League Two - Official Dressing Room

kammyspredos.jpg

Oh la la! It's Kammy's predos!

Last week Kammy got 5 out of 10 right, continuing his record of mediocrity!

10.gifBilly Brown vs Slotter25.gif

This is a tale of two teams with very differing starts. After pushing league leaders Sporting in their opening games, Fulham have earned only one win in their opening six games. Not the best of starts, and I expected Billy to be giving it a bit more welly. Slotter, on the other hand, is experienced at this level and is showing it. 9 points from six games isn't a bad return, and he's flying high going into this fixture having gained three of those points last week. I feel bad for Billy, but I have to go with the form book on this one.

Verict: Bordeaux are taking the six points home from this one.

508.gifOneDaveBamber vs Bradigor103.gif

We should have a good couple of matches on our hands here. Bradigor was manager of West Ham last season and gave what was, quite frankly, a terrible effort in last season's League Two. Bradigor has reportedly blamed Dean Ashton and Carlton Cole for this. Normally, I'd reckon that West Ham have a good frontline that could challenge in this league. However, bradigor isn't the only one suffering the West Ham (Claret &) Blues. New manager OneDaveBamber has been having trouble getting the best from his players, even going as far as calling double training sessions just two games into the season. Both teams are neck and neck, but should West Ham steal a point or three off Fenerbeejay tonight they'll see themselves the more likely to get the points.

Verdict: I'm on the fence. Three points each.

33.gifYiggy vs Superstarbeejay625.gif

Two teams that I think will have done well come the end of the season. Marseille are one of four sides on 9 points after the opening three weeks. Their last game was a win against table-proppers Ajax, and Yiggy will be telling his players to take the confidence into this game. They've got some class and I can see Marseille doing well in these games if Yiggy's players can show their best sides. At the time of writing, Fenerbahçe are yet to play last week's fixtures, but I don't see a problem with them getting six points against Bamber. They've been playing well and they've hit the ground running. Fenerbahçe, however, surely must drop some points at some stage, and this week I can see them doing so.

Verdict: A win and a draw for Fenerbeejay.

76.gifASM vs Siread80.gif

Another team sitting on 9 points is ASM's Sampdoria. They had an indifferent first week but have steadied themselves since then, gaining 5 of their 9 points in the last fortnight. This week they're facing an Ajax side sitting at the foot of the table, but just a win from safety. They're a side low on confidence, and I'm not sure the squad has the quality in depth to challenge this season. I reckon it could be another hard week for siread.

Verdict: 2 wins for Sampdoria.

128.gifHereticboy vs AlfromSleep134.gif

These two sides recently met in the League Cup and Sporting came away with a 6-1 win. Hereticboy has been quoted as saying the game was 'a piece of piss', but AlfromSleep will be out to show that his side are not going to Portugal to simply roll over for the title chasers. Besiktas don't go into this matchup in the best of form, winning only a single point in their last three games. Sporting dropped points for the first time last week, but maintain their long undefeated run that stretches back to Season 16. They'll be looking to run this show.

Verdict: 6 points for Sporting.

749.gifScratch vs Razzle573.gif

The draw king Razzle lived up to his reputation by grabbing yet another draw last week against league leaders Sporting. Needless to say we'll have another draw on our hands. Scratch, however, will get a win in the other game. I know this one's a bit short, but fuck it. Time is money, yeah?

Verdict: Scratch to grab a win and a draw.

749.gifscratch (1 - 0) Billy Brown 10.gif

A close game expected after last seasons fixtures, and that's what we got, both teams cancelling each other out. It never felt like I was going to put the ball in the net so I was fortunate when Billy did it for me. I whipped the ball in early (HereticboyTM), Billy made a last ditch attempt to clear but only succeeded in sliding it into his own goal.

Cruel for Billy to take nothing from this match.

I was much more relaxed after stealing the points in the first game. It also helped that I got all the luck again as I won every 50-50 ball and every rebound fell kindly to a Hoffenheim player.

