Can anyone give the definitive point of no return without spoiling or is it impossible? Is it best to do all exploration/ side quests during the first part of the game?

It doesn't matter actually the only achievement you have to worry about is the bounty one. But you don't get locked out of any exploration areas. More areas open up after the first act.

I'm close to the point where you go to Aurora. Are the side quests available when you get back or should I do them all before I go? I'm a bit bored with a lot of them now, I think I did the best ones straight away and I seem to be left with escort missions and fetch quests which are just glorified waves of enemies.

I found when I felt like that I continued on with the story.

I've been to Aurora once so far. and I'm now carrying on as normal. Plus I'm now King, and got two missions to Aurora waiting to be done.

I've just hit the Jasper bug as well, it seems more like a matter of when not if you'll be affected by it. Shame after all that effort was spent recording Cleese's voice. Tempted to just ignore most of the side quests and push on with the main quest to completion so that I no longer have to worry about coming across spoilers.

Then play through the game again around Christmas, doing all the side-quests I skipped and everything, when hopefully a lot of the bugs will have been ironed out?

I appear to be one of the lucky few - Jasper was talking from start to finish while I played.

I wonder if it's worth people saying when exactly they encountered it to see whether there's anything that might prompt it? Or is it just a bug that seems to occur at random?

I've not had it either, only that he's not available for a certain section.

Only played an hour so far, the opening section is much tighter and promising than Fable 2 for me. I'm planning on being a total bitch for the whole game. Looking forward to running around a village in my underwear setting fire to children like I did in the previous one.

You know, I was quite enjoying Fable 3 until it decided to eat my freaking save game. Worst part isn't that I'd become the ruler of Albion, probably about a couple of hours out from the end of the game - it was more that I'd attempted to back up my save to a USB stick just in case the Jasper bug happened to me (which it did after about four hours in) only to be laughed at by Lionhead.

'Har har' they scoffed. 'You can't be copying this data! Other games allow you to do it, but not us. That's sensitive data, that is.'

So, yeah. Thanks Lionhead, you bunch of swines. It's fantastic how you don't allow alternate saves for the same character, don't allow backups to a USB stick and then - ha ha! - chuck out one of the only games I've ever seen this random data deletion happen for.

And no, I didn't turn off the game while it was saving - it's just arbitrarily decided to wipe itself out of existence.

How do you know if you've got the 'Jasper' Bug?

My Jasper stopped talking for a while (7/8 visits to Sanctuary) which was weird cos he normally tells me about the shop or just a friendly "hello", but then he randomly started talking again later.

End Game Spoiler

Completed the main game yesterday. Managed to save ALL of Albion's people yet still keep my promises :D

I'm warming to this now after a bit of a slow start, Jasper bug notwithstanding. Partly this is getting to know the areas better and partly just messing about before going ahead with the main quest line.

My recent objective was to start a family in every area and I had a few mishaps along the way - after a wedding in the lakeside pavilion my husband was mauled to death by balverines before we could get home, another husband divorced me more or less immediately after we got hitched (I think we had to pass through an area with another hubby), so it's not all plain sailing. I also lost a date in mistpeak valley. I would say this is a better system than doing a few expressions and achieving instant matches as was the case in the second game.

I'm also a firm fan of the sanctuary and now I've realised where the dyes are kept (oops), mixing and matching outfits is as good as ever, with most items compatible with each other there is a lot more choice than is immediately apparent. My hero weapons are morphing too now which is good, even though I'm not equipping them.

I also like the single sales point which makes it easy to spot where easy money can be made (not that money seems to be an issue once the real estate is sufficient.

It's still frustrating that bits and pieces from earlier games seem to have been dropped (pub games) and more locations from earlier games don't reappear (and stuff like balverines which once had a specific geographical location now appearing in the Bowerstone suburbs).

Is there a way to send gold over to another player as a gift, without being in the same game world as them? I want to send over some gold to the misses whose account is on the same Xbox.

Also love the gold piling up in the santuray, feel like Scrooge McDuck.

Load her character into your world by pressing start on pad two and signing in her tag, then stand in front of her and press the Gift button, before picking how much gold you want to give in the Sanctuary.

She then needs to go to her own Sanctuary and accept to get the gold. That's the only way I'm aware of. :)

Excellent, cheers :)

No probs. :)

I gave up playing my copy of Fable III when I got the Jasper gitch - I think it's unacceptable that I should have to play a story-driven game without one of its key drivers of narrative, atmosphere and humour.

That said, I might opt to play it differently and just tangent about exploring and doing all of the item-related nonsense which I'd usually save for the last third of the game, when I'm usually trying to extend the experience.

Anyone know if it's possible to get a long highwayman's coat like in Fable II?

Not sure why people are classing the Jasper bug as a big deal. It doesn't make any difference to the game itself or the enjoyment of playing it.

Oh, and I had the Jasper bug. He wasn't saying a word - even when I asked him to explain the 'Sanctuary'.

Joined a co-op game with someone who didn't have the bug and everything was fine afterwards.

I wish he'd stayed shut up! "why don't you take a look in the Sanctuary shop?"

Because being outraged about games on the internet is more fun than playing them.

As I said on Twitter t'other day, it's weird how blasé people are about Fallout bugs yet the ones in Fable are basically the biggest deal ever and everyone wants Molyneux's head on a stick.

What with Rare apparently being absorbed into the Microsoft version of The Borg, we've got very few decent British developers left, and it's a shame more people can't get behind what Lionhead is trying to do. Sure, it's not always entirely successful, but it's certainly not short of ideas. I personally love the fact that there's a very British feel to this, particularly in an environment where even Japanese games are trying to be more American.

There are a lot more things wrong with Fable 3 than the Jasper bug, technical and design wise.

If the problem was only the Jasper bug then it wouldn't be much of an issue.

On the other hand if the game was really great then no one would give a shit about "silent Jasper".

I'm sure there are its just the way people go nuclear over things like the 'Jasper' bug. I like hearing reasoned and eloquent critiques of design and technical issues, just getting bored of vitriolic outrage Daily Mail style is all.

That said, the save games getting deleted is really bad.
