Ghost Trick - out now!

Different translator as well, I think? The writing certainly lacked that sharpness that the other games had.

I know Alexander O. Smith translated the first game. I'm not 100% sure about the others, but I think that was the only one he did.

I've been on media blackout since the first trailer. I'm really looking forward to going into this fresh. :)

Anyone?

They'd be insane to announce a £6 iPhone version close to the DS one, so they haven't done it yet. I'm sure it'll come sooner or later unless the DS version just keeps selling. There was a 6 month gap between the original JP DS release and the iOS port.

I am loving this so far, apart from not being able to possess Lynne's knickers. Denied.

Oh, and how nice to see a DS game distributed by Nintendo of Europe (it comes with Club Card points) with a proper logo on the spine instead of that miserable generic shit. I hope they keep this up for 3DS. This is the kind of thing that bothers me about the release of a major forthcoming console.

PS. Missile rules over all.

It's very good, no denying it but it could be a bit better if it wasn't so linear but then the AA games are too and I love them to bits.

Some of the tricks could be a bit more involved if you were allowed to do things another way, it's occasionally bizarrely inconsistent with what you can possess and not; like the policemen's nightsticks for instance.

I do forgive everything about it because of Missile though. WELCOME!

We got one! There was no sign of it in HMV ( HMV) but Gamestation had it (29.99) so I didn't have to throw a strop in Birstall retail park. Also I performed a good deed for the day: the bloke at the till didn't seem to know anything about the game so I told him it was from the creator of Phoenix Wright and he did a fliptease! After a brief chat about PW I made to leave then he loudly stated that even though Mia Fey was made out of pixels he definitely would, and I silently agreed with him.

Yes, it is very much like AA in it's structure which is a bit limiting when you're not in a courtoom setting where it's obvious that you need to find that one piece of evidence to move the game forwards.

The characterizations and awesome (rotoscope?) animations more than makes up for it, though.

I can see the similarities between this and AA. Missile absolutely cracked me up. The one thing that has really struck me is the animation - it's so fluid and beautiful. As mentioned above, does look rotoscope-esque. It has that polished feeling of animation that has more frames than usual. I'm finding some of the chapters quite challenging and finding it frustrating having to start over, just because I maybe missed one small element of it. It feels as if there could be more than one possible outcome, but I'm assuming there actually isn't?

I understand the visuals are based on 3D models rather then being rotoscoped. That turned out pretty well for them as they were able to re-export them at higher resolution for the iOS version.

After no delivery from Shopto, I picked this up from Tesco at lunchtime. Going to be on the train most of the weekend so really wanted something new to play.

So hyped :omg:

Mine didn't arrive from ShopTo either. Might I ask if you had a shipping notification? I didn't get that either which is suspicious, but I opened a ticket with them and was told that it'd been shipped. It's the first time I've ordered something and not had it arrive next working day, and the first preorder of a new release that wasn't a day early.

I feel ashamed for not mentioning the animation before actually, it's bloody beautiful, so much nicer than forcing polygons into every bloody game. It definitely does look rotoscoped so interesting that it isn't, definitely has that original PoP/ Another World / Flashback look to it.

I haven't noticed any different outcomes yet, especially in some of the rewind bits, some of the speech clearly says things like 'you've missed your opportunity' which is fair enough but also a bit of a shame. No spoiler but I thought a lot more of the game would be similar to the junk yard, as in LOADS of things to possess in the background and 'trick' your way through. So far, not so much but then again, I'm only just coming up to midnight so it may change yet. Cabanela's little Jacko animation is quality as well, so fluid.

I'm almost tempted to buy this again when it comes out on iOS if the resolution is higher. It's possibly one of the nicest animated games I've played - everything is so fluid the inspectors inappropriate dancing, the manic tail wagging of Missile and my favourite

the guards "panic dance"

It's not shopto's fault. Given the state of the Royal Mail at the moment, shopto just isn't a viable option any more sadly if you want stuff for release day or earlier. Where I live, 1st class recorded stuff can take a week to arrive. People are still receiving Xmas cards! Myself, I'm still waiting on something ordered from Amazon on December 18th.

It's brilliantly irreverant, whoever is responsible has done a sterling job on the translation, it really could have gone completely the other way if not handled correctly. What will stop first, my dancing or the world turning?

Now we need a Phoenix Wright / Ghost Trick crossover.

Obviously wouldn't make any sense without a lot of work - there would never be a trial, no one would die :P but still, I never would have thought a Layton and Phoenix crossover would happen so we can but dream.
