Transformers: War for Cybertron (PC/PS3/X360 & NDS/Wii)

Jinkies, I'd love to see a Simonson Death's Head, his style would be pretty much perfect for him.

I've checked and Simonsons' run on FF as writer and artist was in issues 337-350 and 352-354. I remember loving them at the time because they were pretty ingenious and quirky compared to the standard Marvel fare, with among other things the FF going up against Stalin in a mechsuit and a brilliant battle with time-travel devices between Doom and Mr. Fantastic - which resulted in them appearing at random points throughout the whole issue, so you could either read the issue as normal and see Doom and Reed appear at random points, or you could read the time-travel battle chronologically by skipping ahead or back to the page they travelled to each time.

It was in Fantastic Four #338 that Death's Head appeared, though I seem to have imagined the whole Transformers/Dr. Who recap... must've been in some other comic which isn't that strange since it has been 15 years after all! Here, I've uploaded the page in which Death's Head makes his entrance:

While this is so true it surpasses mere opinion (!), you'll find that the more casual types are only really familiar in passing with the cartoon. Animated motion just has a more immediate magical hold over people, even if the G1 cartoon stories were white rain-soaked dog turds in comparison to the great Brit-written Transformers comic book.

As a kid I was obsessed with the cartoon, and read the comics. To this day though, and im going to be in a tiny minority here- I still actually prefer the fiction of the cartoon.

Most of the time it makes no sense, but I much prefer the general outline and concepts, as oppossed to the comics.

someone has posted Marvel US FF vs Deaths Head, as opposed to Marvel UK FF vs Deaths Head

HOLY FUCK!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death's_Head

On November 11, 2009, Death's Head returned to the main Marvel Universe in S.W.O.R.D. #1, written by Keiron Gillen. Gillen has confirmed that the character will feature in the first story arc, spanning issues 1-5.[2] Gillen has said "if you can't bring back a time-traveling dimension-skipper, who can you bring back?"

Yes, that was me. Observe:

Oops I did it again! :( Keep in mind that I'm Dutch, so I'm allowed to do whatever the fuck I want without any bias either way

Edit: Oh and Simonson rules, obviously. Even if you don't like Marvel US getting its greasy hamburger-hands on Death's Head, you could do a lot worse than Walt Simonson :)

Well, that reads much like "the TF cartoon was inane claptrap, but I prefer it over the UK comic anyway".

As for which original Transformers canon (comic vs cartoon) was more popular, the cartoon won hands down. So you're far from alone in preferring it. Saturday morning nostalgia has a lot to answer for. Again, moving piccys are just more "immediate" to a broader audience. (A similar thing occurs with some films and novels.) But then, quantity and quality do not necessarily go hand-in-hand.

On a tangent now, one thing I've noticed in the wider media's (rare) occasional mentioning of the g1 Transformers, is that the cartoon is most often the base from which they reference it before any other medium. The TF comics hardly ever get a mention in this passing mainstream commentary. (Of course by right the media, when giving mention to said '80s phenomenon, should note the property's toy origin first and foremost.) But hey, a decades-old kids' fad hardly merits much chronicled accuracy, eh?

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, I need to get a copy of this, stat. I loved what Keiron did with Ares but damn, I'm just about ready to give him a blow job now.

(hopefully he's far too busy writing to ever see this post)

You'll be sad to know, then, that S.W.O.R.D. has been stopped as of its fifth issue (thankfully finishing its first story arc), because people like you didn't buy it, making it not financially viable to continue.

:hat:

Bombshell, blatant. Skywarp had the brains of a cabbage, not even Unicron can make a silk purse of out a sow's audio receptor.

The UK comic gave the world Death's Head, the greatest freelance peacekeeping agent in the history of modern literature. Alas, the Doctor ruined any future chances of Death's Head kicking Galvatron's ass when he shrunk him to human size and gave him a ride in the Tardis to some point in Earth's future where no Transformers were even present.

Confused? You will be. Marvel UK was awesome.

Aw man, Death's head was the fucking nuts. I have a TPB somewhere, with the FF fight in it, and also where he got his new body. Time fer some diggin in the book wardrobe, methinks.

Oh yeah, Transformers game, woo.

Prime looks great, Megatron looks fucked.

Prime's robot mode looks great... the vehicle one is just a little... smooth - there's like no surface detailing on it - unlike the robot mode which has loads, so it looks really odd...

Megatron's hands there are just half-transformed, plus he'll look better with his cannon stuck to his arm. Vehicle mode is a bit 'because we say so' though.

I hope his hands are only half transformed as the look awful. His robot mode reminds me of the movie megatron, rather than g1 or anything else ;)

Prime looks good though!

The vast majority of Megatron toys have been pretty crap TBH...

From the original...

To world's gayest tank in G2...

Even the Masterpiece one is a lot weaker than the others in the series.. albeit a HUGE improvement..

Best ones are probably:

Animated (Earth mode Heli-alt)

And the Classics one..

That's not to say we won't get him someway some how. Aren't most preorder bonuses unlockable/downloadable anyway?

I can only hope that Activision's lust for money might prove beneficial in this case.

Another point of concern is that Shockwave seems to be a bit too similar to Megatron's bot-mode layout. Not exactly a 'repaint', but close enough to be a 'retooling' imo.

So that means there'll probably be an Ultra Magnus unlockable which is basically Optimus.

In white.

Again.

Yup, this is a new Transformers reboot, alright. :(

In other news: Hasbro announced a new CGI-based tv-series for their new tv-channel the Hub (set up in cooperation with Discovery), it's going to be called Transformers: Prime and I heard some whispers that it might actually tie in with this game in some way. Would make sense. No point in launching two new spin-offs at the same time.

Ha! Im really glad it wasnt just me who was thinking that.

Also is why shockwaves gun on the wrong arm? Is it for people who are right handed, like link being changed from being left handed to right handed in twilight princess on wii :(
