Ha that’s pretty cool, when the kids were home schooling during last year’s lockdown, I installed some PuttPutt games on a laptop for my youngest. She’ll love them on her switch!

First half is about GE (movie and game). Nice analysis of the link between the long enemy hit reaction animations, and the slow pace of the manual/precision aiming mode.

 

From 37m onwards is about other 1997 FPSs. (Turok, Doom 64, Quake 2, Hexen 2, Dark Forces 2, Deer Hunter, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage, and... Forbes Corporate Warrior?)

I think it's probably been pushed back due to the whole soviet theme of the game and the current world situation.

It's great to read your comments about The Golden Files (now very, very old) and the retrospective I wrote about running PDark.com (more recent). A friend of Alex - co-creator of The Golden Files -  brought these message board posts to his attention! Alex is the guy who made all the amazing maps (he's now an architect). 

 

We had a great time creating The Golden Files and we were chuffed as hell - us eager, geeky 15-year-olds - to mail out a bunch of copies across the country. So it does warm my heart to read that a few people still remember it fondly now. 

 

It's also fantastic to see the GoldenEye community is still going strong

Apart from Grubb, all the rumours and leaks hinted at an imminent announcement or even surprise release. That it's now gone completely silent is probably explained by the above situation. Sometimes the most obvious and logical explanation is just correct, you know?

Looking forward to all the 'Goldeneye was always shit' hot takes from the usual bellends. I played through it last year and while it's definitely aged and has a handful of rough levels, it's still really enjoyable. 

 

The real concern is how well they've mapped it to the Xbox pad.

I had a four player match on Goldeneye a couple of months ago and it was still great. Also, nothing beats the crunchy sound of a single KF7 headshot throw the Bunker doors' thick glass windows.

Yep. Playing this online has the potential to be great. I hope the next gen updates for the REmakes are dropped during the show too. Anything else would be a bonus. And hopefully that bonus is Forza Motorsport!
