The Walking Dead!

Enjoyed the opening episode, I hope the rest of the series is of the same quality but know it won't.

The firework detonation was ridiculous.

Highlight of the week was seeing Eugene's attempt at running. Someone gif that scene please.

I cringed at that scene. If it was someone like Rick or Daryl I might have accepted the ridiculousness of it, but Carol?

Spoiler just in case.

I agree that I don't think most of the season will be of the same quality. The Walking Dead seems to use most of its budget on the opening and finale episodes of their half-seasons with much filler in-between, but I'm hope I'm wrong. At least hopefully not another episode similar to that Daryl-Beth one.

EDIT:

Just found out there was a post-credits scene. Was that after the "Next time on The Walking Dead" bit? That was when I changed the channel as I don't want to be spoiled and I don't remember seeing this post-credits scene. If so it would have been better placed before that.

imo that post credits scene was more harsh than the main program. iirc it was before the spoilers, people are now just gonna associates microsofts surface with spoilers which could be counter productive.

The rest of the series maybe the same quality as I think the budgets been increased compared to previous seasons.

Like everyone else has said the firework scene was ridiculous, if she aimed it level with the gas canisters then it would have been more plausible. imo it should have been another character (either daryl or the wire guy that was ex military) that was acting like a trained commando sabotaging and killing like a pro.

Pretty strong start to the season, a few dodgy moments but hopefully the show will keep up the pace.

Was the end credits scene on TV? I watched it on FOX/FX(??) last night, although I think I may have flicked onto something else before the credits finished.

I'm actually a little dissapoint it went so fast! The way is started was pretty awesome, would have enjoyed seeing a little bit more of brutality in Terminus, before Rambo Carol stormed the joint, just an episode or 2, not half a seasons worth.

So,

Tyreese can't have long left then

I think so.

So much focus on his reluctance to kill, and even though he pounded the guy into dust it went from him screaming 'I won't do it' to 'I killed him, but don't look'

If the guy he most likely didn't kill in the shed ends up the walker that gets him it'll be a bit hokey, but I'd have him as dead before we're halfway through the season.

Yeah, I went back and watched it, it's after the "next time" clip.

I think Tyreese did kill the guy in the shed, probably by mushing his head into a fine paste. I thought the irony of the scene was him doing it while chanting "I won't!". I expected the episode to end with a shot inside the shed, the reveal that he'd done something so brutal, but thankfully not. We have after all watched Rick chew a guy's throat out.

How did

Carol and Tyrese know the others were at Terminus?

Must be something I've forgotten from the last series. Thanks.

They didn't, they were just heading there because they had nowhere else to go. Then they found the guy who was talking on his radio about the "chick with sword" and "boy with the hat" and saying how he wanted the hat after the blood had been drained from the boy.

Anyone watch the Talking Dead aftershow thing? It annoys me cos the writer of that ep was on and had to explain stuff

the big hairy bloke the goodies released from the train cart and then immediately killed, was the same guy from the flashback at the end of the episode, with the facial tattoos apparently showing the audience this. I didn't pick up on it at all. If you can't write a fucking story to convey what you're trying to say then you need to do it better.

Imagine if Vince Gilligan had to go on Twitter to explain Breaking Bad stories

"you know of course Walt actually poisoned Brock and that's how he gets Jesse to help him with......."

I hate that any attempt at story or subtlety is fucked in the bin to be replaced by a firework mortar explosion.

Thanks. I missed that somehow.

Hmm, I actually that was pretty clear. Even if you didn't spot it was the same character the dialogue gave it away, what with the whole backstory of the group holding Rick being about the cattle becoming the butcher. His short line or two, the woman that Rambo killed in the room with the candles, the flashback...

That was pretty bad ass. TBH I think it may have been my favourite episode of the show, or at least joint with the pilot. I thought it was really obvious that the guy the goodies let go was the guy at the end. He's obviously taken over the compound and the rest of the series is going to be them getting revenge on "our" group.