CFTG Billy, I was very fortunate to take all 6 points here, good luck with the rest of the season.

Hoffenheim back on track but the Saturday night celebrations were spoilt when the manager was forced to take the any role in some late night BAP games :) .

Hurry up and play, Beejay! :)

Oh, man, what a couple of games. I'd love to say that I gave the Bambers a lesson in football but we had 2 of the weirdest matches I've ever played on Fifa. I'm too flabagasted to write a match report right now but Dave did not deserve the results he got by any means. Maybe I deserved the win in the second but definitely not the first.

Before I forget though I'll note goal scorers:

Ashton & Bradigor Make Peace

West Ham 3-0 Getafe

Getafe 3-2 West Ham

Honours even at the end of day when West Ham took on Getafe. Getafe however will feel mightily aggrieved in the 1st game after hammering at the door for 80 minutes. Somehow though West Ham took the lead through last season's top scorer Carlton Cole after the Getafe keeper decided to leave an easy ball well alone. The defence was again at fault for the second and the keeper let a quickfire 3rd somehow go through his chest.

The Second match looked to be favouring the West Ham players as the Getafe defenders ran in to each other letting Ashton through to lob the keeper. This only sought to make Getafe angry as they piled on the pressure to take a 2-1 lead into half time. They extended this lead on 75 minutes and looked to have the game sewn up. Getafe being Getafe decided to make things difficult and let Mark Noble in to make the final 5 minutes a tense affair. This saw the Gatafe manager booked for foul language.

What was heartwarming to see though was The former West Ham manager and striker Dean Ashton put aside their differences at the end of the games.

Sporting Drop Two Points But Retain Top Spot!

This was fairly tight and probably deserved to end up as a draw. Al went ahead on about 11 minutes, but after a little bit of settling down I managed to grab two quick goals, and a third before half time. The second half I didn't do too much and Al put the pressure on with two or three really good chances to finish. Thankfully he couldn't, and I managed to hold out and get the three points.

This was a pretty deserved score, I think. My passing and movement was everywhere in the first half and the beginning of the second, and Al took advantage. It was 3-1 when I started my comback, and I had two chances right at the end to win it, but couldn't. Two headers that normally would have gone in, or forced a corner, simply went over. A shame, really, but Al played well enough to deserve the draw.

Sorry my reports are a bit shit, I'm a bit tired :).

First match, if I hadn't conceded bang on half time I might have been able to get back into it but I couldn't finish some good chances.

Scorer: Delgado, 11

Second match thought I played really well in the first half, kept Sporting down to 1 shot (which went in) after taking the lead with some good wing play resulting in a Holosko goal. Liedson pulled things level on 30 minutes before Bobo gave me the 3-1 halftime lead, with a shot off the post in between the 2 goals.

Sporting took over and controlled most of the second half and pulled one back on 69 minutes through Liedson again before some terrible defending resulted in the equaliser 5 minutes later.

Was nervy stuff in the closing minutes as I clung on to the deserved point and 2 headers looked like going in right at the death.

Wonder goal from Chilean midfielder sets tone for West Bamber’s night(mare)

Fenerbeejay 4 – 0 West Bamber

West Bamber 1 – 4 Fenerbeejay

Senturk 3

Alex

Maldonado

Claudio Andrés del Tránsito Maldonado Rivera scored what many would consider to be the goal of the season in a freak event which set Fenerbeejay on their way to 6 points against league strugglers West Bamber.

Speaking to press after the match Claudio claimed that it was intentional but most have their doubts including the Fenerbeejay fans

“you don’t really expect to shoot from 2 yards inside your opposition’s half and score with it, I’m certain it was a mistake as he was moving in to make a challenge and the ball flew off his boot.”

Regardless of the defensive midfielder’s intention it sent Fenerbeejay on their way back to the top of the table by 2 clear points.

It would be easy to say that Fenerbeejay dominated in both games and deserved the points but the reality is that they were under constant pressure from the strength of the West Bamber attack and it was a miracle that they held on until the 165th minute of the tie when Ashton eventually capitalised on one of his many opportunities. West Bamber consistently won the ball in midfield especially the high ball.

