I feel like Lincoln won't continue as Rick much longer, the show will continue without him won't it?

Here is an interesting question to ask yourselves. If they today announced that they are doing 10 more seasons, would you keep watching?

I admit I got pissed off with it around the end of season 3 and then I binged on season 4 over a weekend. What happened to the purposed spin off series? is that dead (arf) in the water?

They do need to have some sort of ending..or goal for Rick & Co. I'm up to around #50 with the comics and atm its pretty much parallel with TV land. Actually fuck it, just have them all getting wasted in one last Hurrah as a tribute to Blake's Seven.

I've got a funny feeling about that scientist guy, like, he might just be some delusional net nerd or something, telling everyone he knows the secret of the infection, when in fact he doesn't know anything. It's just something about the way he's acting. Riding high on his perceived importance. I reckon the army guys have just taken him at face value, without grilling him for any kind of basic info.

8-)

That latest episode wasn't too bad for one of their character focused pieces - it helps that those two can actually act - but still had the perennial problem front and centre: a pace eerily similar to your average zombie. They'd already shown us exactly where the episode was going to end up so then surely they're going to spend an hour showing us something interesting about how they got there. Nope, mainly two characters chatting. It's like an inferior version of the Fly episode from Breaking Bad, except instead of being a one-off change of pace they do it several times a season.

The show would be so much better if they weren't struggling to make the budget and story stretch to the number of episodes demanded from a US TV season.

I'm pretty sure it's 16 (8 now, 8 starting roughly in February) but I do think it's a stretch. Yes, you're average US shows tend to be 22-24 episodes a season but those are usually crime dramas or comedies focusing on a particular case while the show may have a overarching story. Even then I still think it's too much. For a show like the Walking Dead that does a whole lotta nothing in between the good stuff, 16 feels like a lot.

As for the episode, what was the point of that 10 second flashback near the end that showed Carol wiping her face?

Has it been explained yet where that first column of smoke was from? Was it supposed to be the prison burning?

Yep, that's right.

I think that the flashbacks were to show the points were Carol was changing as a person and that tied in with her 'burned away' talk as each major point for her seemed to include a fire!

Well I thought that was great. Carol has been brilliant in recent times. One of the characters with the most defined arc since S1. And I thought her talk about being effectively the third version of Carol was nicely done.

Only stupid bit was the van falling of the bridge, which was clearly completely upside down three feet from the ground and magically righted itself for a perfect four-wheel landing. Picard.gif territory.

Otherwise, a quality slow-burner episode.

Standard pre-midseason finale episode, not a lot of action but setting up to the no doubt action packed mid season finale.

Surprised Eugene/Maggie/Abe weren't attacked at all while sat beside all those trees. Only one Teleporting Tree Zombie in the episode.

Sasha's an idiot, so obvious that was going to happen.

Two classic Walking Dead tropes tonight.

A nice teleporting zombie attacking the reverend.

Then Sacha pops up to do something absolutely bloody stupid to take the plot in a certain direction. Jesus H. Christ.

Pretty much the 2 bits I rolled my eyes at.

Particularly the Sacha one as the episode was building up that guy's betrayal.

Overall I enjoyed this episode more than the last couple.
