mr_woo
Bah stuck again. Whilst the others I figured out eventually I'm completely stuck on this part. I 've included some screenshots. You can laugh at me later but I've no idea I can see where I have to go but I can't see how. There's no gel to use and I can't see anywhere to fling myself from momentum wise. You can see into the previous 'chamber', if I remember correctly, and get some repulsion gel from there.
mr_woo
Thanks Rudi, sorted. I swear, this fucking game is going to be 12 hours long by the time I'm finished with it
RubberJohnny
Man co-op in this is good. Some real brain teasers, and opportunities to mess with your partner, like dropping a bridge out from under them, or sending them back and forth through the air endlessly An excellent friends list game. And the robots And the emotes And the hat I got for completing campaign Hats Just started playing through again with the commentary. Insane. Valve are doing some Pixar-by-way-of-NASA level stuff with regards to animation. How do you turn on developer commentary? Couldn't see an option anywhere. The one thing i really want to know is: where the hell did all those suction vent things go! I remember seeing gameplay trailers for them.. Good point! I wonder if they'll come back in DLC in some form...

Simmy
Just finished it, was pretty funny meeting Freeman at the end but give us Episode 3, Valve!!
Blu3Flame
Finished the game tonight and absolutely loved it. After watching all the official trailers I was still surprised at just how much content they hadn't let slip about, especially the whole section with the old Aperture Science. It's almost impossible for me to mention any specific highlights because I was grinning like a loon the entire time. Graphically this is such a step up for the Source engine, especially running at full whack on PC. I loved the 'dynamic' rooms and how the faulty panels gave them a sense of personality. The animation was so fluid that at points I just stood and watched the animations run, like the turrets being built and boxed. I enjoyed the game so much I basically started it straight back up again as soon as I'd finished. Hopefully the game will have legs and continue to grow in the same way as TF2 has. Rudi von Starnberg
Isn't VGChartz famous for just flat-out making up the majority of its numbers?
Vemsie
Isn't VGChartz famous for just flat-out making up the majority of its numbers? Well, these estimates are not just from them. But reading some stuff online it seems their credibility is certainly fuel for some heated debate. Some sites compare their figures to those of the NPD and looking at those comparisons it varies, sometimes the difference is fairly small, at other times there is quite a gap. So if we just look at the figures as a general indication it seems to be selling well. It certainly seems to be doing that over here as I wanted to buy it today but it was sold out (PS3 version). Fry Crayola
Just a quick question, then I'll disappear - is there any requirement or recommendation to play through single player before you tackle co-op, re spoilers (whether plot or gameplay) and so forth? Liamness
For those who have played it- should I go through co-op or singleplayer first? Does one experience more naturally lead on from the other? *edit* Umm yeah what he said.
exwhyzed
Single player first apparently because of some story bits. I haven't touched co-op myself yet though.
bradigor
Been avoiding this thread because of spoilers...so forgive me if this has been answered. Are shops selling the console version of this early too?

Singleplayer first. Co-op takes place after singleplayer, storywise, and assumes familiarity with game mechanics from the singleplayer.
df0
God damn it. I have 88 euro now and really really want to buy Portal 2. But my bike decided to break down yesterday and the repairs will cost me 45 euro
NecroMorrius
Well, it might be your lucky day df0. I have a giftable copy of Portal 2 for Steam going for £20 if anyone wants it. Paypal or BT. I can gift it straight away. First come first served! (I was going to competition it away in an act of selfless rllmuk love, but I'm really strapped for cash!) df0
Much appreciated Morrius, but I have no money on my PayPal account And transfering money from my bankaccount to my PayPal account takes days. Guess I will buy Portal 2 today, and look at my mum when I have to pay for the bike repairs (and make up a story about how I was not aware of my financial status)

robdood
Oh this game is sweet. I even had portal dreams last night! I'm up to chapter 5, I think have started my escape and just got separated from Mr Merchant. proper lolled at myself for getting the good listener achievement though.
RubberJohnny
Man the co-op robots are the stars of the show, I love the emotes you unlock as you go along. Rudi von Starnberg
I have one complaint about the ending of the game, and one only. Jonathan Coulton's song is completely forgettable this time. I mean, it's fine in context. But not memorable in the slightest, partially because the novelty's worn off probably, but also because it's not that great. Then again, I could never understand what people saw in Coulton outwith Still Alive. His other songs are just terrible, boring, cringeworthy, unfunny nerd shit. Absolutely loving The National's song for the game, though. I tried to take that radio out of the chamber with me, and the emancipation field just disintegrated it.

Jarik
Why do I torture myself by coming into this thread when all I can see is either spoiler tags or general praise about how good the game is? Okotta
Finally bought it. I love this game. Valve are amazing. I know this, because Half Life 2 is the best game ever made. Fact. As for the differences between the 360 and PS3 versions, the PS3 version does look cleaner and prettier. Strange though, since everything in The Orange Box on 360 looks better than anything from The Orange Box on PS3. I wonder what happened to that relationship Valve had with Microsoft, but I guess Valve decided that Steam was the way to go with this. And Steam works wonderfully with PSN, although I've only added a couple of my PC using Steam friends - haven't played co-op with them yet. Anyway, on Chapter 3 and this is so amazingly good. Oh, and hurry up with that maintenance on the servers, please.
Sirloin
Just done a goodly chunk of the co-op. I'm beginning to wonder how much of the ARG stuff is in Portal 2 itself because there's puzzles outside of the main test chambers where you have to put a disc in a drive. One had something I forger, one had lots of images cycling, one had a string of numbers. At one point GLaDOS also said a string of numbers. I don't know whether it's part of the co-op story (such as it is) or it relates to the single player story as it's supposedly running concurrently or if it's supposed to be 'decrypted'. Has it supposed to have finished now P2 is out? I think it may be tied in with single player after all. Yes, the co-op is immense fun, could quite easily have sat there and finished it in one go it was that good, but it was getting to the point where my eyes were starting to bleed through too much Portal 2. Also, make sure you do it with someone who won't dump you off a bridge for lols at the slightest provocation.
