Just got the new Game informer Today and Didn't think much till I looked at the top corner.

"Transformers: War For Cybertron, A six page exclusive review. PG 48"

And Holy hell we are getting a new TF game!

Sad part is it's not tied to any continuity. As the name suggests it's pretty much War Within but the Video Games on telling it seems. It's taking cues from Gears of war as a 3rd Person over the shoulder shooter. Will have a Autobot and Decepticon Campaign. They keeping quiet on Multiplayer but it will have some sort of Online modes. Like the Armada game you will be able to choose which bot you want for a mission but the other bots not chosen will be your teams AI. Enemies will drop weapons which is interchangeable. And like the movie games we won't be confined to land vehicles only. And transforming plays a good deal into gameplay.

Not a lot of vehicle mode pics, about the only one is Megatrons which has him as a less pointy version of Animateds Cybertron mode though he looks more tankish than flight capable. Most bots seem a mix between G1 and War Within with a few more influences here and there. Prime looks like they took the War Within model and just added his normal dual windows, Megatron is a more angular version of Classics (Gun) robot mode. I see an Ironhide which looks very slimmed down almost like a red Kup. I see a bot that I'm guessing is Blitzwing (closely based on his Animated form) holding a giant spiked mace weapon. Soundwave is ... well Soundwave. Like every other Con in here he is a tad sharp around the edges but He retains his classic head, chest and shoulder weapon. Another Bot is shown fighting Prime (who is holding a giant dual bladed axe) in what looks like a CR facility or holding cells in the background)

All in all it looks pretty sweet. Release is for 2010 for 360, PS3, and PC

those graphics are no oil painting... oh, wait.

TBH it's not the game itself that got me pumped. It's the fact that there are voice actors being hired, new TF toys popping up that nobody recognizes and Hasbro having a new tv station that needs to be filled out with content...

In other words 2010 is going to be the best thing since... 2010!

[edit] This is the figure that leaked out some time ago:

It's now highly likely that this is supposed to be the new Optimus Prime alt mode from TWFC.

By voice actors they better mean at least Peter Cullen, otherwise there will be fucking riots

Well, if they get him to do Optimus properly... sure.

Not like how Frank Welker turned Soundwave into his other Dr. Claw-voice during ROTF. Personally I think Cullen's voice is just a tad too old.

Pfft no way, Cullens voice is awesome and he is the only person to play Optimus Prime, even if he gets to 80. Any other voice would just be weird. It would be like getting someone else other than Peter Sallis to voice Wallace, the adventure game had his official replacement and he was shit.

I liked Welkers Soundwave voice.

Yes, when thrown through a vocoder. Otherwise it's just Dr. Claw. (Hey, the could use the Chinese option if all else fails.)

Anyway, GAME! I read something that implies a fight on the Decepticon-side against Omega Supreme! The battle with Tidal Wave was massive but this will be instantly better then. :)

In animated terms everything that's not G1 or the animated film is complete wank. Of course I grew up with them so anything else just isn't cricket to me.

Yeah but movie aside, much of the G1 cartoon is really poor - especially going back to watch it now - the UK comics were (and still are) excellent however...

Agreed though that the Japanese dubbed shows have been pretty awful. Beast/Wars Machines at least had some interesting stuff in there however, despite the CGI looking horribly dated now.

Although initially hating the simplistic look (actually the whole concept) - the latest series Transformers: Animated was actually really great - especially in the latter two seasons.

It started cherry picking favourite characters from various incarnations and the streamlined look grew on most fans pretty quickly..

I watched the older G1 cartoons not too long ago with my little cousin (well the first series) and even though they've dated greatly they still have a charm and fun to them which the others don't have. I had heard that the Transformers: Animated series wasn't too bad but I detested it with a passion and just turned it off in disgust. I guess I'm just stuck in the past when it comes to the cartoons, funnily enough the only Transformers things I've enjoyed in recent years are the new films  Really liked the demo for the Revenge Of The Fallen game as well so just waiting for it to go dirt cheap before picking that up, my cousin will enjoy playing that too.

I rewatched it recently- and to me it still looks great. Its got a charm about it and the episodes are fun. Also the lack of really bad cgi that blights modern cartoons (even transformers animated) was a breath of fresh air.

I guess because I loved it as a kid, i ignore any problems with it.

Animated was good though :)
