Portal 2

There are three turrets standing behind a piece of glass. There are completely inconsequential portalable panels behind the turrets, you can't do anything with them as there's no way to reach the beam which would carry you behind them as the gel just falls down a hole.

Beaten, but not just a hint.

Think that's the one I just did which took me a while, if it is. Drop some repulsion gel just in front of the pipe then you want the beam to go from under the pipe across the room once you've got it in jump on the gel you placed earlier into the beam move down ahead of the gel then get on the switch to change direction. Once the gel is on the first part of the beam near the projector put a portal on the panel next to the turrets, step off the button and when the gel is above the turrets close the portal so it falls on them.

Loving it.

Only niggle (minor spoiler if you're going in blind like me) is:

Stephen Merchant's voice - wtf! not sure if it fits tbh.

I was a bit weirded out by this too, cause for one thing i dont even really know who he is, and for another thing im not particulalry a big fan of Ricky Gervais and the rest of the people he works with, and at first i thought he should sound more 'robotic', but he really grows on you and is brilliant after an hour or 2 :D

Don't laugh Master Racers, but is anyone running this on an nvidia 9400m? e.g. late-2009 Macbook via Bootcamp, that runs L4D2 ok.

I'm trying to gauge from the Steam forums if it will even run before I give in, and nothing seems conclusive yet. I wish there was a demo out.

Ah, ffs. I'm stuck in

Gamma Pump Station

specifically, a room with

All three gels.

I've managed to get up to the walkway on top, but there literally doesn't seem to be anywhere to go after that.

Very un-Valve design.

Hmm, there were two points in the game that really frustrated me, and I think that might be one of them. However, because my memory is AMAZING I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the right area. Either way, y ou should take a screenshot and let us have a gander, I'm sure we can give you some useful advice (which hopefully won't turn out to be 'ah, it's glitched, you'll need to reload').

Yeah, that's exactly the area I hated, I'll post my solution in a second (it's a bit convoluted, and I'll have to reload my save to make sure of it. Fortunately, I have plenty in that area :hmm:)

There are no exits in this area. There are no buttons in this area. I assume I'm supposed to reach the shaft at the top somehow but there's literally nowhere to put a portal or gel anywhere close.

Fucking bullshit game

Everything you need is closeby.

After you've gotten on to that raised section from the lower room there is a marked panel in the floor. You need to use that to get white gel onto the ceiling, then use that white ceiling to place a portal putting blue gel on the floor. Repeat the steps you used to get onto that raised section and let physics do the rest

There are literally no portalable walls in the second shot. More obvious clues please. :(

Edit: Urrrgh, I've tried to do that loads, the two spots of blue gel are too far apart to bounce between, and you hit your head on the ceiling. What a shit 'puzzle'.

You didn't follow the instructions properly where I said to repeat the last step. Get back on the floor first, you need the momentum

Right, epic puzzle spoilers ahoy:

This one's a complete and utter pain in the arse. From your shots, it seems you're stuck in exactly the same way I was: you've got to the second level, and can't for the life of you work out how to cross the chasm.

The thing is, I actually worked out the solution pretty quickly. It just didn't work, so I assumed it was the wrong solution. It wasn't: the section is just unnecessarily fiddly. Basically: you need to use blue gel to keep your momentum from the jump up to the second stage, bounce across it and then across the chasm. So I made sure the blue gel was in what places I could get it, then tried to bounce. Only, the momentum from the method I (and probably you) used to get you across will never work - it's just a bit too strong, and you end up bouncing off the first patch into the actual fence at the end, halting your crossing.

The only way it will work is if you're ascending using a specific, orange-gel influenced method, arranged exactly like this.

Meanwhile, my blobs of blue gel looked like this. Note the irrelevant orange gel from previous attempts.

You literally just run at the wall (no need to jump - the blue patch auto-jumps you, hence the raised portal) and you land with exactly the right momentum to make the triple-jump work. Tada!

Isn't that how most people will solve the puzzle, or at very least, get up there in the first place before being confused? I didn't see any other way to get up there, you make it sound like the original launch isn't the only way to get up there, I'd like to know how else it can be done for future reference
