From GAF:

"impressions after 2 matches:

-controls feel great. gunplay is very solid, hit detection seems fine, transforming and moving around as a vehicle feels good too. and yes, you can transform in mid air.

-graphics: looks pretty good. animations are nice, the maps look great. one of the best looking ue3 titles.

-there are 4 classes, you only can access 2 in the demo (scout and soldier). every class has a level, when you reach a higher level (you do that by getting xp like in modern warfare) you can customise each class: new weapons, new abilities (hover, stealth, dash...), upgrades (reduced spread).

game is pretty fun, i am impressed."

"-running around feels great. the characters have weight but they dont feel too slow/heavy. scout class is much faster and "lighter" as the soldier.

-no dog fighting in the demo

-you only select a class, no specific character. but you can customise each class. its limited in the demo but it looks like you can change the charactermodels as well."

ALSO

Okay, this is fucking awesome. So far everything feels right. I had a nerdgasm during the first game where I jumped over this bridge, transformed midair and killed a decepticon. My autobot then yelled "Another decepticon offline!"

The transformation sound is different but they nailed it I think. Game looks way better than it did in videos and there's a lot of cool little idle animations where parts of your robot move like fins etc.

Will say though, it does have the UE3 "texture hasn't loaded in yet" problem.

Also, Peter Cullen is the multiplayer/matchmaking announcer. Fuck yes.

(Edit - it's either Opt or Megs depending which side you're playing).. <_<

I hope the single-player is good, because the multi-player is absolute generic feeling ol' shite, the loading times are abominable and they might as well have called this Unreal Engine: The Game.

Note: I haven't bought a Transformer toy since I was about 8 years old so your mileage may vary.

Just played and seems really good. Only thing I dont like is the lack of a radar or map to see where people on your team are, although its a minor niggle as their names are on screen at all times wherever they are it seems, and there seems to be some network issues (lost connection to host it says), which I'm hoping isnt anything to do with my ISP/internet connection. Transforming and dashing about is wicked fun and the guns seem well balanced (can start with a shotgun-esque weapon and a long range one for example - its in the hands of the player; Bungie take note :().

Button layout is pretty good, transform with either the Y button or pressing the left stick (I chose Y in case of accidental pressing of the stick), shoot with right trigger and special with the right bumper in robot form and does a quick turn in vehicle form, with left trigger for targetting/strafe mode while in robot form and boosting when in vehicle form. Other than that its standard X to reload, A to jump (even in vehicle form) and B to throw grenades, something I didnt try, and could have saved me a few times perhaps. Left bumper only works in robot form to activate your 2nd ability. Oh and in robot form pressing up on the d pad changes weapons. Longwinded explanation of controls over with ;)

All in all is pretty wicked, and judging from this alone I'll be getting the full game on release, being the massive TF geek that I am :D

I haven't quite gotten to grips with the control yet, but I was pulling off a kill streak and some nice melee kills, including an airborne one that granted me the Knighted title. Fun stuff. It's smooth and looks nice.

Really interested in the single player as well. Probably more so if I'm honest. But still, the multiplayer could be really fun.

Whats that Knighted title about? Only played a few games and got to lvl 3 as a Soldier, which I think is the max lvl in the demo. I seem to be pretty average at the multiplayer, especially as I didnt know what was going on for the most part. Great fun though.

It could be a challenge as well. It popped up when I melee killed someone with my sword while airborne.

I only popped up one, but that was also the only airborne melee kill I made.

It appeared in the middle of the screen, a bit like pulling off a challenge in MW. I don't think other players saw it.

Was quite happy with it though.

I just got it from simply meleeing someone to finish them off on the ground, seems its just the name for a kill

The only thing thats annoying me now is the connection problems it seems to have, randomly getting kicked or losing connection to the host

OK this is now a day one purhcase for me because fuck me sideways was this fun. The controls are tight and responsive, transforming is a breeze and fun and actually useful for the soldier I was playing as (also Warpath!). Graphics are very nice, if busy (Cybertron actually has lots of pointy things). Fun times!

I must say, I had a go of this earlier on and I was VERY impressed. It's just really fun. The double-jumping and dashing, as well as the ability to travel quickly as a vehicle gave it a feel similar to a third-person Tribes title.

Almost certainly sales +1.

Yeah, had my first five kill streak a few minutes ago. Enjoying this way more than the Reach beta. It's fast, transforming works perfectly, the weapons and special skills feel great and the melee is very satisfying. Looks good too.

I just did that in a game myself. Felt well in the zone. Get the upgrade that gives you health for kills and the extra damage on coming out of stealth, and you can turn the Bumblebee-like scout into a deadly killer. I went back to soldier and I didnt play as well as when I was a scout. Its great sneaking about and getting the jump on them soldiers who think a few shots will kill you, only for this little guy to scrap 'em

Yeah, I prefer Scout as well so far. Cloaking and dashing are great skills.

After getting into it, Im really enjoying it. It does need a radar or something, as it so hard to pick out enemies in the distance...I just end up waiting for thier names to pop up in red.

I think your alt mode definitely needs more to it, like more power as it mainly seems to turn you into an easier target. Maybe that just needs more getting to grips with on my part, the more I played the better it got.

Cant wait for it to come out....just wish I could find a pre order with shockwave or jazz

Ramhorn 15

Ram-kill against an enemy who is stunned by an EMP grenade in Campaign or Multiplayer.

Tried to run people over a few times but didnt seem to work, maybe they have to be stunned by an emp 1st.

I want that Shockwave, better be a pre-order exclusive or something in the UK, or I will not be a happy chappy!

Apparently Amazon.co.uk has Jazz : Here

Play.com has Demolisher: Here

So looks like its only Shockers left to find.

Edit: Grrr cant find any info on Shockwave for the UK. I dont think Game will be doing it as I looked at their website for pre-orders and no mention of any bonus. Bah, cant think of any big online company who could be doing the Shockwave pre-order

I personally prefer the soldier, as with the mini-gun and better armour he picks up with level 3, you can take on pretty much anything. I keep getting 3-5 killstreaks against scouts and soldiers with him. That said playing the scout is great fun to sneak around with and blast tanks to bits with a shotgun.

When you transform from robot to alt mode, your cross hair seems to shifts downwards.

Particuarly for the soldier, it would be much better if your cross hair stayed in place rather than you having to re-adjust your aim every time you transform. It would make the transformations and thier tactical use much more fluid and meaningful.

I didn't notice to be honest. I think the biggest stumbling block people will have with the vehicles is that the controls remaining the same as for the robot modes. At first I expected a more traditional control scheme for them, but when it tweaked I was able to get the hand of it. Always a laugh when I manage to blast a scout in mid-air with the tank cannon.

I also forgot that you're able to melee by clicking the right stick. I think that is the only real problem with the controls but they did a bloody good job otherwise.
