouch or case for it they could recommend? Want to carry it around with me for the Streetpass stuff, but don't want the lovely shininess of it to be compromised in any way.

Sounds like it might be a problem with the 3DS then. Hopefully it's something they can fix with a system update.

I'm fairly sure the crash happened right after opening the machine back up from being in sleep mode as opposed to mid game. I kind of hope it is a problem with the 3ds in general and not just my 3ds!

Sounds like it is judging by all the reports, although, touch wood, I haven't had a crash.

i got this fabric one in town yesterday and it's pretty nice and simple and quality feeling. it seems to be £10 in real world shops if you can't wait for shipping. not much space for extra stuff, mind, if that's your thing.

My 3DS crashed once going into the settings screen to the firmware update. The screen went black for ages and trying to turn it off didn't work but after a couple of minutes it sorted itself out. Very wierd, I'm not used to Nintendo hardware crashing.

Anyone know if the machine has to be powered off to put a new cartridge in or take one out? Or can it just be on the home screen? Bit annoying to keep powering it on and off.

Word of warning the quick start guide says to make sure the power is off. But people seem to be swapping out in sleep mode no problem.

Does anyone know, with Streetpass Quest, how Miis might level up? I noticed all my Mii warriors acquired through Streetpass were level 1, but when I hired some cats, one was level 2.

If in my game, I'm on level 2 of Streetpass Quest, does that mean that other 3DSes that get my Mii through Streetpassing from now will get me at level ?
