This game looks so amazingly addictive.

The only thing I'd maybe have a problem with is like an in-direct bit of griefing.

Say I was in the process of making an awesome structure and while logged off someone came to give me a hand, but totally mucked up my design plans.

Do you get that a lot? Or do you all just help each other out when they're about so you know what you're doing?

Kudos on some of the creations though guys. I keep checking this thread even though I don't play, just to check on your progress :D

I don't think you CAN be like that. It's not in the nature of the game.

When I heard that someone had worked on the south stand that I started I must admit I was a bit gutted, but when I saw it I was completely blown away!

It fells more like a team effort now (despite the fact that I did very little) and I find myself logging on in the mornings just to see what the other guys have been up to over night.

I found that once I dropped my selfish attitude towards the stuff I wanted to build, I enjoyed the game a hell of a lot more.

Construction is just based on placing and removing blocks, rather than any kind of structural system. So if someone puts something in the wrong place it's very easy to remove it and get the materials back (with a few exceptions).

When working on someone else's project people generally keep to the original idea, acting as gruntwork rather than totally changing something. If you want to do something original there's more than enough room to go off and do that. Working together is more about helping someone else out rather than doing your own thing.

Most of the times when I've done a little something to someone else's project, it was clear how that project was meant to look, even if it wasn't in a finished state - I did a little work on the nightclub floor because some of the blocks were still dirt as opposed to stone like the rest of them, and continued Comrade's path because it ended part of the way along the route of torches it was meant to follow. It's part of the nature of the game (providing you're playing with a good bunch, as the forumites mostly are) to lend a hand from time to time. There's a lot of tedious work involved in building the larger objects, but if a lot of people just do a little bit it'll be finished faster and everyone involved will have a certain sense of achievement.

Grand Central Station is largely finished (now with fully-stocked snack outlet!), I just need to look up how minecarts work so that I know how to build the platforms. I'll put a couple of platforms and pre-track paths for Bruce Manor (right next to /home) and Orthanc as they're pretty close, then the rest of the station can be filled out with platforms which can be assigned to different destinations eventually. Then a few windows, and it's just a waiting game for when minecarts are stabilised!

Buy it whilst it's cheap, Tom. It's only going to get better over time and the price is set to double once it enters beta.

When it is set to go in to Beta?

I'd grab it now before I go away, but I have £10 to last me until Friday :P

*awaits the 'just enough' comment*

There's not been much exploring done in the last day has there!

The stadium is looking great, shotski has bashed those stands up with speed and skill.

We're not sure what to do about the West and North stands; I quite like the open ocean there, yet it seems a pity not to finish it...

As noted there are no real time frames, but Notch has said the alpha will end once multiplayer is "working properly". Whatever that means.

Lots of multiplayer fixes are promised for the Halloween update so it could be as soon as the end of the month!

Or it could be years away. :P

I have to admit this had totally reinvigorated my love for videogames. You can tell it's such a labour of love, and in either single player or our mutiplayer it's horribly addictive.

The whole pitching in element of our server is amazing, if it's helping or asking for help is simply wonderful.

Putting down the gold on the cathedral floor, then widening the glass part, even sticking torches down the sides of the basin. Even helping out with a bit of the roof. You just want to help!

When I made the path out the cathedral front just because it looked like it needed doing; and Tunisia just appears and helps out.

The footer pitch, I'd spent hours flattening it and I was flagging. I asked for help and I got it; soon it was a smooth and then i got more help laying the pitch.

It's just amazing how we all club together, whether if it's someone who's asks, or you just wander by someone or something that you see...

I'm looking forward to a bigger, meatier, single player game too. With any luck the Halloween update will allow this...

Did someone say they fought a slime once? I've only ever seen spiders, creepers, zombies, skeletons..

Wow! The thing is I've always been too scared to explore much. I'll routinely burrow down to bedrock, yet if I find an open cavern I'll block it up; otherwise i know arrows are going to start pinging at me!

I don't want to die down there and there's no easy way to see into the dark!

Does anyone have any duelling tips?

So my big build has finally been finished!

While most seem to be going down the route of things that look awesome, I took the approach to build something so ugly that it wouldn't look out of place in Birmingham or Slough.

With its multi coloured walls and scenic viewing bay this building is certainly going to go down in mukville history as one of the great designs of our time!
