Kool FM Super Sunday Special - a request

Recommended Posts

Man I have lost access to all my recordings of the Kool FM Super Sunday Specials.

If anyone has copies of these shows or a source where I can get them from I would be proper grateful. After shows especially featuring Nicky Blackmarket and Stevie Hyper D, Brockie and Dett with maybe a few guest appearances from Skibadee. DJ Ital, Shockin any of the Kool FM boys really. Anything with Ragga Twins on the mic as well. Talking 1994 - 99 I would guess.

Going back through my vinyl collection and just reminding me of the good old days of One Nation, Jungle fever, Telepathy etc.

Appreciate it is a long shot but you never know.

Sorry man, I don't have any of those specifically, but i'm always after decent quality radio or live sets from 93-95, if anyone has anything like that. I could listen to that shit all day.

Thanks for the response mate. yeah you have listed the 'golden years' of Jungle. Not to be an old git about it and all 'when I was young' but the tunes then were just 'rugged and raw'. I promised Dave White I would sort out a mix for him of some of the stuff from that era - if I ever get my arse in gear (truss my vinyl and decks packed away for years now) I will drop you a copy.

If you have an email addy I have a little 15 minute teaser mp3 I did the other day whilst startng the impossible job of organising, tidying me vinyl and it has a few tunes from then and I can send to you.

I don't have too many tape packs - was always out raving and the only things I listened too apart from Kool was tapes of me trying to DJ in a cycle of trying to get better (it didn't work and I now sit in a cell lit by flourescent lights rather than a jail cell in Dubai for smuggling porn and ganja :-()

I was listening to Kool FM in the car on Saturday and they had Deman Rockers and Flinty Badman on the mic :hat:

Wicked - in a rave they used to just make me laugh. With the 'If I had a hammer' lyrics and all that. Still listen to 'Quick Dance before the Police Come' albumn from time to time. I didn't realise Kool FM was still broadcasting. Was it on the old 94.5 frequency and presume you are chatting about the London station not the midlands franchise.

My mate got a spot on Kool FM which was like he had reached the promised land when we were young - then I found out about having to pay for slots and all that malarkey that went with it but still Kool FM to me was the number one station.

You ever go Jungle Fever raves? Ragga Twins, Hyper D, Skibadee, Five 0, Shockin, Dett all on stage and the crowd going mental with air horns - feckin aces man. Used to go to a little shindig on Charring Cross Road which was set up by DJ Ital I think, was on a Sunday night and a nice start/end to the raving week.

TELEPATHY MAN, TEEELLLLEEEEPAAAATHY

Who was the DJ on Saturday? - the thing towards the end of my raving days was it was still the same DJs 10 years later that had been doing the raves at the start and alongside the music and lack of women it started to get a bit stale with no soul and the whole boys with their toys and just about making a new sound from a machine took over. Talking about when Renegade Harware label was doing a lot of things - tunes like Messiah. Don't get me wrong Extra Terristrial on Renegade was bad tune. Right back to work enough reminscing.

Yeah, they lost it and never quite got it back. I used to be bitter about it, but now i'm just grateful for the good years. I'd love to hear the mix - donrosco at gmail is my email address.

BADMAN mix. Definitely too short. The Way VIP is seriously one of the greatest pieces of music of all time. Killer selection all over, really.

Tons for download here: Golden Era Jungle

Thanks. Yeah it was like the nouvelle cuisine of mixing. Nice one for the link, limited access at work but from what I can see I am already drooling.

'Too Hot to Handle' Randall and some nice Roni Size mixes. I will be checking that out. Tottaly agree on The Way VIP, big smile on my face just thiniking about it. Boy my neighbours are gonna love me tonight - old skool rave in the house. HABLA MAN HABLA!
