Uncharted: The Movie

Recommended Posts

Now Dan Trachtenberg is off the movie and it's looking for its sixth director.

They've also made the, probably obvious, move of shuffling it sideways to the new PlayStation Productions studio, to be it's first movie.

Having young Drake is probably a more interesting choice than having him as an adult, given that grown-up Drake would pretty much be Indiana Jones in modern dress. I've seen that latter film before, but I'm at least mildly interested in seeing young Drake learning the ropes of being an extremely violent grave robber.

Travis Knight is the latest director. He worked on a bunch of Laika stop-motion stuff, including directing Kubo, and Bumblebee was his first live action movie.

Are they trying to set this up as something that runs as a series for about 20 years? As otherwise (and even then, not least because counting those chickens before they've hatched rarely goes well) that makes very little sense.

Jon Hamm is probably a bit young for Sully, but that's a really good shout anyway. You could easily believe he'd be a Drake-like figure in his day.

Mark Wahlberg is a curiously charmless actor, he's got arsehole written all over him, even before you know about his previous convictions for racially motivated violence. For all that, he's actually not a bad actor in the right role, but he should really play villains rather than heroes.

Hey guys were going to green light an Uncharterd film....but get this, we're going to go for YOUNG Nathan Drake. Everyone loved those sections right. Also we're going to bring in the most 2-dimensional charmless actor to play Sully.

This has failure written all over it.

Marky Mark Wahlberg is set to star alongside Tom Holland. Apparently Drake's mentor Sully.

Drake, you have to find the lost Macguffin in deepest Vietnam... also if you could blind a few of them for me while you're at it that'd be super. Don't worry Drake this will no impediment to future success do some reason.

I suggested that back on page 1 of this thread (that apparently I started?). That was back when I thought they were casting a Nathan Drake more in line with the age of the games.

It's now lost it's sixth director. Travis Knight is out due to scheduling problems. Tom Holland's schedule is making them move the production a bit, but that doesn't suit Knight, so they're looking for a seventh director.

I dunno, he's almost 50 now. A bit of makeup and he could easily be aged a bit more. I think he'd be a wonderful Sully, I really like that idea (even if it wasn't an obvious one).