The goals in the first game came from all over the pitch after Maldonado’s wonder goal followed with a header from Guiza from a left wing cross and good finishes from Alex and Senturk.

West Bamber would have been hopeful going into the second match after bossing most of the play without being able to take any chances. The hope was dashed very early on as Guiza broke free of the defence and clamly slotted home. Within minutes the game was won with another headed goal from the classy striker. Senturk made it 3 but West Bamber showed signs of recovery to make it 3 – 1 until the Turkish international put the game to bed quickly after.

Again, the difference between the sides was the finishing but Fenerbeejay should have scored more with a couple of good chances and a header from 6 foot which inexplicably went wide.

Superstarbeejay will be happy with the 6 points but once again will come away feeling like it could easily have gone the other way.

“I think we have had a superb start but we are in a slightly false position at the moment with some huge fixtures coming up. Come back to me in 3 weeks time and if we are still top of the table then maybe then we can start talking about promotion hopes.”

As for the London side, they will continue to look down the table and wonder what might have been had their strikers performed.

Yes dont know what happened with the disconnect. I promise it wasnt on purpose!

You had that well and truly wrapped up so I am happy with the result.

Felt I was unlucky in the 1st, especially in the 1st half but you deserved both wins overall. Well done.

I've had disconnections like that before in league matches so it's not unusual.

I think I genuinely did deserve both wins but the first was certainly my hardest fought.

Once you drew level I really knew I had to push forward to get back on top. Luckily a created a couple of really good chances and took them. I think it was the third that I was particularly happy with with a flowing move down the right, a through ball inside, round your defender and into the far top corner. That move executed exactely as I had planned it.

I was gutted at my keeper in the first game for your goal. He basically fumbled the ball straight at your feet.

The first goal is always so important and in the second game my getting ahead killed the game. I really thought you'd have a great chance in the second after the performance in the first half of the first and you started to work opportunities well without getting anythig clear cut.

Two storming games for Sampdoria, Cassano finally finds his scoring touch and bangs away 6 in two games.

In truth the score lines are very flattering. In the first match it was end to end the whole game, the only difference was I seemed to score every time I took a shot. Siread to his credit kept pushing on to the final whistle.

The 2nd was closer and could easily have been a draw if Ajax had taken their chances. Really pleased to bag my first six pointer of the season.

Cheers for the games Siread, good luck for the rest of the season.

Nice result ASM

Siread, I'm so gutted for you. Pick a decent team next season and you'll win the conference easily, as that's where I think you'll be at the end of this one.

Cheers Superstarbeejay.

Your right, the only reason I did so well last night was the Ajax defenders couldn't cope with my strikers. Siread played really well, I think that if the teams had been evenly matched, the results would have been very different.

The first half of the first game you put away four and every single goal I felt hard done by. One you backed into a defender and he fell on his arse, another I tried to play a simple square pass and it went straight to your forward... It was just pathetic from my team. I can't complain though, you played better and took your chances. I might have to start with five at the back from now on.

Edit: Oh goodie, I play heretic this week.

Close game, this, but one I think I just about deserved the win. My second goal was a dodgy penalty that I felt bad about taking. The keeper made a very good save, but somehow it still went in to put me 2-1 up. We went into the break at that score and I pulled away that bit further straight away in the second half. I didn't do much else after that to threaten. Siread changed his tactics and I went defensive. Si came really close to some great shooting chances, but my defenders kept getting in the way at the last second. I managed to see the game out and get three points.

This was much, much tighter and I don't really think I deserved to win, never mind by two goals. I went two up early on, and Si got one back in the second half, I think. Si kept pushing and created plenty of chances, and he should feel unfortunate to have not finished them off. Thankfully I got one chance to finish the game and I did. João Moutinho managed to sneak in at the far post to nod a dodgy cross in. Two of his three goals this season have been headers, and I don't think anyone could have seen that coming.
