Bah, the Dr. Who glasses don't work for me - don't know if it's just my crappy laptop screen, but I was very concious of being able to see the blue angle more than the red angle and of having the red sheet of acetate right in front of my left eye, almost giving me a massive headache.

Kind of the same for me and i've never had a problem with 3D before. Sometimes i see ghosting images where the red isn't quite right and it freaks my eyes out.

So today during our school assembly i was asked to set up the powerpoint presentation etc and held back incase anything went wrong with the teacher giving the assembly.

Anyway it later turned out there was a couple videos of Mine Craft and it looked quite good. I'd heard of the game before but i might give it a go now.

therev was pretty heavily into this - if I recall correctly, did he make some of his creations online? If so, would it be possible to archive them from whatever public server they might be on, and add or recreate them on the rllmuk server - kind of a memorial garden or something along those lines?

In particular, from his blog I recall he built a statue of his wife It'd be a crying shame if that was lost. I don't know much about Minecraft other than a passing interest 'cos it looks so cool, but I've never considered tinkering with it as I just don't have the time. If you guys could make this happen though, that would be awesome.

That's not rubbish, it's excellent. Personally I prefer structures to pixel art.

For those with 3D glasses, do the clouds work for you? Viewing in 3D looks great but it makes my eyes feel weird after a few minutes.

Get Joyrex to give you admin status so that you can build this at the spawn point. Then it won't even be griefable.

I tided up the GIF-compressed version of his avatar, then pixel-doubled it. Someone may have already done this, and also made a better job of it than me.

This is the statue he made of his wife Doesn't look too complicated to re-create even if the original can't be tracked down.

Perhaps if she could be sited looking over his avatar?

A bit of research through his Minecraft posts suggests he might have made his creations on the BeeX server. Could somebody go and check it out, perhaps put a few signs up near his works so people don't destroy stuff assuming it's been abandoned until we've at least decided what to do with it?

There's also a statue he made of himself that would be cool if it could be saved I don't know if designs or schematics or something can be exported from Minecraft, could someone do some asking around on the minecraft forums to find out?

Great stuff, Alan. A smoother version would be good.

The wiki shows off 'cloth' dyed in various colours, I guess that was taken out of Alpha for some reason, would have been perfect for pixel art. Can we spawn ice and have it not melt on a non-winter map? It'd be handy as lighter shade of blue.

I was checking out the Catacombs under the glassfloor of the cathedral the other day. We could build a reproduction of his avatar along with a nice pixel message or just his name underneath the glass floor and then barricade the entrance to the catacombs. It seems like a fitting place for it to be built and would be much much less likely to be griefed.

Just a thought.

The best protection against griefing, aside from build limitations imposed by the server, is just to make whatever it is you're building utterly massive. Make it a real chore to make any impact on and I'd imagine that'd dissuade any ne'er-do-wells.
