Hello folks, I've just started to get into this on XSX (after loading up a file I recovered from 2015 where I basically just completed the tutorial) and have been enjoying hanging out with a couple of buddies in their world and hunting achievements.

I was wondering is there any interactive games I can build in the world that we could have fun playing when chilling out?

My first thought was a pool table but the only ones I could see on Google were just for cosmetics and not interactive.

I'm open to any and all ideas as long as the games are genuinely interactive and, hopefully, fun!

If someone could point me in the right direction for this kind of thing that'd be great.

Thanks 🙂👍

For anyone still rocking Java edition, do you have any reliable sources of mods? I've been trying to explain to my kids the wild west of PC stuff, outside the walled gardens of Xbox, Google Play, etc. Don't want them downloading guff willy nilly.

Has this had a Series S/X upgrade? It doesn't seem to have, which is a bit odd. It's it coming?

Nope, still listed under XB1 if you sort your games that way. I'm not sure what they'd add. 4k? AMD's ray tracing? (PC bedrock doesn't have that, yet)

Yeah I was thinking ray tracing. Is that not an official thing then?

Bed your pardon:

GPU: DirectX hardware ray tracing capable GPU like NVIDIA GeForce® RTX 20 Series and higher, and AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Series and higher

Didn't know that! I guess there could be a Series X/S version, then.

Minecraft Realms. Official servers supported on the Bedrock Edition that basically runs on all platforms.

Does this cost money?

can they be made secure so only the kids can get online.

Do not want them online, as such.

Never used it myself and don't play. I just know this is Microsoft's official Minecraft server hosting platform. Not even sure if there is an alternative for console players.

Yes it costs money. Read the link I gave for a table of features and costs. Basically it's $3.99 for a player and two friends, or $7.99 for a player and 10 friends. No idea of that's total friends or active at the same time.

According to the FAQs I think you need to invite people for them to be able to get to your server. It's a private one.

As this is Minecraft there must be masses and masses of information on this from Google.

you’d think. I’m not a complete novice at buying stuff online, but the Nintendo/Microsoft/Minecraft trifecta is so opaque it’s unreal.

having a kids account, and somehow linking that to an adults account and whether or not I need to pay for Nintendo online is just baffling me.

Yeah I did set up a Realms server for me and the kids last year. 10 spaces if I remember so we could add some friends too. Was ace.. then my son found THE HIVE, free online server where there are squillions of different game types - some amazing some not so good. Was ace having my own world/server where other didn't need me to log in first to play :) So i do recommend highly and like most subscriptions you can cancel per month.

Oh and of course I won't babble about it now/here but Nintendo online with this game is so bad/ unreliable its annoying to the point where i don't play it on the switch anymore. Which is sad :(

To be clear though, did this other place require playing on PC? Or does it work from consoles?

Does this work on the switch?

Also, My kids too small to play this on any other format at this point.

My main concerns are:

Keeping it deeply walled in, I don't want him interacting with strangers on line.

Allowing his cousins to log in when he's not online (preferably)

Free (preferably) or as cheap as possible

There's really only three of them who will use this, and two consoles.

Bonus points if I can log in and wreck it from time to time in badness.

Yeah I get your stuff about kids and switch, sorry was just having a silly ground-up rant about it. The Switch is SUPER.. unless its online in my experience and using MC.

Realms isn't free though. Was about £6-8 when I did it and you can 'invite' up to 10 people. Sorry didn't check to see if when my kids friends popped on, that could their friends join 🤨 that I'm not 100% sure about.

Oh and I set it up on my Playstation, so I guess you'll just have to try it on the Switch to see if it works for you. IIRC you do get some free days/time but again I could be mistaken or that was the deal when I started it last year.
