R.A. is amazing live, so much energy and genuine passion. I saw him on his lonesome on stage, no hype man, no nothing, just him and a mic and he killed it. Blasted the roof off and completely overshadowed the big crews that went on before and after him. Nowadays he keeps his clothes on though! r.A. got classy

It's actually the second time I've seen him. The first time, maybe 4 years ago, was a fucking disaster. He was touring just by himself, like you said, not even with his own DJ. I think he was just collaborating with local DJ's on a gig-by-gig basis or something. Anyway, you could tell the lack of preparation and synergy between R.A. and our guy caught them both out (a local living legend, btw) and they had a bit of a bust-up on stage. It was awkward as hell. Because of the crowd's loyalty to our DJ, the whole place turned on R.A. It wasn't a good vibe, let's put it that way. He was getting all defensive, dudes in the crowd stole his hat, he lost his shit at that, etc, etc. R.A.'s grandfather is actually from Glasgow, seemingly. I remember him sarcastically saying on the mic "Welcome back to the motherland, huh?"

But this current tour, however, is as tight a fucking rap show as I've ever seen. His hypegirl Angel Davanport and his DJ Psalm One were fucking dope. It's also just really cool to see R.A. flanked and supported by two really strong female artists, weirdly. You somehow couldn't imagine the young R.A. sharing the stage with two girls who weren't at least stripped naked  So shout out to them, they really helped turn it out. Superb show.

You were unlucky that he got into arguments that first time Cal! Can't be helped. At the show I was at, also without a DJ or anything, there were no issues. Once he was down to nothing but his boxers and three ties, he jumped into the packed crowd, sweat and all, and did a bunch of tracks straight from the mosh pit. Lots of crowd interaction - both physically and lyrically  I managed to convince not just my hip hop friends, but a bunch of others who had never even been to a live hip hop show in their lives and were into stuff like pop or metal or punk, to also come along because I could get really cheap tickets through a contact of mine - and even they all really enjoyed R.A.! The other acts they were a bit meh about, but they were very enthusiastic about R.A. - hella entertaining MC.

And yeah, getting a steady girlfriend and subsequently marrying her, has indeed mellowed him out a bit live in terms of fighting, getting almost naked, and groping chicks - but otherwise from what I hear from you and others the shows are still just as awesome. Hope I get the chance to see him live again sometime.

A$ap ain't my thing either, I don't think I'll ever be able to stand the way he raps. Don't know if it's an age thing as I listen to plenty of hip hop artists that are currently in their twenties.

Anyway, personally I prefer Aesop:
